On our first leg to Florida, then the following morning to Eleuthera, Bahamas.
James and Clara both fly really well.
Waking up at 4 am, not so much. Had an early flight. Plus swimming in the pool the night before probably didn't help.
The view from the house we stayed in for about a week.
The side yard leading to the front of the house.
View of the path leading to the flight of stairs to the beach.
The balcony that always had a breeze.
Mmmmmm...
Just arrived, briefly unpacked enough to get swim suits on and heading to the beach.
Doing well at containing the excitement.
Look!! An angel!!
View from the edge of the yard to the right.
And, to the left.
The kids experiencing different forms of relaxation.
Uncle Jon and Aunt Marlene enjoying the view.
Peaking down the stairs.
Maiya ripping apart coconuts.
James helping Uncle Jon cook some breakfast.
Yeah, Clara being Clara.
Like walking on cool, fluffy marshmallows.
Kid's enjoyed the beach and never got a sunburn.
Only saw 3 other people on the beach during our stay.
James really liked it.
Ok, maybe he loved it.
Look!!!!
Shhhh, quite, hunting rabbits.....
Heading out to explore the island.
The buildings were either in construction limbo, with no construction actually going on, or the buildings were in disrepair. Hardly saw anyone also.
One of the small towns that is near where we stayed.
And the stuff to see between the few small towns.
The modern looking ones had cool colors.
Approaching the glass window bridge. And no, it's not made of glass. I was disappointed too.
Anywhere you looked, the water looked beautiful. The water to the left is the calm protected side.
The right side is the rough, deep Atlantic side. Lots more wind too.
The bridge was actually a natural one but was destroyed by a hurricane and then was rebuilt man-made style.
Really wish I had my scuba gear to go exploring.
If you can download/zoom in, this is the history of the bridge.
This "path" leads down to some cool looking natural wading pools in the side of the cliff.
It was steep and not built for sandals, especially when wet. The pool in the distance is about 4 feet deep and about 10 foot wide and 6 foot long.
Still wish I had my scuba gear or super powers.
Inspecting the different.
Yeah. I could build a house here with a nice balcony to fish off of. And a helipad.
Taking a boat ride from the main land to the north to Spanish Wells.
Pretty water everywhere.
Clara enjoying the wind.
Enjoying the views.
Approaching the small island of Spanish Wells.
It appeared to be off-season.
Most businesses were closed.
Stopped at a nice restaurant to have lunch.
Clara and James being silly.
And just relaxing.
Hanging out with Clara after lunch waiting for Uncle Jon to bring our "rides".
Dangling toes in the water is fun.
Took a ride in rented golf carts, the standard island transportation, further north to some more beautiful beaches.
Awesome family.
The kids just loved hanging out.
The water wasn't cold and the sand wasn't hot, perfect combination.
Now, if it was only fresh water, with crabs jumping in the nearest pot.
Look mommy.....
Our ride back.
We toured the whole island but it would be fun to spend more time but we had to catch the last ferry boat to the main island.
Stopped by a large land-locked pool with lots of fish. There's supposedly a deep underwater passage that leads to the ocean. Again, wish I had brought my scuba gear.
Luckily we had some fish crackers that Clara was willing to sacrifice....hahaha, how ironic.
James taking a nap on the way back to the house.
Remember.....drive on the left.
Another road trip but this time to the southern tip of the main island.
The road consistently got narrower and rougher.
Getting close, the ocean was closing in on one side.
More beautiful beaches and didn't see anyone.
Another good place to build a house.
Once we made it up and over a considerable sandy hill where the road let, luckily we made it even though we specifically requested 4 wheel drive from the rental company and somehow that information wasn't followed.
Stretching our legs.
Clara found a coconut that had a resident hermit crab. COOL!!
We had a sucluded beach all to ourselves for about 20 min before a few older couples arrived.
The sands everywhere were squishy and cool to the touch.
Sooooo peaceful.
Opps, forgot to bring the swim suits.
Still had fun.
So glad they love to run.
And run....
And run....
And guess what she likes to do?
Whats that?
It's green and fuzzy.
Should we grab it?
Where are you going James?
Runrunrun
Can't catch me!!!!
Uncle Jon exploring.
Clara and James exploring too.
Oooh, found a little alcove.
Soooo cool. Could have a picnic here.
And a camp fire.
The top where the remnants of an lighthouse stands.
The view inland.
At the base was a cistern, but I'm pretty sure the water inside wasn't safe.
James found a lizard.
Our path back out.
Heading back north to the house.
Stopped off at a recommended restaurant close to the house. I don't think there was any restaurants where we didn't sit outside. It was really nice.
On the beach at the house and the stairs leading up to the house.
Clara tried out her goggles.
Taking a break and rinsing...I mean James having a water fight.
Back on the beach getting some more sand and water time.
James and Clara keeping up their digging skills.
Playing with mommy.
Clara getting fresh sand.
Maiya keeping a watchful eye.
Mommy showing James which way to face when a big wave comes.
Uncle Jon teaching Clara how to fly.
Trying the water without her float vest on.
Caaaareful.....
Crawl like a crab.
Woah!!
Ha, missed me.
Splish splash!!
Beautiful sunsets everyday.
Taking another boat ride to another small island to the north.
Found a restaurant/resort to eat lunch at.
The walk to it was like a nature trail.
One of only two tables, so the service was great.
So, pretty much every restaurant we went to would put citronella cans out on the table. And at this restaurant, Clara made the mistake of reaching out and touching it in hopes to see what was in it. She burned 3 of her fingers pretty good and so spent the next hour or so holding her fingers in ice water. Luckily Nikki had children's Tylenol.
Our poor angel. She knows now what the little cans are for.
Walking back after our yummy lunch.
Daddy and James watching the town zoom by.
The road leaving the restaurant.
More of the town.
We quite a few chickens even though to go buy three frozen chicken breasts in the grocery store would set us back about $30.
The only thing that's missing is either people or zombies.
More fun on different beach.
James and Daddy having fun squishing the super soft sand between our toes.
Clara joining in.
Beautiful in both directions.
Cooling our feet off in the surf.
Standing in one spot when the waves come in would allow you to sink a little further.
It was really fun walking down the beach exploring.
Look....little footie prints.
The retreating waves left neat sculptures.
Beautiful angel.
Look....a rare floating angel.
The drive home, we pulled over to get these shots of the amazing sunset.
Nope, not a postcard, but postcard perfect.
Jon and grandma buzzing the home on the flight south to explore the island from above.
Clara and James taking a turn in Uncle Jon's plane.
James having fun with Uncle Jon
Clara did not like getting salt water in her eyes.
My poor angel.
She loved the beach though.
James didn't mind the water at all.
Taking a break warming in the sun.
Daddy and James hanging out.
Listening and watching the waves cool our toes.
Clara tempting Uncle Jon.
James going to help his sister.
Ah oh, burring Uncle Jon.
Uncle Jon heading to wash off the sand.
Trying to dig a deep hole.
James without his floaty, contemplating on how far he could swim.
Ahhhh, found another floaty.
Going exploring the beach to the north.
Approaching the only rocky parts where there was cool tide pools.
Wish we brought sandals.
Heading deeper to inspect.
Back close to home again, the next day.
Clara and James soaking up the sun and sand.
Nikki and daddy going snorkeling.
And the day that most of us got sunburned. The kids didn't get sunburned at all, luckily.
Trying out the kayak.
James going for a ride.
