Starting it off with a Bang

2011, the final year of my academic life. nobody knows what comes after. the future is forever a mystery until the day of present. time to put your game-face on and give em a good show. it never gets easier coming back, not the first time, nor the second.

Summer vacation was awesome, learned some valuable things, I got to meet up with familiar faces, it has been a while. Stuffs happened to them, good stuff and even bad stuff. Some have their own business, some graduating soon, some joined the rat race and some even became fathers. That's life I guess. We accept it and move on. Tried to "ninja" cause of my cramped schedule but I guess there's no need for it. You can always find time.

It was great seeing the family again. I've always been the quiet one, even with cousins. I never really knew my family but this vacation I get to meet up with them, the usual ones and some not so usual ones. I have a gradma in KL which I never visits back in the days due to family feuds, this is only my second time seeing her. She looks good for someone in her 80's, loud... really loud just like my dad. Speaking of my dad, first thing I did with him was we got into an argument. But we're good, we weren't really mad at each other... we're just stubborn with our ideals.

Though it being my final year(hopefully), I have yet to select a title for my individual project... =( and progress reports are due in March, dammit! Classes aren't as hectic as it used to... well spread out and all, like today I have three classes with an hour break in between...wth. Been slowly catching up with the guys here, only to realise that many of them had graduated... oh how the years just flew by.

To those who are reading this, I bid you all the best, in good health and harmony as we start our engines for the year 2011, be it studying, working or just hanging around ;) Peace!

Pointless Nostalgic

Kpop wave ~

On the 13th of January, I was at one of my job-sites as usual when I saw this...

... one of the main ball-room was being prepared as the Kpop Party 2011 Conference room. A stand caught my eye at the entrance of the conference room, there were selling merchandise! oh how I would love to get/buy one/some. Unfortunately I was on duty and my supervisor didn't give a shyt (next time, next time).

My Kpop indulgence started with SNSD but the energy portrayed by 4Minute is hard to miss. A good thing about Kpop is they have a lot of those celebrity-reality shows on tele, so when you watch one, you'll be exposed to a number of artists at a time, so you can't help but take notice.

I also like the digital genre of the music. Keeps your heart pumping and its great for workouts, keeps you motivated. Kpop bands usually have some pretty iconic dances for each of their songs, which also a trait that I really like, the dancing. Maybe cause I grew up with Michael Jackson (The King! RIP) so I love it when they dance in large numbers... you know like Thriller? the zombie dance? and Vanilla Ice XD

Photography

Few days after I touched down, I discovered my dad's old SLR camera(well it was actually just sitting there). I took it out, fiddled with it and was really curious about it. An exhibition was coming up and I was eager to take it for a test-run.

Well since it was my first time operating an SLR, I had no idea how to set up the SLR. Out of the entire of film, only five was deemed reasonable(It was a sad moment). Instead of giving up, I did some research, snapped a few photos at home while documenting my settings and my subjects. I have yet to complete the entire role of film but I'm getting there.

My sis, who was the reason for the camera 'sitting there' in the first place bought a Micro-Four-Thirds(MFT) digital camera instead. Knowing her, it was well predicted. She doesn't need a bulky SLR, she needs a good point-and-shoot. Thinking of getting one of those film-scanners, to digitise the pictures i've taken, but the one I found recently was the size of an xbox... sigh

2011 - Genesis

The year is now 2011. Wasn't very graceful entering the year of the Rabbit with me coming down with a flu and feverish. 2010 was a bomb of a year, it just flew by. It was a great year, and no doubt this year will be much better than the last. Its already my final year in my life as an academic, the final frontier.

2010 thought me a lot of things. The most important one is I think, was putting yourself out there away from your comfort zone. Well more like expanding my comfort zone. I've met people, been to places, drank and eaten some stuff that really opened my eyes. Everyone has a sense of curiosity and fulfilling that curiosity is truly a great feeling, good or bad(just laugh it off if it is). Recapping... Recapping (nehh dont bother, its like a year's worth of ****)

Anyway, basketball in 2010 was promising as the number of recruits sky rocket in to the 20's. Captain L laid the foundation for us before he graduated, he was truly a great leader, highly disturbed but a great leader nevertheless. Met up with him shortly after I got back, still highly disturbed. The basketball team now suffer a problem they had never encountered before, and these young-bloods are way too persistent. However, the organisers never fails to disappoint us when they hired sub-qualified referees for the event... bad on you. Nevertheless, ACT put up a good fight. From the depths of sweaty armpits and sore limbs, a great team was born.

2010 showed me that good music is not confined to its language as I was taken away by the Kpop wave. I always had this interest in foreign music but never Kpop, no idea why. It started when I was tuning in to a local(Malaysia) radio show from down under(OZ), Wondergirls was on air... and it was in korean? and it was frequently repeated, who could've blamed them, the song was catchy(..nobody, nobody but you! ). Later on Girls Generation released RunDevilRun and like Pepsiman to Pepsi, I was hooked... and so is the rest of the world.

I decided to rewrite the ending, kinda terpesong a lil from the title... here goes...

Prior to 2010, something happened in my life, and I wondered why. I never knew why but I decided that the fault was mine, and mine alone and no one else. My life was a lie, I was lost, I was weak, so I turned to friends, I even turned to religion, I turned to the chances life threw at me. I turned my life around. I found people, I found music, I found laughter and happiness, I found pain, I found strength, I found myself. Where one can be lost in the world, one also can be found, and what a great find it was in 2010.

My only resolution for 2011 is that I get some decent house mates. Dat iz all... maybe some new kicks, some money, a part time job maybe? nvm...
