Ouch!

Last week Andrew had his last baseball game and we were all excited to watch.  However, that was short-lived because Adam ended up hurting himself before we even saw the first pitch.  According to a 4 year old eye witness named Preston, Adam was playing and fell down into a raised concrete monument thing.  A nurse just happen to be there and helped Jason clean it up.  A local council member came and found me in the stands and told me that Jason needed help because my little one was hurt.  When I got there and saw that it was Adam I was so surprised.  I thought for sure he was talking about Preston.  The nurse said he needed stitches so we arranged for Andrew to come home with some friends so everyone else could go home and I could go to the ER.

This is Adam in the ER waiting room.  He got a sucker at the ball field and once we made it to the hospital he was his old self.  He was climbing all over the chairs, trying to escape, and trying to push the stroller all over the place.  I kept trying to remind him that his antics were why we were at the ER but that didn't seem to help. :)

The first doctor said they would glue the cut shut and that made me feel better.  But then the head doctor came in and said they really didn't need to do anything.  That was a bummer. Three hours in the ER for them to do nothing.  It's always better safe than sorry though.

We didn't get home until 10:00pm and Adam never acted tired.  I thought for sure he would fall asleep on the 1/2 hour drive home but he didn't.  He still got up at 6:30 the next morning too.  It was like nothing ever happened.

These two pictures were taken the morning after.  Just a little swelling and he's still all smiles.

However, 4 days later his eye did not look good.  It looks like he got a perfect makeup job. :)  He must have fallen really hard.
It will be interesting to see how the cut heals.  Luckily it is right on his eyebrow so hopefully it won't be too noticeable. Like I mentioned before we have been very lucky that he really hasn't been phased by the whole ordeal.  The only time he was upset was right after the accident. Since then he has acted like nothing ever happened to him.  I'm always the one bugging him to look at his eye.

A funny side note about this.  Do you remember a few posts before this about Jason dressed up as the strawberry and how they took him off the field in a stretcher?  Well, at the ER when we were being led back to our room we walked by a stretcher that looked exactly like that one. Adam started yelling and pointing "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!".  Of course it really sounded like "Da-eeeee!, Da-eeeee!, Da-eeeee!"  It was pretty funny.

One Night, Three Different Adventures

A couple weekends ago it was the Fathers and Sons camp out.  This was Preston's first year that he got to go and he was VERY excited about it.
This is the lone picture that Jason took.  They had a fabulous time though.  They went out on the lake in a canoe and caught some fish.  They had a huge bonfire the night before and in the morning they got to swim in the lake.

When Natasha got wind that she was not allowed to go she was furious. She thought that was the most unfair thing she had ever heard!  I decided to try and make a fun special girls night out with her.  I arranged for Adam to go play at Sadie's house so Natasha and I could have some girly fun!

We first went out to eat for Chinese food which is mine and the kids favorite.
We then went and got a pedicure and manicure at the local spa.
She LOVED the way her toes and fingers turned out.  It was very short lived though.  Her fingernails didn't even last 24 hours.  Luckily she didn't get too upset. She had wanted to show her friends at school so Sunday night I re-painted them with my own version of a flower.  That seemed to make her happy.
Here's how our feet turned out.  Luckily her toenails have lasted quite a bit longer.  She wears sandals almost every day to show them off.  She enjoyed her evening and told me that we need to do that more often.

Even though everyone did different things on that Friday night we all had a blast. Even Adam who never gets Sadie to himself had an awesome time.  Thanks Emily, without you it wouldn't have been possible!

Jason the Strawberry

The Strawberry Festival was last weekend and the Chamber of Commerce asked Jason to participate in a local tradition. He got to be chased around a field by first graders while dressed as a strawberry.  The kids were trying to pull the seeds off his costume.  I just had to go watch. The local news was there and filmed it LIVE.  I wish I would have known so I could have taped it.

Adam wouldn't leave Jason's side so he waited too. When they blew the whistle Jason and the other guy (the principle from the kid's school) ran out.  Adam totally lost it! He did not like his Daddy being attacked by all those kids. :)
Ready, set, go!!!

The kids finally reach him. Notice the news caster jumping over the fence in the back to escape the chaos.
They had told Jason to fall down after all his seeds had been taken off.  Here the kids are starting to really get in to it.

When he fell someone yelled "Berry down!"  Then the paramedics came with a stretcher to "rescue" him.
This whole thing was soooooooooo funny! I was in tears by the end. Jason is such a good sport.

Preston's Gymnastics

Preston took a gymnastic class through the Parks Recreation and he really liked it (even though he was the only boy). He was always doing somersaults and flips on his jumpy bed so I thought it would be a good thing for him to learn the right way to do things.

The kids practiced a little presentation for the last day of class. Even though he started the class half way through the year he was really good at it!

Great job Preston!

Preston's Robot

Yesterday Preston locked himself in Andrew's room so he could play blocks. (He locked himself in so Adam wouldn't destroy his creation).  After awhile he called me in to see what he had built.
He called it his robot and he built it entirely on his own.

Our Garden

We finally have a garden! We have always wanted one but never thought we had room.  Last week I was looking at our side yard and started thinking that we probably could fit a little garden in. (The lawn mower barely has enough clearance between the corner of the garden and the A/C unit.) I casually mentioned it to Jason when we were at Lowes on Friday.  He bought some wood right then and by Saturday afternoon we had a garden.  The kids loved to help and they are excited about it growing. Now lets hope that it actually does produce some stuff.  This will be our very first garden so we will be learning a lot this year.  We planted tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, green pepper, watermelon, and cantaloupe.  I know that some of those things take up a lot of room but we wanted to plant things that our kids like to eat. Let's hope for success!

Adam - our little monkey!

Last night Jason decided to give the kids baths.  While I was cleaning up dinner he had three kids upstairs.  All of a sudden I heard chaos erupt and I went to see what was going on.  Natasha was still in the tub and Jason was dealing with a screaming Preston (who had to get out because of splashing water all over the place- it seemed so unfair to him).  I was looking around for Adam when Jason told me he was on the changing table.  I walked in and saw this ...

What a little monkey!  He was smiling and having the best time!  I couldn't convince him that he needed some clothes on either.  I finally had to force it on him and he wasn't too happy about it.  The only reason he stopped swinging was that his hands started to hurt. There's never a dull moment around this house that's for sure!
