Back to Racing...Weekly Race at Soldier Hollow

I just stole some pics from my mom's blog. My sweet parents watched the kids Wednesday night so Jed and I could race at Soldier Hollow for the weekly race series. I absolutely love those races. They are so much fun, so laid back yet you still have to work your behind off. And then you get to see some super speedy pro racers blaze past you, talk about inspiration! :) What made it extra special is my parents came to watch. They are awesome. Jed and I race in the same category, Sport B, which is kind of a weird category. It is really spread out, and there is always a pretty big group. I felt pretty slow still because of my recovering, but not too slow. I also got to ride tonight on the bonneville shoreline and then dropped down into the race course in provo canyon. So hopefully I will make it back to where I was and then some. But all that matters is that I am having fun!!!

Biking in Stanley Idaho! Happy Anniversary to US!

Jed and I got to go away for a night for our 7th anniversary, something we haven't ever done on an anniversary! How sad is that? Thanks to Jed's parents we had a babysitter (the best kind!) and we were on our way! We decided to go to Stanley Idaho and check out some biking trails. I was soooo excited, since I haven't been on my bike much since my surgery. Stanley is this cute little TINY itty bitty town near Sun Valley Idaho, that looks out on the Sawtooth mountains. We had been to the Sawtooths when we were married without children to climb Elephant's Perch(ahhh memories). It was a short trip but we crammed in a lot in two days. It was amazing how it felt like we were gone for a really long time!

This was my absolute favorite part of our trip. And it happened by accident!! On our way we stumbled upon a hot springs that was just magical. It was along the Payette river, and you could swim in the clear blue cold river and then stand under a waterfall of hot water. We just kept going back and forth, we would jump in the rapids and then go lay in the water. It was so awesome. We were in heaven. And it wasn't one of those stinky gross hot springs, it was constantly flowing and clear and I wish I could go there right now. We stopped there on the way to Stanley and on the way home.

This trail was called Fisher Creek. It is a classic trail, one that is recommended. It was 17 miles with a pretty long fire road at the beginning, which normally would be annoying, but is was really pretty and enjoyable. Then you have a super steep uphill on the end of the fire road, and then it is pretty much downhill, smooth and winding forever! We took a little detour which I think made it more like 22 miles to a meadow. I didn't bring enough water and I think I got dehydrated, so that was a bummer. The trail is super exposed because it was a burn area, so there wasn't much shade. We had a great time though.


On the way home we stopped in Idaho City, which is a funny little town, totally old western style. It was completely dead, and it was a Saturday night. We got ice cream and walked around. Lots of fun. Especially being with my husband!

Cabin Fun Victor Idaho

We went to Victor Idaho to stay at Jed's Uncle John's cabin with Jed's parents and his brother Zac and his wife Carlee. It was sooooo much fun, we did so many fun things and it was a needed break. The kids just loved it there, they called it "the home cabin". Bear with me, I posted quite a few pictures, we have a million more I wanted to post! It was so beautiful there.

We went up to Targhee and played frisbee golf. It was pretty fun, but I am really super bad at it!

The guys made a bunch of obstacles to ride on one day when the girls went to town to shop. They even made a video about it, you will have to see it on my facebook because it won't upload for my blog. It was pretty funny to watch, they did some really cool things though. I managed to make it across this stupid little board a couple times, which I was proud of, but you should have seen what they did!!!

This is the big red ball. You get inside it like a hamster and roll around. Pretty fun. The kids really loved this. Leave it to Grandma to find the amazing toys.

This was one of the highlights of the trip. We went to a drive in movie!!! How many of those can you find these days!? We were a little hesitant because the movie started at 9:30pm, but we went for it anyways and I am so glad we did. We took all the seats out and brought TONS of treats and blankets and just snuggled up as a family. It was GREAT!!!

Eclipse at Midnight WHAT????

So I am a little embarrassed to say I have seen the last two Twilight movies at the midnight showing. As you can see we went to a big ol eclipse party at the Trolley. These women are hilarious!!! They went all out. I had to take a picture of the decor because it was truly amazing. :) This was a few days after my surgery so I needed a night out of the house. I didn't get home until 2:30 and I just am getting too old for that!!! It was super fun though, and the movie wasn't as ridiculous as it could have been. I need to go and read a really educational book now to redeem myself.

Backyard Bike Course

Here is what Jed has been working on! He is trying to get the backyard finished, which is a huge task. We were inspired by the Vizmegs bike course in their yard so Jed came home and made one. It is awesome. The kids absolutely love it. Zac will go out for hours and play in the dirt, and ride around doing the teeter totter and the bridge and a hill and even some logs to roll over. Jed does it too. :) Chloe and Zac are little naturals. I am sure we will have them race next year if they want too. Next up is a flagstone patio and firepit. We are super excited.
