Last night history was made in the United States of America. The first African-American man was elected to the highest office as the President. Senator Barak Obama from Illinois received a 53% popular vote and 349 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 votes needed, and was declared the 44th President of the United States. Here's the results

here. His campaign was run brilliantly. The loss of the presidency for Senator John McCain is a sad one. Here is his
speech. He could have rested and enjoyed the rest of his good life. He has given so much to this country. But he wanted to give more. And with the popular vote, America gave him 46%. That's still a lot of people who wanted McCain. Maybe President Obama will appoint John McCain as the Secretary of Defense. Who knows...
Our family sat around the television as history was made last night. Kolby wrote about the results for extra credit and Brady compared his predictions to the results as part of his history class. We will now watch and see what the future holds for us and this new President of ours.
Today we have a new President of the United States of America. Barack H. Obama was sworn in as our country's 44th President. He is the first African-American to become President in the United States. So today has been historical and the media is all over it. Even though Barack Obama wasn't my candidate of choice, I did feel emotional as I watched the crowd of people who gathered in Washington D.C. just so they could be apart of this great day. There has been a feeling of unity and it's amazing to see all the American Flags and the excitement that has surrounded our new President. Maybe he is the President we need at this time. All I can do is pray for him and pray for our country.
