First Halloween

Torin had two costumes to wear. One mom made for him and the other my friend lent me. In the morning, Torin wore the monster costume and went "trick or treating" at the hospital where I work. They have the local school kids come in the morning to "trick or treat" there.Then in the evening, there was a "trunk or treat" at our town home community that we went to. Torin was a clown there-this is the costume my mom made for him. He is so cute in it.Lori (my property manager) played with Torin and then played with candy. We went home at 6pm and then Torin went to bed at 7pm. He was exhausted from his day of play. Chris got to eat the candy that Torin collected.

Moonlight Madness

I went to Houston this last weekend to go on a bike ride with my mom and sister. It is held at 2am the weekend before Halloween. It is something that my family did when I was growing up. I brought my friend, Eric, with me for some company. It was a really fun ride.If you would like to see more pictures of the event, Check out Christine's blog. Loving on Jasmine

Torin is just loving Jasmine. Since she will lay right next to him, he gets to pet her. It's so cute!

First Play Date

As a first time mom, being in the house almost all the time is new to me. After a while...I go crazy!!! To help my own sanity, I scheduled a play date with my friend (Michelle) and her son (Brock). Brock is over a year old and Torin is almost six months but it was more for us moms than it was for the kids.
Michelle let Torin play with Brock's old exersaucer and Torin loved it! She even let us take it home for Torin to use!!

Learning

Torin is now learning how to hold his own bottle. I am so proud! Plus, now I can get things done while he is feeding himself!!A little messy but he gets the job done.

First Cold Jog

On the morning of the 19th, it was the first day that it was still cold around 10:00am and I was in the mood to go jogging. I bundled Torin up and off we went!

Torin's Journey

Now that Torin can roll from his back to his stomach and stomach to back, he just rolls all over the place. Here is his little journey under the coffee table. I did not move him at all.

CVS

I was really in the mood for some candy and I thought "Why don't I try the thing Christine is trying to get me to do?" So I gathered some coupons and headed to CVS. My bill came out to $24.something and I handed over my Extra Care Card and the coupons. I ended up paying $7.88 out of pocket but I got $2 Extra Care bucks back. It was really cool to get stuff for free. Thanks Christine. Now I am going to try to be psychotic like Christine and not pay anything the next time I go. Whoo-hoo!

What to do?

I needed to replace the nipples that were on Torin's bottles so I was at Walmart and thought I could get some there. Torin had rubber ones on his bottle but the only kind at Walmart were silicon. I thought that would be fine and bought a pack. I went home and tried to feed Torin but he REFUSED to use these "alien" nipples! So, I had to go to HEB and buy the rubber ones. Once a baby gets used to something-they will not change! Lesson learned. Anyway...I guess this is the only use for them now.

Life goes on

Not a lot of new things happened this week. You know, same old, same old. I did finally get new dishes. We now have our first matching set of dishes! Moving up in the world!!Aren't they neat? For those of you who don't know, I make all of our bread. We stopped buying store bread about six months ago. I have finally perfected my bread! My bread was good, don't get me wrong but I was missing one key ingredient...gluten!! It makes a world of a difference in bread. Thank goodness for gluten!!!!!
On my previous post I was explaining the benefits of being friends with the property manager. Well, here is more proof: free baby food! Someone forgets to clean out all of their cabinets in the kitchen and free baby food for me! I usually make Torin's food from fresh fruits and veggies but this is nice to have! Yea friends!!

From Here to Eternity 5K

At 6am this morning, I woke Chris up and we got ready to do our first 5K (3.1 miles) since I got pregnant. This was the From Here to Eternity 5K that was hosted by the Friends of the San Marcos Cemetery. The money raised is to keep the cemetery maintained. Chris was not too happy about being woken up so early.


We picked up Eric on our way there. We all got to race.
I think that this was the hardest 5K I have ever ran. It was so hilly. The first half mile was ALL uphill. They don't call it the Texas Hill Country for no reason!We also got to run through the cemetery. You'd be surprised how hilly that is!Eric won 3rd place in his division and I won FIRST!! I was the only 20-29 year old running but a victory nonetheless. Chris would have placed but he didn't register for the race.
And here is the hand-made trophy for the cemetery run. Cool, eh?
Next run is the Red Ribbon 5K on the 20th!

Torin's New Toy

Now, let me tell you the benefit of being friends with your property manager...
I go in to the Leasing Office to chat with Lori (property manager) when I get bored, so I am there a couple of times a week. She always tells me the scoop on who's trying to pay their rent with a big screen TV and so on. When I went in the other day, she was telling me about two town homes where the people skipped out in the middle of the night without paying their rent. She told me about how messy and nasty the town homes were left blah blah blah. Then she goes into the other room and brings back a toy. She said that it was left in one of the town homes and she thought that Torin might like it. So I took it home and gave it a GOOD bath and let Torin have it. He loves it! Free toy!! I love having cool friends!
It also stands up so he can lay underneath it.

Waco Wild West

Mom and I went on a bike ride on Saturday. We drove to Waco and did the 50 mile race. Here is us at the beginning of the race. Notice how not sweaty we are.

The weather was nice and the terrain was good. There were rolling hills in the middle but at least not at the end. It was long but it was a good ride. The only thing is now my butt hurts! And here is us at the end of the ride.
Can't wait for the next one.
