Six weeks old

Little Jack man was a little too skinny for a while, 10-15% in weight.  He was just a skinny dude.  I finally gave up the nursing and switched to formula hoping that would fatten the kid up and it did a bit.  It still took a little bit though.

   It also took a while to get used to have a boy and changing diapers and what not.  One day I was giving him a bath on the counter in his baby bath and he peed straight up and into the toaster! I never would of thought that would be a possibility.

Summer Months

I had two months off for maternity leave and it was lovely.  We stayed home for the first week and then after that we were out and about a few times a week.  Splash pads, parks, Costco and Jumpin Jacks were most popular.  Will was busy at football but we did get to steal him every so often to go to the park.  We would also go watch high school football games on Friday nights if Will did not have an away game. It was a great two months of just going at our own pace, playing and getting used to two kids.  Addi as usual was a great help. She was always really good to play outside and let me take a little nap.

For a few days she would spend a long time trying to “plant” this tree branch.  She was very determined.

 

Jack started his thumb sucking right away. We could not convince him a pacifier was cool.

She said……

Mom I need an ice pack and I need to lay down.  I have a bleeding headache.

She tried on a pair of jeans (she had not worn jeans in a while) and said “Hey Mom, look I am a farmer!”. 

Swimming Lessons

Addi did swimming lessons this summer.  There were only her and a boy in her class.  The boy was not a huge fan of being there so it was a lot of one on one time with Addison. Her favorite thing to do was “dive” and get the rings at the bottom of the pool. At the end of the class she was able to float on her back for twenty seconds, go under water without plugging her nose and is more fearless then ever.  She loves swimming in the big pool and asks to go all of the time.

                                                                  

Home Depot

Addi loves going to do Home Depot crafts.  She is getting quite skilled at the hammer and really likes when she gets to paint things too. Thanks Home Depot!!

 

Kids These Days

I don't know if I am being overly sensitive or what but it seems like I have been hearing a lot about how this generation is awful and it is starting to bug me.  How there is little family time, morals, values and on and on.  I agree that there can be a lot of greed, entitlement and all sorts of other problems with "kids these days" and I do believe that the men and women that lived through the depression and WWII deserve the title of "The Greatest Generation."  Everyone needs a reminder about how to act better and to look to our past for good examples, but I am getting sick of all the negative comments being said about our generation.   There is tons of stories and awesome example of children and young adults doing amazing things to help the people around them.  I know this is not amazing or anything but the past four times we have gone to the park the older (around 7 or 8) girls there immediately adopt Addi as their new best friend and help her go down slides, swing and play with her.  We were at another park and there was an autistic girl that was obviously different then all the other kids but they still included her in the group and they all had a wonderful time.  I guess I am trying to say that if you want to see the negative things about this generation then you will.  You will see a lot.  But if you look for the good, you will find it and be amazed.

Coloring

Lately Addi and I have been not been getting along.  Really.  So after multiple melt downs and some realizing that I need to relax just a bit I have been trying to not get mad so fast and let her be little.  I am slowly getting better and I think I can see a change in her too. I am also getting the hang of balancing house work and cleaning and work and kids (well I think so, Will might have a different opinion).  Today I managed get housework done and still had a great day with Addison.  Nothing special was done.  We made Playdough, watched Tangled, ate lunch together and had only one time out.  The best was when we put Jack to bed early and we sat on her floor and colored.  We just quietly sat there coloring and Addi says “I love coloring with you”. I love these little tiny moments. So then obviously I had to grab the camera to remember this moment.  Which of then means she needs to take of picture of me and of course we both can not open our eyes for the picture.
