Rani's 1st Track Meet

This year, Rani joined the track and field team at her school. They have been practicing for a couple of months and this past week was the meet. It was held in a high school stadium and she was awesome. She competed in hurdles (the hurdles were tiny and adorable), 100m race, standing long jump and the 200m relay. For the individual events they competed in groups of about nine other girls. Rani got third place in the 100m race and hurdles. Her relay team took second place out of five schools. We had so much fun watching her compete because she was smiling the whole time. Afterwards she kept talking about how it was like being in the olympics because of the cheering crowds.

Memorial Day Weekend in Canada

The kids had school off on the Friday before and Monday after memorial day so we loaded up the van and headed north. We had so much fun visiting Grandma and Grandpa Lee, Auntie Andi and Uncle Jared, Jordan, Nathan and Lucy, and Uncle Zach. The weather was absolutely perfect and the weekend flew by way too quickly. We can't wait for summer so we can continue where we left off!

4th Grade Project

Rani has been studying the Oregon trail at school and at the end of the unit they were asked to build covered wagons. We had a lot of fun coming up with ideas for Rani's wagon. I especially like Rani's little bridge over the river. What you can't see in the picture are little items that she made to put in the wagon. There are tiny blankets, bags of grain, tools and little barrels for water.

Pinewood Derby 2009

L.J. is having a lot of fun being a cubscout. The highlight of the experience so far would have to be the pinewood derby. Matt and I were a little stressed out about it because Rani's car had won her derby a year ago and we weren't sure we could pull it off again. Well , we were right, but we sure had fun! (I should have known the competition with the scouts would be much higher.) It was fun to see all of the different designs and we are already planning next year's car.
