Trying to fill daddy's shoes..

First Day of Nursery 8/31/08

Kody thinks I am a bit crazy but when Lance went to his first day of nursery I cried. To Kody, nursery meant a chance to enjoy other church meetings without Lance wiggling, giggling, and growling in your arms. To me it meant my baby was growing up. All I could think about was the fact that this was his first step in Church. In a short while he would grow and progress till he was a missionary. Then my little baby would leave me. It's a stretch I know but he is growing so fast, and I feel like I am missing so much of it. Between going to school and now working, I have missed so many of his firsts and special moments. I love my little man, my baby, my Lance.

Strong Man 8/28

Kody successfully tore down our debilitated wood fence and installed and new chain link fence around our yard. We recommend renting a power auger to anyone digging lots of post holes at once. Was well worth $30 to not have to dig them all by hand. We had all holes done in 2 hours.

Overnight Camping 8/25

Kody and I are a little crazy. We got home form one trip and turned around to go on an overnight camp out. Up to Scout Mountain we went with two dogs and a wild little boy. He was so excited. It was fun for Lance, not so fun for mommy. Lance got cold during the night so Kody stuck him in bed with me and slept in Lance's bag. I got a squirming kicking bed buddy all throught the night. I was so happy the next day to go home. The dogs seemed to enjoy it more than anything.

Going to the Zoo 8/23

We decided to go to the Hogle Zoo in SLC. We invited Lances cousins in UT to come with. Callin and Blake went with us to see the animals. We had a lot of fun but wore all the kids out. By the end the boys were already to go home. There was so much to do at the Zoo, between the animal shows, the merry-go-round, and the animals there was so much to do.

Family Trip To Alpine 8/08

For a family trip this year, not that we have not had enough together time, we went to Alpine,WY. On the edge of Palisades Reservoir we stayed in a little cabin.

Lance played with the wood on the porch every day. It rained constantly every day, but we still got several river runs. The last trip was in rain, hail, and ice. Aside from that we also took some trips on ATVs and had fun teaching Kirby to swim. Lance loved the ATVs. (Sometimes a little to much so.) We took a beautiful trail along the ridge line. Most of all we sat around listening to Roger Whittaker and taking.

Great-Grandma's Roses

This summer ( June ) Great-Grandma's roses bloomed beautifully. Though the things have so many thorns I fear pruning and moving any plant!

Catch-up

Well I'm not lazy just busy, but I will be posting a lot the next few days to play catch-up on everything that has happened the last 6 months.

Lance still has his fingers!

Lance became very naughty at grandma's house and stuck is fingers in frying oil that they were heating up to make egg rolls. It looked ok unil 4 hours later. We went to the ER and a few days latter to the burn center in Salt Lake City. But all is good. Skin has grown back and he has not slowed down a bit. (Does not seem to have learned anything from it either.) He is constantly into anything that could be dangerous.


I now know that I need to always have heath insurance. He is going to need it all!!!

The Good-byes

Grandpa Fuller died in June his funeral service was July 5th. My Grandfather was one of my biggest heroes growing-up. I wanted so much to be like him. I always wanted to play a doo-ta-doo (violin) like him and latter in life learned to fiddle with him. So many summers were spent at the old ranch house, it was after ice cream time and grandma had left, grandpa would tell me stories of growing-up, the war, and his family history. Nothing beats the story of having shark for dinner while training in the military.

It is strange. I miss Grandpa Fuller so much, but know that he and grandma are happy together. He is with his Lady.

I will miss them both and the Ranch. I do not know if I will ever get to play in that red dirt road again. See the amazing stars, or stand in the cool monsoon rain.

It is sad, in the last 8 months I have lost all of my grandparents. 3 have passed on, 1 is gone mentally and dwindles physically with Alzheimer's. The people I have strived my whole life to become like, a pharmacist, a musician and teacher, a caregiver, and a steadfast woman of faith have left. I only hope that through the remainder of my life I can make them proud of the heritage they left for me.

I love them dearly, and will miss them till we meet again.

