Growing Up

Julian starts kindergarten tomorrow. He has to be at school at 8:35 AM. I remember when he was born thinking, one day he's going to grow up. He's going to go to school, he's going to go on a mission, he's going to get married and have babies of his own.

I can't believe that we are already here. I can't believe that he is growing up so fast.

This isn't the first day of school photo, that will happen tomorrow. But he's grown up so much. It's awkward for me to be sending him off to school. I will miss him. Tennyson will miss him. I just hope that he feels good and safe and happy and that the other kids are nice to him. Either way, I'll be there to pick him up at 11:35, excited to celebrate in his new found freedom. This is the beginning of many more years of letting him go and experience new things. Let's hope I can do this gracefully.

Misc

Isn't she adorable? 10 Months old already. 20 pounds 10 ounces. She has 7 teeth and likes to stand up. She's not walking yet but she's been crawling for almost 3 months. Life is good. She's even growing hair :)

We went camping at Jordanelle Resevoir a few weeks ago (before back surgery).  The kids and I went up early during the day, got camp set up and played in the water for a few hours. Tennyson built his first sand castle, Julian loved playing in the water and I got to sit still for a while as Alanna slept. It was wonderful. We will definitely be doing this again.

It's not letting me fix these photos and this text is not actually a link - even though it looks like one. We went to Krispy Kreme and the kids had a great time. And they got a free donut. What's better then that?

While JD and I were at the hospital my friend took the boys to the pool. They spent several hours and they thought it was amazing. Julian got very wrinkly. Tennyson got very tired and wouldn't cooperate for photos. :)

This is John-David's MRI of his back. You can see a bulging disc (second from the bottom) and the ruptured disc (the bottom most grey thing between the bones) and how it ruptured and was pinching his spinal cord. Yuck. No wonder he couldn't walk and was in excrutiating pain. He's doing much better and is feeling great.

10 Years

Here's a better post for our anniversary. Looking back through our pictures, the first 5 or so years of our marriage weren't very well documented, at least not with digital pictures. I need to spend some time scanning photos and updating everything. But, here is 10 years of marriage.

Other than the bangs, and the fact that I have gained and lost 65-80 pounds 3 or 4 times, we don't look too different. Or maybe we do. who knows. I just know we're happy and our lives just keep getting better.

My Heart is Full

Our 10 year anniversary was on Friday August 10, 2012. It was rather uneventful when compared to what it might have been. But, it was wonderful. We stayed at home, as a family, ate a yummy dinner, watched a new movie, stayed up too late and snuggled together. Our whole family. All 5 of us. It made me so happy.

JD had unexpected back surgery on Wednesday August 8. He's been in a lot of pain the last 8 months. On Monday he came home from work because he couldn't stand, in fact it was all he could do crawl through the house. By Tuesday morning he could barely move. I took him to the ER at 5:30 AM and he stayed there. He had a herniated disc that was compressing his spinal cord and causing enormous amounts of pain. He is feeling much better. He's up and walking around, and he's home. He can't sit for more than 15 minutes an hour for the next 2 weeks and should stay out of a car for as long as possible. We like having him around. It feels good to have all of us together.

I like the complete feeling that I have. I am grateful for good friends who come over to watch my kids at the last minute, that bring us meals so that I can focus on my husband and kids, that call just to make sure that we are all doing ok. I am grateful for my family who has been praying for us and helping as much as they can. This week has been an adventure, for sure.

This experience has answered prayers on many topics. I am grateful for a Heavenly Father who watches over us and knows our needs. I am grateful for priesthood blessings and the power and faith of those who offer those blessings.

More than anything, I am grateful for John-David. I am grateful that we are sealed together for eternity. I am grateful that I get to spend my days upon this Earth with him and then every day after that for eternity. I cannot imagine anyone else I would rather be with. He helps me see more in myself then I would have on my own. He helps me have the courage to explore new things and to have the courage to fail at those new things (or even fail at old things). He is my best friend and my spouse and my co-parent and in all things my equal and I am so grateful that we chose each other.
