We got free tickets for a hockey game from Kone so George and I decided to give it a try. At the beginning of the game they asked the audience to rise for the National Anthem. As the music began, I overheard a little girl in front of us say, "I love this song!" I was moved by her innocent comment. We should all love that song...

Colorado Christmas

We spent our Christmas vacation in Colorado. We were all hoping for a white Christmas, but no such luck. Grace learned to blow bubbles with bubble gum and Benjamin learned how to walk down, rather than crawl down, stairs.

Ashley's 4th Birthday, October 15, 2008

Ashley was princess for a day on her 4th birthday! Grandma Merkley made chocoate cupcakes for Ashley's "real" birthday on Wednesday. (Ben really enjoyed them as you can see!) Then, for Ashley's Princess Unicorn Party on Saturday, we all stayed up until the wee hours of the morning baking, cleaning, and decorating. Grandma Merkley was such a trooper through the whole process. Grandma Gould made Ashley's Castle birthday cake, complete with unicorn. It turned out beautifully. I thought it was a special bonding moment--3 generations of women working together in the kitchen. I will always remember it.

Grace Lost Her First Tooth, October 14, 2008

Grace needed to pull out her tooth for a weeks now. We are so relieved that it's over! Grandma Gould came to town to visit our new home, and took notice of Grace's loose tooth. Somehow, she talked Grace into trying to pull it out with dental floss. Grace tried to pull 2 or 3 times, but in the end, she turned the floss over to Grandma who gave the final pull to get it out. We all cheered for her! Grace was so excited for the Tooth Fairy's visit--she came in our room in the middle of the night squealing with joy, "The Tooth Fairy came! The Tooth Fairy came! She left me $2.00!"
