The 'Infinite' Bright Wing

When it comes to playing a game by the rules it is all to evident that my boy is an Evans to the core and therefore plays by his 'OWN' rules.  Case and point are clearly demonstrated just the other day when Baboo asked if someone would play Pokemon with him.  I of course said I would, however, I would need him to teach me.   Boy did I leave myself wide open with that comment, especially with his response of 'we can play by my rules'.  After being handed a deck of approximately 315 cards I was instructed to fan them out 'face up'.   Baboo, already "knowing" what to do had his deck fanned out in no time and placed a very shinny looking card directly in front of him.  "Ok Dadoo, you pick a card".  My card no sooner hit the carpet and Baboo exclaimed he was using a 'Bright Wing' attack and that my card had been defeated. (Blank Stare on my face.....)   He swiftly snatched my card, removing it from play and advised that I should pick 5 cards this time. Ya, totally lost I asked him to show me how to tell  a good card.  He was a very patient teacher and walked me through what the various numbers on the cards meant.  With this knowledge I chose my cards.  Baboo had also made his selections and placed them by his shinny card which had maliciously defeated my first card.  "Now Dadoo, we flip this coin... red is heads, black is tails" (what... coin???  where the heck did this coin come from) "If it lands on tails I attack, heads you attack.  Before I could utter a word the coin was flipped and Baboo had called 'Tails'....  Time stood still as I saw the coin come to rest...Tails! (I'm still in a state of shock over the events which followed)  After declaring another 'Bright Wing' attack, Baboo informed me that all of my cards had been defeated and now we had to place all our cards out. In the blink of an eye he began to shrink into the distance as he laid his army of cards before me.  "Um...Baboo... why are we laying our cards out?" I questioned, to which he answered "Because I won the 1st battle and now we are in the BONUS round"  (Bonus round ??)  Seeking more clarity I asked "So what happens during the Bonus round?"  "Dadoo, I add all the powers of my cards together and attack your cards"   "So, Baboo... how much power do 'you' get by laying your cards out.  Baboo's response totally sums up this blog entry.....

The Running of the Bulls

The Running of the Bulls involves a small group of bulls (typically a dozen) that have been let loose in a sectioned-off subset of Pamplona's streets.  This yearly ritual occurs sometime between July 6th to July 14th.

Now...Taking the following factors into consideration...
  • July is almost 2 months past
  • The Atlantic Ocean separates me from Spain
...you'd think I should have no need for concern around the possibility of being corned by a Bull.  Right?

Well, apparently that is not the case.  You see...Tonight, as I was relaxing on the couch..all of a sudden... rushing out in front of me....came.....the running of the Baboo.

'Look Dadoo! I'm a BULL...'

Volkano6

Regardless of the spelling one thing is certain, my Baboo has an unbelievable fascination with them, ranging from drawing pictures to using the word itself in his 'super secret' Poptropica password (see post title).  I would love nothing more than to be able to take Xaine to see one up close in person... one day I PROMISE I will.  I figure in the mean time, like everything in life, sometimes you have to start small and build up.  Seeing that we don't have any volcano's near by we did the next best thing...
We MADE our own by finally putting that pile of dirt in the backyard to good use.  With our bare hands we sculpted and molded a mountain of explosive potential with a flume so deep one could easily fall in (and Xaine would have had he not trusted his Dadoo's support of him).

A spritz of gray spray paint here and there added the final touches of rock on earth.  Now we wait for an eruption......................... ok it's been way to long (approximately 10sec) and not even a grumble from our creation.

Time to take matters into our hands......
Never before has such fury been witnessed so closely (Ok..ok maybe fizzle vs. fury would have been a better adjective... but we had fun).  While the earth was left hollow and cracked...

...this experience has left a lasting footprint in my memories which i'm sure will only promote more creativity and adventures in mine and Baboo's future....

The Toothless Wonder

At Xaines age it is not too uncommon to be loosing teeth, but 3 in a matter of a week and a halves time.... give the POOR Tooth fairy a break.

Top Right (3.20.2010)
The absolute test of trusting an older brother shows when he tells you to BITE a nerf ball and you actually do. Xaine apparently trusts his brother. He not only completed the requested task but also sacrificed his top tooth (which was not even ready to come out) while in the process... oh brotherly love.

Top Left (3.31.2010)
Loose enough to move with his tongue from the back the tooth was sure holding on for dear life in the front. That is until it decided to pop right out of Xaine's mouth while he was at school. Nothing like picking up the Babbo and seeing his Full on smile with both top teeth missing and his tooth safe in a zip lock bag (no way is he passing up another chance for a tooth fairy visit)

Bottom Right (4.2.2010)
Being a sentimental freak i do my best to capture as many as Xaines life events. Well looks like I'll be missing some video on the self extraction efforts he did on this tooth. But in the words of my boy 'don't worry Dadoo.. it's ok that we don't have pictures. I have the memories in my head'"

(These tooth loss events are in tribute to Uncle Cootie. The first Toothless Wonder)

Lunch with the 1st Grader

The thought having occurred to me once again (thought bubble) 'Man Xaine is sure growing up fast.. what if one day he doesn't want to spend time with me.. what if the day comes that he requests that I duck down anytime we drive past his friends' (panic attach... breathe breathe)

After Popping that horrid thought bubble, I decided to see about snagging some more quality time with my Baboo by asking if he would like me to join him for school lunch. Much to my joy he accepted.

As lunch time approached I rushed to the Golden Arches and picked up a Mighty Kids meal (after all he is a big 1st grader now) and drove to school. After acquiring my my cool visitor sticker from the front desk i traversed through the maze of corridors and entered the cafeteria. Xaine's class had yet to be released for lunch so i took a seat and waited. I felt like the stinky kid as school as everyone around me soon moved away leaving me alone. (as if that were not enough I had this kid across from me STARING )

Thank goodness the doors opened and in came Xaine. He had a huge grin on his face as he speed walked (no running) over to the table. Not sure if the smile was for me or the fact that he was about to eat: golden nuggets with ranch dip, fries and chocolate milk.

We talked about his day, giggled and even wore the Mighty Kids box as a Viking helmet (yes, i wore it too.. figure if that kid was going to stare I'd give him something to really stare at)

Time sped by and soon Ms. Tinc was rounding up the kids. With a BIG hug I sent him to join his class. (time for me to head home and play with this 2 headed blue dragon toy that came in his meal) :P
