Truffula Tea on TpT

Last Friday, before our break, I decided to treat my kiddos {and Ms. Thomas and I} to a little Truffula Tea! 

It was the perfect way to leave for our Spring break since we had seen "The Lorax" the previous day.

The littles loved the movie! 

Anyways, on to our "Truffulla Tea"…

We created this little treat, to go along with a writing activity I had planned for my class. 

How cute is the Truffula Tea? Love. 

My kiddos completed a writing activity for "How To Make Truffula Tea". My littles were not allowed to dig in until they were finished with their writings!  

But I am pretty sure it was worth it! They loved it :)

My kids are just keeping it real...

One of the good and bad things about those little ones we teach… they like to keep it real. They are constantly calling their teachers out! They notice everything, and they are unfiltered! ha 

It can lead to funny moments!

For example: today Ms. Thomas and I decided to have our students complete a compare and contrast of us! Ms. Thomas may have been insulted when kids were calling her "big"… kid terms for taller than Ms. Simoneaux. Just didn't translate well. AND may I add she is only a couple inches taller than me! Geez.

However, my favorite contrast:

Ms. Thomas- white, Ms. Simoneaux- Tan

Why thank you, glad you noticed my glow? Or fake tanner I put on ha! A little jersey shore? Maybe. 

And how sweet… our kiddos think were "cute". Bless their little sweet hearts. Love them.

We also did a compare and contrast with "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and "The Day it Rained Hearts". I stole the craftivity from Ms. T! You may have seen her pictures yesterday!

Question Anchor Chart: For my kiddos still struggling with how to start an asking sentence. 

We also started our unit on insects. I am oddly too excited about this? Although I am not a fan of a creepy crawler, so far I have loved teaching this! 

And last… before I left school today I started my Lorax door (which I saw on pinterest). We will be seeing this soon in theaters! I cannot wait to add to this with student work and of course truffulas trees!

I cried, I laughed, it was better than Cats...

The Cat in the Hat that is.

With the combination of Dr. Seuss' Birthday and Mardi Gras shutting down the city, I am tuckered out. Here is a little update of some of the activities from last we did to celebrate the two holidays!

Here is my Teacher bestie and I, in our Thing 1 and Thing 2 outfits... would you expect anything else?

For one activity I read to the class, "Happy Birthday to You" By Dr. Seuss. 

The students and I discussed why it is important to be ourselves and how special we are because of our differences. We then created self portraits, which was inspired by Leslie Ann, she always has adorable ideas!

Afterwards, the students completed the following writing prompt: "I am I because____________." The students filled in the blank with traits they thought made them special and unlike any one else!

Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the activity "If the Cat in the Hat went to a Mardi Gras parade he would..." that Ms. Thomas created for our team. We read the Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss and discussed how mischievous that Cat was. The students came up with great ideas of how he would cause a little chaos at a Mardi Gras Parade.

Every year my school puts on a Mardi Gras Parade the day before the Mardi Gras Break. 1st through 5th grade line the hallways as the Pre-K and Kindergarden class parade their mini shoe box Mardi Gras floats down the halls and throw beans and candy. It's intense, I cannot lie... but the students LOVE it.

and here are my students with big smiles and beads at the end of the day... and then I gladly welcomed my 2 day break! :)
