Can you tell I am excited about being a family of 4?

The Scoop...

Ok, so here are the details of receiving our great news. Dusty and I were on the phone last Thursday morning (I was being less than cordial as I had felt like another week was passing by with no call) for some reason we had it in our heads that if it hadn't happened by Wednesday - it wasn't going to happen that week. In the middle of our conversation my phone beeped and it was Kimberly our social worker and friend. We had emailed back and forth that night before (yes, I was pouting to her) and even though she said she wouldn't call unless it was "the call" I was still thinking she might be just checking up on me. I told Dusty "it's Kimberly", he said "shut up!", me "noI'llcallyoubackbye" (that was me saying it really fast - ha). The first thing I asked her was "are you just checking on me?" and her response was "you know I wouldn't do that!".

I was so excited. She told me about this little boy born on April 26th and my heart was racing! A few minutes later there was an email in my inbox that said "referral". What a happy moment. I immediately called Dusty back and just said "it's a boy"! He came straight home and I somehow managed to not look at it until he got home. We read through all of the information on this sweet baby. We sent the paperwork to an IAC (International Adoption Clinic)and they looked over his medical history, etc. and sent back a great report Friday afternoon. Around 4:00 on Friday we called Kimberly and Jan at our agency to tell them this little guy was our son! They were so excited for us and I was totally freaking out at the realization that I was the mom of 2 (well 3 if you count Dusty - ha) adorable little boys.

When Cole woke up from his nap at about 4:30 we had the video camera out and told Cole we had a big surprise for him. I said "You have a brother" I told him his name was Jae and he said "yes". We showed him a picture of Jae on the computer and he leaned into it and said "HI!" and "my brother!". It was SO priceless - what a sweetheart. He will be a great big brother. We made him a shirt that says "Meet my little brother" and has Jae's pic on it and when people ask him who it is he says "Jae! My brother".

About seeing Jae's picture for the first time all we can say is absolute love at first sight!

Isn't he just adorable?? We are so happy and thrilled to be given the opportunity to be his parents. I will post more details later. Right now we are just soaking him in!

It's A Boy...Just Kidding!

I know, that was so mean. We DO have a new baby boy in the family though. Kolt Lee Middleton was born last Friday 8lbs. 9oz. and is a beautiful baby. Kolt is son to Melissa (Dusty's sister) and Kerry and new little brother to Max, Mason, and Kinley. It is so great that he has a ton of jet black hair while is two brothers are red heads and his sister is a blond. We had a great time being there for his birthday and playing with the cousins. Hopefully we will be sharing similar news soon! Here are a few pictures to enjoy!

Just thought I would post a few pictures of what we have been up to around here. Football season is always so fun because it is a given that we are going to get to hang out with family and friends every Saturday. Ok, so we did go to the OU/TX game last weekend. It was a LOT of fun (besides the outcome of the game) and I cannot believe I didn't take ANY pictures!! I know, shame on me! We had a great time Friday shopping with the Schuermann's and then meeting up with some old friends that evening. Saturday and Sunday we just had an incredible time with my family. I love you guys so much and am so glad that this is a family tradition - it was soooo fun! We missed you Alison and Dan - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI Baby!!

Just wishin', and hoping, and thinking, and praying...

I couldn't sleep at all last night. Bet you can't guess what was keeping me up? I just kept praying for our baby all the way on the other side of the world. It is such a strange feeling to know they are there and we just haven't met yet. I sure hope we hear something soon.

Amazing Family...Incredible Gift!

I have to share with you the story of an incredible gift given to us by our brother-in-law Kerry and many others. While we were at the lake a couple months ago Kerry and Melissa (Dusty's sister) called us up to their room to give us something. It was an envelope that contained a rather large amount of money. We were of course shocked and wondered what was going on? That is when they told us it was a donation to help us bring our baby home. Tears began to flow (I am crying again while writing this) as Kerry explained that he has been cutting hair (yes, he's awesome)on Fridays at his work for donations for our adoption. He had been doing this for a few months and even has a few regulars! We were, and still are, just in shock at this gift of time, talent, love, and sacrifice. What an example of God's love and provision this has shown us. People who have never met us are helping bring a child into our family from across the world. There are no words to thank you enough - may your gifts and blessings be returned 10 fold!

To the Middleton family - Kerry, Melissa, Max, Mason, Kinley, and soon to be sweet baby Kolt, We love you guys dearly and cannot thank you enough for this precious gift. All who meet you know that you are a family of "doers". You actually hit the pavement when needed (be it stranger or family) and truly look out for others. What a gift for our children to know how much they are desired and loved by their entire family.

To Newell-Rubbermaid, Thank you so much for your part in helping us bring a child into our family through the miracle of adoption. By allowing Kerry just a few hours on Friday you are giving us an incredible gift!

To those of you who trust Kerry to cut your hair - we thank you!! Ha! Kerry has told us about you and we are humbled by your generosity. Specifically, Jackson, Joe, and Audrey Ford, Logan Clark, Chad Zimmerly, and Ken Taylor. We cannot wait to say thank you in person and bring our new little one up to meet you all!
