Project Life Week 35: September 2 - September 8, 2011


Friday, September 2


Another nice day at home just playing and cleaning the house. That night we ate dinner with our friends the Ewings. It's so nice to have friends with kids around the same ages. Colton loves visiting Jackson and playing with his toys! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of our evening, but you can just imagine lots of toys, running and happy boys!

Saturday, September 3


Relaxing morning at home. Lots of playing. Then that evening, we dropped the boys off with Papaw and Karen while Jack and I went to our friend Allyson's wedding. It was such a fun evening and I know the boys had a great time visiting Ringo  (and Papaw and Karen, too!)

Sunday, September 4


Boys spent the night so Jack and I enjoyed a day to ourselves. Went to church, lunch with friends and then headed over to pick up the boys! Colton and Papaw made a special trip to Home Depot and somehow found Braum's on the way home! Colton had the evidence of a chocolate cone all over his face. Thanks for watching the boys for us!

Monday, September 5

Labor Day! Finally took some pictures today. Grandad and Grandma took Colton out for a special treat to the Rainforest Cafe. He had a great time! He also got to go to the mall afterwards and play at the play area. Thanks for a great time Grandma and Grandad!

Later that day we headed to the "school" park and enjoyed the cooler temperatures! They have so much fun playing together.

My couch potatoes watching Dora after a busy labor day! I thought it was cute how they were laying the same way :)

Tuesday, September 6

First Day of Preschool! This was taken after school because it was pretty busy that morning getting us all to school. I'll have to get a backpack picture soon!

My first day of teaching the 2 year old class went pretty good. The day flew by. We had lots of tears at drop off and naptime but it will only get better each day. Most of my class has never been in school/daycare so this is a big transition for them.

Wednesday, September 7

I love the fact that I get to see my boys during the day! I usually see Caden at recess and Colton walking down the walk to go outside. This day also marks a turn around in Colton's potty training. After a solid month of daily accidents he stayed accident free at school and has kept it up for 7 days straight! I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it sure is nice to be back on track! We celebrated by going to McDonalds (the one with the pirate ship) and getting ice cream cones all around!

Thursday, September 8

Best day of 2011 by far! My new neice, Emma Kaye was born at 7 in the morning to Zach and April!! So excited! She is beautiful and I can't wait to spoil her rotten. This is Zach and Kristi (April's sister).

The boys and I went to visit Baby Emma (or my Emma as Caden calls her) after school. They were so good in the waiting room and enjoyed meeting their newest cousin! As we were leaving the hospital we saw this helicopter taking off.

Week 34 August 26-September 1

Project Life Week 34: August 26-September 1, 2011


Friday, August 26

 The boys and I headed out to our favorite park (Limestone Quarry). We picked up our friend Colt and took  our bikes on the trails. Along the trail we found a great playground just tucked in the woods. It was so fun to discover that. The boys did great on their bikes and hot wheels and I think we covered 2 miles.

Later that night, Bunny came over to help me with my class and then we ate pizza and played with the boys while Daddy had his football draft. It was a fun evening and I even got to run to Kohl's after the boys got to bed thanks to Bunny!


Saturday, August 27

It took until August but we have fallen in love with our neighborhood pool. I was scared to take them by myself for the first part of the summer, but we figured out that the boys are just content to stay in the "little" pool so that makes it much more doable! This Saturday we took off to the pool while Daddy mowed and then he met us there. There are 3 boys in the video. One is just a random friend we met that day. The other two are mine :)

Doodle Buddy on the iphone is one of Colton's favorite games! He prefers to play it on Daddy's ipad because it's "cooler" according to him. Here's one of his creations. Don't know why it's upside down.

 Later that night, we went to Whitewright to visit Grandma and Grandad.

It's always fun to visit Grandma and Grandad! We had Ritz chicken casserole (made by Grandma) and it was delicious. We put their pj's on before we left to head back home thinking they would sleep but they jabbered on and on for the whole ride home :)

After church, lunch and a quick trip to the library with Colton, Bunny came over and we painted the shelves in my classroom  and finished up a few bulletin boards. Thanks Mom for all your help!!

 Meet the Teacher night and my classroom is finally done. I went with an owl theme. It was so much fun to decorate!

 I'm going to put pics of the kids in the tree.

 Circle Time is used very loosely in a 2 year old class :)

Kids' folders. I wrote them a note that said "We're going to have a hoot in the TWO's class this year!"

Project Life Week 33 August 18-25, 2011

Thursday, August 18

 We found this idea on Pinterest. It's from a blog (I need to give credit, but I can't remember off the top of my head...). Anyways, you have your child find a certain letter/s (in our case - the letters in his name) and cover only those letters with colored water using a dropper. Colton took it very seriously and loved it!

