Happy Six Months, Ruby!

Ruby’s Sixth Month

Clothes: “6-9 mos"

Diapers:  Size “2” 

·         Started solids this past month!  Rice cereal – 8/26.  She didn’t know what to think at first, but after the first 3-4 times, she gobbled it right up.

·         Right on queue with starting solids, constipation kicked in.  Bad. Really bad.  To the point of bleeding.  We’ve started juice and some glycerin suppositories, but it’s still heart breaking.

·         One of my favorite things from the month is her GROWL.  She growls all the time.  We have no idea where she got it or why she does it.  But it is so cute. 

·         Trying to wave.  It may be with a hand down by her side that we can’t see very well.  But she’s trying. 

·         Neighborhood girls still love her so much.  They all ask to hold her.  It’s sweet.

·         The girl LOVES to scratch.  She scratches the couch while I’m nursing her, the pillow will I’m burping her, my leg while I’m holding her….fascinated with scratching.

·         She is really trying to raise up to sit.  When we place her on her back, she immediately looks like she’s trying to do a sit-up. 

·         Still loves to hold (chew) and turn pages of board books

·         Talks and talks…even fusses at her toys. 

·         Her legs are super strong.  We can stand her up and just help her balance – she loves to stand.  Even if we try to sit her up, she will pop up on her feet.  Maybe she’ll stand before she sits. 

·         We think she may have cut a tooth.  It’s in the left bottom – but TOWARDS THE BACK!  How and why would she cut a first tooth towards the back?  We are keeping an eye on it and will likely take her to the dentist to have it checked out. 

·         Still loves her feet

·         She is still so laid back.  We can really take her anywhere and she cooperates.  Such a sweet, sweet baby.  She’s so good. 

We are having so much fun with her.  It’s amazing to me how different she is from how Rae was.  Obviously they are entirely different babies.  It’s just so interesting to see how they are raised so similarly but react and behave so differently – already.  Individuality starts from the beginning and I love it. 

In short, we are so excited to see what Ruby’s personality will be like.  We talk a lot about “what will she like to do?  What will her favorite color be?  Etc”. One thing is for sure- she is a sweetheart.  Such a great baby.  Chill and laid back.  We love you, little Ruby Girl!  Happy 6 months!

 Ruby’s Fifth Month

Clothes: “3-6 mos"

Diapers:  Size “2”

Belly laughs!  That's definitely one of my favorite things from this past month!  It didn't happen a ton, but it happened.  Here's how the biggest one went down this month:  I was reading a book to Ruby.  There was a goat on one of the pages.  So, naturally, I started “baaing” like a goat (more so for Rae, who was in the room).  Ruby was in my lap facing me, and started belly laughing…shaking up and down.  Rae, Ms Lexie, and I then spent the better part of the afternoon continuing to “baaaaaaa” at Ruby.  It worked for a while, then the novelty eventually wore off.  Every now and then, we can baa at her and get her to smile with it.  But, her belly laughs were limited to that day. It was a fun little surprise.  Who knew goats were so funny.

Ruby also enjoyed visitors this past month.  Several of mommy’s friends were in town for a wedding.  Ruby got to meet and play with them.  She also has enjoyed being social in the neighborhood. 

What else from this month...

• Plays with her feet – loves them
• Talks more and more
• Opens her mouth when you get near her face…like a little bird
• Turns pages in books.  Her big sister did this around this age too.  Brings back lots of memories
• Still loves sitting in her bumbo...and just sitting, in general.
• Has started spending some time playing in her crib...just to get used to it...b/c, (and I know, I know) she's still in her Rock N Play.  The goal next month is to be napping exclusively in her crib.  I'm nervous.  She seems to enjoy playing in there tho.  Thank goodness.
• Still rolling over.  Doesn't do it much...and hasn't rolled from back to front yet.  But she's working on it. 
• Something that I think is cute....she gets her little teething rings wrapped around her shoulder.  I don't know how, but it almost always ends up like this...like a little shoulder bracelet (and speaking of teething....still no teeth!)
• Lots of feet crossing. 
• On a not-so-cute note, has had some constipation problems.  I'll spare the details...in short - it's not fun...for anybody.
• Loves her Ms Lexie.  They spend lots of time together - Ruby thinks Ms Lexie is funny :)

Overall, this past month, she really started interacting more...which makes things so much fun!  Looking forward to more fun next month, you little goat giggler.  :)

This pic is random but I had to post.  A-b/c I have a pic of Raegan almost just like this in the same outfit. And, B - b/c it shoes how much bigger Ruby is than Rae.  This little outfit fit her way earlier than Rae could ever fit into it.

Ruby’s Fourth Month

Clothes: “3-6 mos"

Diapers:  Size “1” and “2”

This month has been fun!  (A little rough) but fun!  Continued issues with sleeping at night -  I just can’t figure it out.  One night I’ll think it’s teething related, the next I’m convinced it’s gas.  But, her naps during the day are still good.  So that and the fact that her personality is starting to come out - the fun stuff made up for the sleepless nights! 

One big piece of news this month - I went back to work... and I have to say – it hasn’t been that bad.  With the luxury of working from home and having her here with “Miss Lexie”, I’m able to see her and not miss a thing.  We are so incredibly blessed. 

 

Okay, more Ruby news!

-Has started blowing like we do.  I don’t know that she had a choice.  We were constantly in her face blowing. 

-Is talking more and more.  Has full on conversations with us…with SO much feeling behind it.  She REALLY wants to talk to us.  A lot of people think she sounds like Raegan.  We went to pick Rae up from school one day and Rae’s infant room teacher heard Ruby cry.  She said “Oh my.  That is Raegan Ransom.”  Which excites me because one of my favorite things about Ruby’s big sister is her voice.  It’s the sweetest…in my opinion J

-Along with talking, she has started fussing at her toys…almost arguing with them…when they won’t do what she wants them to do.  It’s funny.  Now anyway…

-Also smiling a ton.  I think everyone would agree that a baby smiling is one of the most precious things.   I can’t think of a more genuine gesture.  

-On the same note, she laughed for the first time this month!   I sound completely ridiculous when trying to get her to laugh, but naturally - I put that aside and just do whatever it takes. :)

-She also does this funny noise...almost like a giggle.  Does this little laugh like “keee keee keee keee”

-Made her first of many visits to Savannah this month

 -Has started sitting in her bumbo

 -Still gnawing on her hands constantly…just waiting on that first little tooth to pop through.

-Towards the end of the month, she started to grab her feet.  Isn’t doing it a lot…just enough to be cute.

-A big first: Rolled over from front to back!  On 7/14.  We were face timing with DeDe so she got to see the first too!

-Lots more tummy time this month

-And of course, one of my favorite things this month is that Rae is still loving on her so much.  Ruby just lets Rae do whatever...as you'll see at the end of this post (the princess crown-made by Rae- that Ruby is wearing to appease her big sister.)

Such a fun month!  Looking forward to what the next one brings!  We love you Punkin Seed!