I passed!!!

Just so more than my family knows I passed my licensing exams for Pharmacy. I am a licensed pharmacist. Scarry huh!

Summer Time!

Lance has learned very quickly the joys of summer time.

And of course running in the cool green grass.

The IF Zoo

So, we went to the zoo. At times I wish I could enroll Lance there. He is such a busy little monkey I think he would fit right in.


He had to give every goat a good pat before we left. (Some needed two or three pats)

5 Years!

Last week Kody and I celebrated our 5th anniversary together. We have had a busy and eventful five years. We moved 8 times (6 in the first 2 and a half years), both graduated with our degrees (Kody: Business Management and Administration, Amanda:(PharmD)Pharmacy ), got a dog (Sugar), got a tarantula (Bertha who died last fall of old age), had a baby (Lance), bought a house, drove from Florida back home, we have bought 3 cars (one already died hence the others), and somehow managed to stay together trough all our differences. This is part of a little movie I made for Kody on our anniversary.

Lance is learning about eyes, noses, bellies, and other parts of his body. Unfortunately, he then tried finding them on Sugar.

Road Trip

Kody and I went on a trip to look at possible places to move to next year. We had a lot of fun along the way and have a difficult decision ahead of us. In Missoula we had fun on the carousel. It was the birthday of the Carousel and so all rides were free. We rode several times. Lance was not much of a fan. We saw a B&B shaped like a dog, little vehicles on train tracks, and walked the swinging bridge over a raging river.

Graduation

Three Generation in the same profession, almost to many in one family.

Grandpa Cady

It is amazing how the Lord works. One of the things I wanted more than anything is for my Grandpa Cady to be able to be there when I graduated from pharmacy school. After all, he was the reason I choose that profession. I remember sitting on the floor in the Winslow hospital while he made IVs and discussed things with the doctors. His health had declined to the point that he could not travel or come. He passed away a week and a half before I graduated. One week before my graduation we buried my grandpa. He had said that if he could pass away before I graduated that it would make it possible for him to be there. I feel he was. I will miss my grandfather, but I will always be grateful to those who got him involved in the gospel prior to his passing. To me he was the example of why you never stop praying for the ones you love to find the gospel in their lives. I hope that I make him proud as a pharmacist and that he knows how much of an impact he made on my life. (If you want a good summary on the life he lead read Mariam's Post) I spent almost every summer of my life with my grandparents. They took me to my first day of school. Taught me to be responsible. I learned how when you call 911 when Grandpa collapsed that you need to know the address of the house you are at. Grandpa taught me not to take anything given to you to eat or drink, and that scrap pieces of wood makes good swords. I saw a lot of rocks, petroglyphs, and dessert. I learned to be strong when it was needed. (like pulling grandpa out of Canyon De Chelly) He learned to say I love you, and I learned about travels from all over the world. USSR, England, Romania, Germany, and much more. Most importantly he showed me that as family, we were worth doing all he could to support us. He was always there.

Busy Day

Lance Kody and I spent a day at the zoo. The bear was very big. Lance was most interested in the ducks We had fun but Lance liked the Ice Cream cone even more.

Is It Spring Yet??

Well, it is trying to get warmer. Although this morning we woke to snow, this last weekend during conference was not to bad. Kody got some yard work done. Lance got to play on his play set from Grandma Cady outside (instead of inside his room, as it has been for a month now.) We got to go on a little walk in the sun, even if it was a little chilly. Lance loves going outside. He get worn out a lot still. But, he has cabin fever worse than the rest of us!!

Happy Easter

Easter was spent driving back from Arizona. We got back from Arizona ok. We had gone down for a whirl wind trip for Grandma Fuller's funneral. The funneral was really good. Lance had Roseola and made things interesting. Other than that we are doing good. Amanda started her last rotation at Fort Hall and is getting excited about graduating in two months! Kody is still working hard but looking for a new job. Hopefully he can find one he will enjoy but also give more time with his family. May everyone else have a good week and hope all goes well.