 Caden missed the point but enjoyed squirting the water in every circle and in his mouth.

 No, we haven't converted to a new religion, but these two hooligans could always use a little extra prayer. After coming in from outside and playing in the pool, I make them stay on the towel until we get dry clothes. They were just being silly and of course whatever Colton does, Caden copies!

 Every once in a while we have an indoor picnic in the living room and watch tv while we eat lunch or dinner or breakfast. It's nice to just shake the crumbs outside and saves Mommy's sanity on some days.

 Colton said he could hear the ocean in these Potato Heads....

Friday, August 19

 So, just keeping it real - this is the next day and the boys have on their same clothes from yesterday, which means we let them sleep in their clothes and we must have skipped bath :) We keep Friday night dinners simple and either have hot dogs or pizza. This was a hotdog spider/octupus/crab.

 Colton played with these potato heads off and on for two days straight. Here he is making a silly face to illustrate how silly this guy is - He named this guy "Eye Guy" because he has a double set of eyes.

Saturday, August 20

 Today was a fun day! We had 2 friends with birthday parties back to back. The first one was at the Fire Station. It was so fun and the firemen were extremely patient with lots of little kids! First they had a demonstration of how to be safe near fire and then the firemen showed them how they put on their uniform. Next we toured the station and got to climb in the fire truck!

 Our next party was at our friend Ryan's house. He turned 1! Colton and Caden loved decorating the sugar cookies and I tried not to watch how many sprinkles they consumed!

 We came home and Mommy planned for both boys to take really great naps, but Caden fell asleep in the car on the way home and decided 15 minutes was enough nap for one day. Colton didn't nap either so as soon as Daddy got home from working on his presentation we  Mommy persuaded him that we needed to get out of the house and headed to the mall for an early dinner, play area and then an early bedtime!

 Thankfully, they still don't need quarters to have fun on the machines!

 Sunday, August 21


Not many pictures, but Colton had quite an imagination today. After church, I took him over to Bunny's house so I could go to my friend Allyson's wedding shower. All the way to Bunny's house he told me a story about his pet owl named Cuckoo. It was a snow owl that lived in his backyard and instead of sleeping in the day, it stayed awake so it could play with Colton. We stopped at a store on the way to Bunny's and he even told all the salespeople about his pet Cuckoo the owl too. Such a fun age! Thanks Bunny for watching Colton and Daddy for watching Caden!

 Here are the boys in Bunny's chair. After the shower, Daddy had to work more on his presentation so the boys and I went back to Bunny's to eat dinner and hang out. Colton somehow managed to to convince Bunny that he needed new shoes so she took the boys to Kohl's and let them pick out a pair. Colton is a very efficient shopper. He found a pair that had Lightning McQueen on them (his only stipulation for shoes), tried them on and then climbed back into the cart and announced he was done. Of course, Caden wanted the exact same pair that Colton had so we had to search high and low for the same shoe in his size! Thanks Bunny for a fun afternoon and for the boys' new shoes. They were so excited to wear them out of the store and even asked to sleep in them that night!

Monday, August 22
No pictures today. We went to the grocery store and the boys enjoyed eating lunch at Target. Colton's new saying is "I've always dreamed of doing this" and he said that about eating at Target! What can I say? He's easy to please. Another Colton quote of the week: "What if spiders get stuck to their own web?" Anyone care to explain that to him??? My answer was that God designed them so that they won't stick to their own web and know how to be careful, but I may need to back that up with some more facts. :)

Caden's quote of the week: "Let's take turns." or  "Let's do it together!" I love his sweet voice at this age!


Tuesday, August 23


Today was the first "official" day of my new job. I got to attend an early childhood conference and it was really good! All the area Christian preschool teachers (over 500) met and we had a keynote speaker followed by breakout sessions. It was so refreshing to talk about education with a Christian viewpoint and many of the classes I got to take will help me with my boys as well as my preschoolers!

That afternoon, we played in the little pool and burned off some energy! They have so much fun sliding into the pool and will do it over and over and over again! I love the fact that they are starting to really play together like friends!

Wednesday, August 24
Day 2 of my conference. Another inspiring day. This evening we had our preacher's family over for dinner. They have three kids about the same ages as ours and they had a great time playing together and it was nice for the adults to get to visit!


Thursday, August 25
Today I worked a few hours in my classroom and enjoyed walking around Mardel without kids! Thanks Karen for watching the boys for me!! I decided on an owl theme for my classroom and had a blast thinking of ideas for bulletin boards and decor. Pictures to come soon. After I got home we all headed to the neighborhood pool and the boys showed Karen their special trick jumps into the water! I love the fact that they stay in the "baby" pool and have so much fun in 1 1/2 feet of water!
