Talk Like a Pirate Day!

We learned about how Pirates talk.....We took Cornell notes on a web quest and made charts to share our information.

2012-13 School Year!!!

Welcome to fifth grade! I am so excited to start a new year!

As you prepare for your child’s new school year please consider these items:

1. Colored pencils, crayons, notebooks, glue, scissors, rulers, pencils and pencil boxes will be provided.

2. Please do not bring pencil sharpeners, ink pens, gel pens, markers, or crayons.

3. Do not allow your child to bring items to school that can be lost, broken or cause problems in class, such as toys, games, valuable items, iPods, iPads or cell phones.

(Cell phones may be kept in back pack and turned off)

4. Because of limited desk space, please do not send big binders to school.

5. Every student should have a backpack to put his or her homework assignments in. If you have trouble getting a backpack let me know.

6. Please encourage your child to review and memorize all the times tables 0-12 before school starts. (This should be a review from 3^rd grade)

7. Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes each day during the remainder of the summer.

Some parents like to have a list of items that they can donate to the class when they are able to. The items we most need and use in class are:

Tissues, hand sanitizer, #2 pencils, glue sticks

We can use these items anytime during the year and appreciate your donations throughout the year.

Where did this year go!   We have finished our end of level testing and we are in our final days of 5th grade. This week we are finishing up our US World Power unit and taking our Unit 6 literacy assessment.  There will be no homework packets or spelling.  This Friday is 5th Grade Graduation at 9:30 AM in the lunch room.  Last week of school: Tuesday, May 22 is our last Mini Mall. In the afternoon of that same day will be our 5th grade activities with the fire truck coming to spray us off.  On the last day of school we have an awards assembly at 9:15, lunch has been moved up to 10:45 and we will dismiss at 12:00 noon.  Thanks Parents!  For all your help and support and donations of time, tissues, refreshments and much more.
