Silly Lily!

I have a very silly baby. I went into the kitchen not too long ago, and this is what I found...

A drawer full of Lily!

Pretending to eat playdough.

Wondering, "Hmmm. How do I get out of here?"

"Maybe I'll just stay."
What a VERY silly Lily.

Sara is 3!!!

Our sweet little Sara turned 3 on March 22.
She is such a blessing in our family.
She is so sweet and soft.
She hardly ever fights or complains.
Even when she was a baby I would put her down and forget
where she was because she was so content and happy.
She has such a fun imagination. I love to listen to her play in the basement with friends
and sometimes just by herself.
She loves to pretend that she is a cat.
She makes us call her "Baby Cat" and sometimes
"My Little Pony."
Her favorite books are Pinkalicious! and Wild About Books.
I love to lay by her at night and read stories and hear about her day.
I love my little sweet girl.

Garrett's Baptism

My two very handsome guys. I was so proud of both of them. Garrett for making the choice to be baptized, and Gary for being worthy to baptize him. There is something so amazing about watching the priesthood in action.

Here's all the men who took place in the confirmation (and a few who didn't).

Our (un)Official family portrait.
I know this is a little late, but like I mentioned in an earlier post, my camera was broken (and still is) and so I had to steal these pics from my SIL's facebook page. But...better late than never...right?
Garrett was baptized on November 28, 2008. It was a really great day in the midst of some very hard times for our family. So many tears of sadness had been shed, yet on that day, only tears of joy and pride fell. He's such a strong boy. He has such a strong testimony. He's the one who reminds me of what is really important. There have been a few times when he's reminded me of what was the "right" thing to do. He is always listening and pondering and then he'll come up with something so profound I have to check to make sure that it's really an 8 year old boy who said it. I can't believe how fast time goes by. It seems like just yesterday I was holding my new baby boy in my arms and staring at his sweet little face. Even then, he would stare at us like he could see straight through to our souls. I am so grateful for him.

Birthdays and Bear Claw Pins

Wow! I didn't realize how much I have not blogged about. Sorry, I've been a little lazy about posting. So, here's the run down on my life...

Birthdays....

Amy (me) turned the big three oh! Yep, I am now officially out of my 20's. And I think I like it.

Lily turned ONE. She is growing up so fast. She crawls all over the house and thinks that she is so big. She's such a great baby. I don't want her to grow up, but I guess they all do eventually.

Sara will be turning three this weekend. She is starting to get a little attitude. It's sad to see my sweet little girl growing up. And getting sassy.

Trips...

In February I went to St. Louis with Gary's mom and sister and his sister's friend. Fun was had by all. We stayed up late talking, visited the arch and ate dinner at Hooters. I think it would be good for me to get out more often. It was a lot of fun to not have to worry about kids and housework for a while. But boy did I have a lot to do when I got home! Gary was great to watch the kids. I think they gave him a run for his money. By the way, my cell phone bill cost more than my flight!

And Bear Claw pins...

Garrett earned his Bear Claw pin a couple of weeks ago. You earn a bear claw pin when you ski down a run named Bear Claw while making turns and staying in control. He's been going up skiing with me on Saturdays and I am seriously impressed by how well he has done. I'm thinking about signing him up for the Sundance Race Team next year. I love being able to pass on my passion for skiing to my kids. Being a ski instructor definitely has it's perks!

Natalie also earned her Bear Claw. I wasn't going to take her because it is a very steep, very long run. But she insisted. And she skiied it perfectly! She wasn't even scared! She decided that when she's a mom she's going to be a ski instructor up as Sundance. I am so proud of my kids and am so greatful for them!

The ski season is coming to a close and I'm kind of sad about it. But I'm ready for the snow to melt. I love spring.

Time to tune up the mountain bike!!!!

Sometimes it really STINKS to be a mom...

Warning:  The post is not for the faint of heart.  If you have a weak stomach, STOP READING NOW!!!!

I think I am officially out of the running for The Best Mom of the Year Award.  Here's why:
So today Sara came and told me that she needed her diaper changed.  I decided that I'd kill two birds with one stone and do Lily's at the same time.  All was going as planned.  Being the organized person that I am (yeah right!) I got both clean diapers, wetwipes, and both girls into one room.  Then I began to change Sara.  Only, something was missing.  All I could find were two poop streaked legs all the way down to the toes.  So where was the diaper that was supposed to keep that from happening?  On the floor...with all of the poop spilled out onto the carpet.  "Stay Calm," I told myself as I quickly rushed Sara into the bathtub and began filling it up with water.

Then it was off to clean up the mess and change Lily.  Only, Lily had decided to start cleaning up without me.  "Stay Calm," I told myself once again.  I rushed over to Lily only to find her clenching poo in both hands and shoveling it into her mouth!!!  "Ewwww!"  I yelled.  I was no longer staying calm.  In fact, I was seriously freaking out!  That was the most disgusting thing I have ever been witness to.  So, I quickly grabbed a wet wipe and started frantically wiping Lily's hands and mouth.  It was all down her shirt and pants.  I ripped those off and put her in the tub with Sara.  Then, after scrubbing the heck out of her, I grabbed the nearest toothbrush and scrubbed the heck out of her teeth.  I seriously contemplated washing out her mouth with mouthwash, but I decided against it.

And that's not all, the poop was all over the house from the front room to Sara's bedroom.  It looks like it may be time to call the carpet cleaners.  Any suggestions?

Top 10

List of Top 10 Craziest things I've seen at Sundance:

10.  Rain.  In January.  No.  Really.  Apparently my ski pants are no longer waterproof.

9.  People teaching their children how to ski by saying, "Okay, now just point your skis down the hill...No...stop...turn...watch out for that...turn!  Turn dang (word has been changed because this is a family friendly site) it!"  Come on already!  Pay for a dang lesson!  Your child will thank you someday when they don't have a broken leg!

8.  Children on leashes.  while skiing.  yeah, that will really teach them how to ski on their own.

7.  People skiing in jeans.

6.  Flourescent ski gear from the early 90's.  My favorite was the old guy in pink from head to toe.

5.  Friends teaching friends how to ski by saying, "Just do what those ski instructors are doing." While eavesdropping on one of our clinics.  But at least they're not putting them on leashes.

4.  Groups of ski instructors "learning" how to ski in a perfect wedge.  You would think at this point we would know how to do that, but you'd be surprised at the skill needed to perform the perfect wedge demo.

3.  Men skiing with their babies in backpacks (you know, the hiking kind).  Not very safe.

2.  Trucks slid off into the river because they were driving way too fast down the canyon.  Why is it always the people with 4-wheel drive stuck in the snow on the side of the road?  Hmmmm.

1.  Ski instructors skiing with garbage bags over their uniforms and taped to their legs because apparently nobody's uniform is waterproof.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I sure did!
