We're Off To See The Wizard - Revisited

We're Off to See the Wizard the wonderful Wizard of Oz to hopefully get the Tin Man a heart, the Lion courage, and the Scarecrow a brain! But there's the poppy fields to beware of as you could get very sleepy! The Wicked Witch but we know she's afraid of water. The flying monkeys . . . just totally freaky looking!!!! You're probably still dizzy from the spinning whirling twirling house and watching all those things passing by like a nightmare expecially that Miss Gulch on her bicycle! Poor Toto hiding in the basket, but can you blame him? Don't pay any attention to the man behind the curtain as he knows not what he speaks! And then there are the delightful munchkins that sing 3 octives highly than humanly possible. I almost forgot the good witch Glinda - how could I forget her --- she was just too sugary sweet to my standards but as a Good Witch goes, she was the best, but why didn't she just tell Dorothy she had the power to return all along and wait until the end - geesh!And then only bad witches are ugly --- come on now! Its the Merry Old Land of Oz! I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore Toto. . . .

She used different cartridges to make the cuts... I cheated and had hubby create svg files for me because I didn't have all the carts that she used to create the card.  I will be adding the FREE SVG FILE to the freebies soon.  I also created another card using Graphic 45 Wizard of Oz paper.

As every good story, it has a beginning and a happily ever after - Dorothy went home and all was well with the world and Dorothy told Auntie Em - there's no place like home!!!!!! AWWWW how sweet! Variations on a Theme

It's the end of the school year for me, which means cards for colleagues, cards for graduates, and the odd wedding card here and there. I was shopping at Target a while back when I noticed a packet of Gartner Studios Me.Personally printable notecards on clearance, so I bought them. I liked the preppy pink and green combo, and as it turns out, that combo is quite versatile. I used some cuts from the KC Croppers cut swap and some stamps, and turned out a bunch of simple cards quickly. Added bonus- pink, gray and green were the colors my friend used on his wedding invites, so it made his card look look like a custom design (you can't really tell from the pic, but the shadow layer on "Love" is a silver-gray). You gotta love it when a plan comes together ;-)

Mother's Day with Paper Dolls

I saw a really cute picture of a Cricut paper doll someone had modified to look like Sailor Moon, so I felt inspired to try the same with two 80's favorites of friends of mine- Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake. I think they turned out OK for a first effort at paper doll hacking. I also used a paper doll to recreate a Mother's day card for my mom that I made in 2nd or 3rd grade that she had really liked. It's funny how we regress in our old age, isn't it? ;-)

Stick and Spray Meltdown/ Cards on Parade

School is almost out for the summer- yay! That means more time for scrapping and posting. What it may not mean is more time for reconditioning old Cricut mats with C and C International Stick and Spray. I went into my scraproom about a week ago and noticed a very strong smell of Stick and Spray, but I thought it was from the mats I had redone a couple of days earlier. The smell dissipated, and I thought nothing more of it. Then this morning, I was taking cartridges off the shelf in my cabinet to look for cuts for the cut swap, and I saw this:

I wasn't sure what I was looking at- had the adhesive used in building the cabinets been so badly dripped, and I hadn't noticed it earlier? That seemed improbable. I have had these cabinets for almost two years, and I never noticed this before. Then I got to thinking about the stink the other morning... and I looked on the shelf above where I keep my Stick and Spray, and found this:





In all the years I have used aerosol cans, I have never seen one loose it's contents from the bottom, but that is exactly what this Stick and Spray had done. That nasty lump to the right was stuck to the top of the shelf/side of the can where it leaked. It was hard to peel off, too. I'm not sure I'll get that drip off without tearing away some of the veneer of the cabinet. So beware- I guess Stick and Spray has a short shelf life. It was stored in a climate-controlled room, out of direct sunlight for less than two years in my house, and it did this. I hate to think what it could do in a more volatile environment. My husband says we are lucky it didn't pop.

Yikes! I'm sure going to move my remaining cans of Stick Away and Stick and Spray away from my Cricut and cartridges, and even though I think it does a decent job of reconditioning old mats, I'm not sure I'll use it any more once my current supply runs out.

These are just some of the cards I have made this spring. I'll post Mother's day tomorrow. The bunny and the girl are Prima stamps. I am so in love with that line - the little kids and animals are so cute. The chick in egg is a cut I got from the KC Coppers cut swap.
