Almost to Kindergarten

Yesterday Kenna's little preschool class put on a program called "We Love Spring!" When you have a little group of 5-going-on-6 year-old's what is there not to love? Here she is waiting to start. Love the squint:

Next to her on the left is a cute little preschool friend who broke her leg right down by her foot where the tibia and fibula meet. Last week they had a little park day for preschool where the moms and kids met for a while. This cute little Kimberly fell off some of the bars at the playground, and even though at the time it seemed to not be too big of a deal, the poor thing ended up having major break!

Kenna started off the program with her line:
"Sssh! If you look quietly you will see, baby birds chirping up in the tree!" She was marvelous.

They sang some cute songs and then each of the children got a little award. Here is Miss Marisa giving Kenna her Shining Star Award for "kindness and including others":


We were so proud! She is a sweetie and has a tender heart for others. I think she was proud herself, and was especially glad to finally be able to bring home her crayon case.


Way to go Miss Kenna! We sure love you and are so proud of you! Dad even got away from work for a bit to come see the program. Now my dear, on to KINDERGARTEN! And then Miss Allie will take her place as our preschooler in the house. I think it's safe to say Allie is very excited to be in preschool next year.

MAY

Yep, it's May. At least when I look at the calendar it is. When I look outside I see.....


That was May 18th. We are well into May- not even close to April. Or January for that matter.

Sigh.

At least there's hope. Just last Saturday we had this:


Short sleeves! (Pay no mind to the girls attire- just for the record, I had no part of their wardrobe choice.) Granted, it really wasn't warm enough for this....


...but the girls absolutely insisted we put out the pool. If we didn't, it was sure to be certain doom and the world would come to a complete stop! I tried to warn them it was a bit too cool, but according to them it was just perfect for a swim.

After all, who am I anyway? I'm just the mom, what do I know?

After about 15 minutes they had a case of the shivers and were done. BIG surprise. How ever was I able to predict that one?


Maybe at least one of my children will give me some form of merit....

...Hmmm, I don't know. He's a boy. T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Especially if he is anything like his dad!

SEVEN

SEVEN YEARS AGO TODAY.....

....I became Mrs. Brittney Israelsen. Seven. Seven years! It's amazing to me how time goes by. I love how each year changes and molds our lives. Combine the fact that this time of year seems to be pretty darn hectic, we have 3 small children, and live far away from dropping off our kiddos for the weekend at Grandma's house, so Jacob and I will celebrate our anniversary with a simple night out on the town. But really, we don't need extra bells and whistles and hoo dee doo. I'm simply looking forward to a nice quiet dinner where we can laugh, be with each other (sans kids), and pat ourselves on the back for a terrific seven years. Then step right on in to another great year.

Oh, and possibly step on in to the store on the way home to get another plunger. Nothing says marital bliss more than a backed up toilet on the eve of your anniversary and the only plunger in the house being clear downstairs. Good thing I married a man with some good fast running legs. He got that plunger up the stairs lickety split! Apparently we haven't been very successful at teaching the girls to use a limited amount of toilet paper.

Marital bliss, I say, marital bliss.
