Eric Letter 4-26-10

Dear Family and Friends,

just becasue i sent it to every single one of my family members,

phew that was alot of hi's. but i love them all.

sounds like my family had a good week this past week.

first a little bit about the photos. for you all to know.

the first photo is a photo that i made specifically for kylie. 

the photos of the shoes are of my shoes with my noe ones and the lone shoes are the ones that i need dad to get me new ones from missionary mall.

the umbrella is broken and we also got that from the missionary mall. dad you know what to do.

then of the others are of my house and then also of me and elder fields messing around with the book of morman and the power htat it contains.

the last two are in memory of my fathers mission country. i bought two shirts of the italy soccer team.

now onto this week.

well i kind of forgot that this last week was only a week of four days. but here i go anyways.

thursday after interviews with president we went and stopped by two houses and taught two lessons that night. then on friday we left the house early to try and teach two really cool men. but one was not home and the other some one was wast to answer the door. then ate lunch then we had everything planned down to the last minuete and basically every single appointment fell that day. so it was another day of knocking on doors and getting adresses. then on saturday we taught three lessons, one with a couple that the church helped them get married and thhave stopped coming to church and the other was the wife of one of our investigators and the the other one was a man of like a really really old age of 48 lol just kidding i think he was more like 75 - 80 years old. but he doesn't he visit any churches, or so he says. then on sunday we went to chjurch and had no one i mean not a single investigator there at church. then we wto lunch and then woent home grabbed some stuff then went to work and we taught three lessons that day as well. a sithat said that they would read the BOM and also another man that is saying that he is trying to find time to read it. then we also made a contawith this lady that was sitting and reading just any old magazine but after we started talking to her i looked down and woops it waso not just a magazine of any type but it was two bible lesson magazines. se we basically bible bashed with her. that was fun. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then on monday the next day we had a better day with 4 lessons.

i will tell you all that this is my hardest area yet on the mission. peole here don't want to do anything and they never really keep the commitments that they make with us. it is just so frustrating.

dang i really need to take better notes about stuff that i want to tell you all about in these emails. becaue i had um bucado of things that are really cool that i wanted to tell you all but i can't remember them at all. but this week that is one theing that i will better at doing.

for now i love you all and give 'Kyler' a hug and kiss for me and also one to Kamryn.

Eric letter Jan 5, 2010

Eric did write last week.  I just never sent it.  It was the first one after two weeks off (because of the holidays)

January 5, 2011

So here I am in another area, so now I can say to my father, “HA, you and I were both wrong because I thought that I would stay, too; but I also got transferred”.  Whatever, because I will do so much better in this area.  It will also help me that my companion is American and he refuses to speak English, which is good.

His name is elder Kelemen and he is from Provo, Utah. His family is big too. There are  nine kids in his family. Woah!  It is just the two of us in this house.  

I will be working in a area called Simões Filho. It is right next to Camaçari. Oh, and my father that I call daddy (wow that is kind of a childish word but oh well), I did see a lot of factories in Camaçari. I never saw the big Ford factory but yes, it does exist there.

Yes, that is right, I did say that I would talk about Christmas day and New Years and my birthday.

PRONTO? (Ready)

Let us start with Christmas day. That day I woke up and did the normal routine in the morning,  although I  did not do my exercises.... but I did study and then I worked and went to lunch and then worked some more until about 6 pm and went to a white elephant called -amiga(o) secreta.  I actually went to two of them. The first one was at a member’s house where I received a pillow shaped like a heart that says on the front....Você é Muito Especial.... and it also has wings on the side. The second one was at the stake president’s house where I received an awesome mustang shirt. Then I went home and went straight to bed.

My Birthday was a normal day until at night at about 8 pm. The same members that had the first Christmas party, threw me a surprise birthday party. I received what you guys sent to me and also a box of chocolate and a bottle of dove soap from a member. Tthat was pretty cool.

On New Year’s Eve, we just worked that day then at night I drank a bunch of soda.  Just basically talked with the other missionaries in my house.

It was quite different. but it was good.

Wow I am totally surprised at how you are acting about your teeth thing. I thought that you would be at least a little bit worried, but I guess that you grabbed some of my chill genes or I  must be a better big brother then I thought. Just know that i am there for you in spirit and pray to our dearest Father in Heaven. He will help you.

Eric's Letter--December 15th

Hello again my fellow missionaries and parents and siblings and niece and two brother-in-laws. OH and friends and other relatives. LOL

YAY Christmas is coming up but it is still not here.

Here some answer to my daddy’s questions.

Camaçari:. Yes, I did mention it is flatter,. but it is also very hot and humid and maybe a little bit more tropical so can someone send me and air conditioner...lol. it would be nice (hehe) but way too spendy.
They do have a ward here but it is small. We are working on that trying to baptize but I run into a ton of people that are part of the "testimonies of Jehovah" They believe that Jehovah is the name of God, the Father and not the name of Jesus Christ. They also don't believe in fasting. Someone told me that they completely took out 21 of the verses of one chapter in Matthew in their version of the bible. I don’t know if they if there are other differences from the King James Version. I actually have one of their bibles. I am going to keep it and bring it home and show all of you it…although I guess you won’t get much out of it since it is in Portuguese!

My other area does not even have a branch yet. but it is close. They started having their meetings out there inside a school about three weeks before I was transferred here. We have a few people that we are teaching that we are going to baptize these next two Sundays. Cool huh?

Wow, when i was reading that last paragraph from my mother about there Christmas week, I got so trunky. Mom, if you don't know what that means just let me know. I will explain it to you in simple terms. lol. It’s ok if you know because I did not know when I first got here.

There are not very many Christmas lights up yet but the city has put up quite a few. Every lamp post is a star and there are quite a few in all the squares here. I say square as in like Temple Square or I could say park but some of them don't have playgrounds.

Today, for p-day some missionaries and some other members played soccer). Ii think I play better as a goalie than a runner so I havw a goal that by the time I go home, I will challenge Thomas to try his best to make a goal on me. Then I will let Eric Burdett know to keep practicing his skills of soccer during his mission.
DID you HEAR that Thomas? I just gave you a challenge. I don't think that you could make a goal on me when I get home. That is right, I said it almost to your face.

Speaking of what I need and of soccer: Ii need some better shoes to play soccer in. hint hint to anyone that wants to send me a birthday present…maybe! The shoes have to be stylish. So, let’s us see here, that means NOT from my little brothers and, no offense to you, dad. Oh for sure, not mother. oh man!!!!!!! I would trust Ryan Moe and my two little sisters, Kylie and Krista. and any other girl that is one of my friends. That also leaves out aunts and uncles. lol. Oh, and a small toiletry bag would be nice too.


Do you want to know something really annoying? I tell people to respond back. Hardly anyone ever does, only my mother and my father and occasionally a sibling and a couple of friends every once in a while. I do appreciate those extra efforts.

And family, thank you for the wonderful music-playing Thanksgiving card that sings. "Another one bites the dust". It was a hit with Elder Braga and Sego and my companion.
