Lily teaching Flash the finer points of attracting birds. Think Enchanted, the princess on the porch singing "aAaaAAaa..." Yes Flash is wearing a dress and yes he is singing. His voice is a bit deeper though. Haha. Priceless.

We've got cabin fever...

I found this video from a road trip in March. We were driving home from Las Vegas for a quick trip to see my sister. Lily was bored and was desperate for entertainment. She started making up songs and singing with gusto. It struck me as hilarious as I was browsing my home videos tonight. If you know and love her, I think you'll like it too.

I love watching childhood. Perfection really. Sing like nobody's watching...

I think cabin fever is what drove us to Vegas in the first place. I don't recommend Vegas to anyone. Ever. Lily was thrilled to see Winnie the Pooh and she still speaks fondly of the trip to Vegas. And $1 for a picture was much cheaper than driving to Disneyland. But next time, Disneyland.

 

Leavenworth Washington Weekend and the coolest cabin ever

Last fall while staying in Washington state we took a weekend excursion to Leavenworth, Washington. I cute little Bavarian town tucked into the mountains. The food was incredible and the lodging was everything we ever dreamed. Here is a video showing the ultra-cool cabin we rented. It really is something else. Push through the poor filming because seeing this cabin is well worth the effort. It is built into a rock and made of rocks, wood and old skis. It has a toilet placed between two boulders with gravity fed water and a locking door in front. One of a kind amenities. The dining room was magical with breathtaking views and all the luxuries we could want. You could say it was just our style, seriously check it out.

We went to the Salmon Festival (I guess there is a festival almost every weekend, we just happened upon the salmon one.) They had a Salmon Run 5k, still wishing we'd done that. How funny is a "Salmon Run" along the river, ha. We did all get matching t-shirts though. Love it. Who knew being so nerdy could be so fun. Somehow I can't find the picture of us all in our shirts. Bummer, you would have loved it.

For dinner we went out to Pavz. It was delicious. Best dessert I have ever had. Here is the description:

Fresh Pear Crepe
Our signature specialty—filled with vanilla ice cream, then folded and topped with a
fresh peeled pear placed in a bed of sweet cheese and garnished with orange zest.
If anybody can copy it, I'm coming over ;)

Lily's Birthday and Bike Jealousy

Lily is four now. Wow, she is growing up. Here she is at morning of the big birthday.

Mikelle and Dave came over for a Speghetti factory style dinner (Lily's favorite) and bowling in the backyard (also her request). Lots of fun.




Lily got a new bike for her birthday; new to her anyway:) Flash was instantly wanting in on the bike action. I saw it start and caught the whole thing on video. It cracks me up. This boy is all boy, he knows he wants anything with wheels. Lily was nice and even shared with him...eventually.

Princess Party

I do believe that every four year old girl wants a princess party. Mine was no exception. So I tried to make some magic and we had a great birthday party. This was the first venture with me and friend birthday parties. I could tell you what I'd do different but it would be much more interesting to see how much fun Lily had.
The biggest hit of all was the Rapunzel tower.

The girls wore a funny wig and crown thing and let down there hair to get a prize attached to the end. The boys wore a little distraught at being dropped off at a "princess party" to begin with and they were clear that they did not want to dress like a girl. They got a rope and were brave knights instead.
We had a maypole. It was cute, they didn't really get it though. Notice in the background the princess in the tower looking for a prince. She was a hoot. The entire time she wouldn't stay out of the tower and kept hollering down that she needed a prince. Grandpa tried, Trevor tried and here is one of the strapping young boys trying; none would do though. I just love kids, they are a riot.


Overall she had a wonderful time. Its fun the things that matter most to kids. She was insistent I get a picture of her painted toenails. I guess in all the big hoopla of a party its still the little things that count.
