Girl's Camp!

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend girl's camp...as a leader! I loved girl's camp growing up....but I LOVED it even MORE as a leader! We had a blast. My ward was in charge of the 1st years...we were a little concerned about that at first, but learned quickly the first years are the BEST! They still listen to you, they still do what they are told, and they are so fun to get to know. We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more and enjoyed a week getting to know each other better!

Angry Cousins

Father's day was this past Sunday, and I realized I had some cousins angry at me....angry because I had not posted on my blog for quite some time. Sorry guys! Here you go.

Life has been crazy and busy as usual. So I've decided to do an update in pictures. Here's the happenings in Emily's life over the last 4 months (wow! it really has been a long time....)

1. A reunion with some old roommates. We hung out in Park City, Shopped, Got massages, Laughed our heads off and mostly just enjoyed being together!




2. Graduation. Finally! After 4 years at the University of Utah I graduated with my Master's in Social work.

3. A trip to Las Vegas to see Jason Mraz in concert...and a little relaxing by the pool!

4. A much need vacation to Puerto Rico! We relaxed on the beach, saw some of old town, relaxed on the beach, slept, and oh, relaxed on the beach!




5. A trip to Boston for a Conference. We also went to Salem, a Red Sox Game, and did some shopping. It was fun and amazing but I was done traveling!

Phew! What an Amazing Four Months!

The next best thing to 'Friends'

Back in the day I was an avid 'Friends' watcher. In fact, during the 2002 season my friend Garnet and I were driving to Seattle the night of the season finale. Her parents HATED 'Friends' and we KNEW they would not record it for us so we were brainstorming all the ways we could watch 'Friends' that night. We finally settled on a hospital waiting room. So around 7pm we stopped at the nearest town, found a hospital, discovered an empty waiting room and had the time of our lives sitting on the floor watching the season finale of 'Friends'....a little obsessive? Maybe....

Anyway, I was sad when 'Friends' ended and have yet to find my replacement. While 'The Office' is top of my list it does not replace 'Friends'. Well recently I discovered it. 'The Big Bang Theory'! It is so HILARIOUS. I cry from laughing so hard nearly every episode. While nothing will ever beat 'Friends' I have a close replacement that I highly recommend.....

Ode to Diet Coke

Since my recent kidney issues, I have had to quit carbonation all together. I am not a big carbonation drinker, but my doctor told me for now that had to be the one thing I cut out of my diet. Every once in a while I just NEED a diet coke. My mouth starts to water, I start to feel better and happier, my eyes light up, and get goose bumps....and then I remember my 3 weeks of ****. Such a downer. But I KNOW I do not want to have any more problems...so instead, I drink a glass of water....sigh....

Nope, not over yet

The saga of my life has not ended yet...today I woke up with a rash all over my body. I have determined it is not chicken pox(it doesn't itch). Probably an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. Great. It looks HIDEOUS. My friend told me I should donate my body to science. I'm just about ready to do that!

Being Human

I was sitting in a therapy session, and my client says emotionally, "Why am I like that? Why do I do those things?" I say with as much empathy as possible, "Well, part of it is because you are human." She says, "Human Hurts."

How right she was. Sometimes just being human hurts.
