Picking up the Camera

While doing laundry the other day, I realized I hadn't taken one picture in a very long time (besides the pictures from my phone, which really don't count). So, I tried to take some pictures of my day ... it was kinda fun.

These deliciousies were a gift from a co-worker at Beans. She home made them, and I finished the whole bag in about 3 minutes.

This bag of Swedish candy was a bag of Russian Roulette! There were some really good ones, and some REALLY bad ones!

I saw a really good (free) sundance documentary called Muscle Shoal (Thank you Whit!). And scored free tickets to the awards ceremony (with Joseph Gordon-Leavitt) and the afterparty ....VIP!!! (.ps. I will acknowledge that the picture is horrible)

I have a work phone. It's so weird to carry around 2 phones. I feel like I am juggling. Soon I'll have a tablet to add to it!

A new years resolution was to give up dairy (except greek yogurt and butter). I'm really, really bad at it! But I'm slightly smiten for almond milk lately!

The beans crew took me out as a farewell this last weekend. Aren't they just the awesomest? They all got me this awesome pen and enough funds to have my stethescope engraved with my name as well!

Way Past Due

 

Do you have an instagram? I really love instagram. My favorite part of online social stuff is looking (stalking people) through pictures. Instagram is perfect for that! Let me know if you have one! (really though, I probably already know, because you are reading this and we're close like that)

Now, to the point of this post ... I got a new job!

 

I am a case manager/hospice RN at a home health and hospice company. I'm super excited about getting my nursing career started, and even more terrified that it is starting.

Ugh, the conflicts in my excitement.

D and I spent our fourth anniversary in St.George climbing. We tested out some christmas gifts which turned out to be awesome! Of course, I forgot the camera, and the phone was all I had. So pretty much this is the only picture from the trip.

We've also been trying to take advantage of the horrible inversions by taking pictures of the sunsets.

It's been awhile since we've seen Miss Whit and we were so excited we got to spend Thanksgiving in her world!

We spent the most of out time in Arkansas at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. It is this awesome canyon surrounded by cliffs and boulders. It's a goat ranch where you are able to camp out, rent a cabin, or in our case, a teepee, and climb or hang out.

The Ozarks are so thickly covered in trees! Since the leaves had all fallen, it was dangerous walking in the thick leaves because it was easy to roll an ankle on something hidden beneath.

We were grateful to have our teepee for two reasons: it's mostly rain-proof, and Chili. Chili is the resident goat-dog who slept with us in the teepee. We came back to camp to find him cuddled up in our sleeping bags, so we let him stay and even shared some Thanksgiving dinner.

Whit did a great job getting a Thanksgiving together for us, even though we were in the middle of no where. Thank you so much Whit!

Talking of food ... the south has the greatest food! We (or at least, me) had to be pretty daring, but it was all great. We had alligator, catfish, grits, fried chicken, and fried cheesecake.

Unlike D, Whit knows how to stand out on the rock!

And, of course, we had to break the electronics rule and snap a picture of our house!

Red Pine Lake, LCC

Wahoo for fall break. D and I had fall break at the same time this year. That is the first time that has EVER happened!

We went on a bit of a jaunt up to Red Pine Lake. It felt like it was straight up, and I there were so many ridges that I was certain would be the lake ... and it never came. Turns out when D told me there was only a quarter mile and the steepest part of the hike left he really said three-quarters of a mile left.

Once we got to the lake, we saw the Pfieferhorn just above us. We decided, since we were so close, we should summit.

Turns out "our Pfeiferhorn" was just another false-summit.

School Update

I opened this post, just to upload a few pictures, and then realized that I don't have any! It seem like for awhile my post have been heavy on pictures, and light on actually letting you know what we are up to.

SO... This is what we do:

1. We have been busy with school.

I really don't love my classes this semester. Since I'm done with the RN, the classes are so much less hands-on, application-like content, which I loved. AND I have a group project in every class (gr).

D has 4 math classes this semester. There is only one other math class offered at the school that he has not taken, which you have to be a math major to be able to take. And really why doesn't he just declare that major to get it out of the way? (jk).

He has changed his major (again), to ... Goephysical Engineering! I think he will love it so so much more! He seems pretty happy. The only problem is that U of U doesn't offer the degree (sarcastic darn). So he has applied to Colorado School of Mines. O man if we went there it would be so awesome! Coming this January we may be moving to Boulder. But if we don't, we get to go to Butte Montana. Which I am informed is usually called Butt, and for good reasons (Thanks Dad). Either way I'm excited to go someplace new.
