Gustav

It's safe to say that I do not think I will ever like anyone named Gustav.

I think that we may evacuate tonight - we are still not sure what we are doing or where we may go - we have a few options, though. If it continues westward, we will get a lot of rain and wind but I do not want to risk losing power for several days. We are packing and preparing as if we are leaving - we will make a decision later today. Please keep everyone in this area in your prayers. We don't want anyone to be affected by this storm but N.O. does NOT need this now.

Dates

By the way, with all the mesaurements that she took during the ultrasound, they came out to exactly February 21, 2009. We had no doubt about any of the dates - we know exactly when everything occurred! So, that remains the due date - 3 days prior to Mardi Gras 2009. I am due the day before Endymion - no extravaganza this year!

We had the 14 week ultrasound yesterday and found out that he is a boy! The scan lasted for a good 20 minutes - the tech could not get over how good the pictures were - we saw his brain, bladder, stomach, and 4 chambers of his heart!

We passed over his boy part several times and it was very obvious. We are THRILLED and Gavin II has just been so excited. The tech printed the picture that said "Hi Big Brother Gavin!!" for Gavin II for his to carry around and show people. He was so happy and had me frame the ultrasound picture and put it on the footboard of his bed so he "can see it every time he wakes up". So sweet!

First Real Day!

Today was Gavin's 1st REAL day of kindergarten - where we did not stay with him. He has half days until Wednesday of next week. He was so grown up and so excited about wearing his backpack - it was precious. I drove him and walked him into his classroom and he immediately started playing. I was distracted putting all of his things up and talking to his teacher but when I stopped to tell him goodbye, it all hit me! I teared up and realized that my baby is really in school. Every year, we kept saying, "wow, in 2 years, he'll be starting kindergarten" and then "next year....", now he started kindergarten. I am so proud of him!!

Baby's First Heartbeat

I had my monthly doctor appointment today and all went well. An interesting piece of information is that due to issues my first delivery, I am at a high risk of having to have a c-section. I told him that I realy do not want a section but I also do not want the risks of what another delivery like Gavin's would do to me (no details necessary).

Anyway, the baby appears to be doing great despite the illness! The heart rate was around 174. My ultrasound is tomorrow. Yay! I will post the picture tomorrow. I am so relieved to have heard the heart beat for the first time! It's always a wonderful, welcomed sound!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Today my baby started kindergarten! I cannot believe it. He looks so grown up. He was really nervous this morning but once we got into the classroom, he was great! He reconnected with a few old friends and he didn't even know we were there! It was only a one-hour orientation and Gavin and I were allowed to stay. We got all the parent information while the kids did some activities to get accustomed to the new room. Country day does it so that he will be in this classroom for 3 years because kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade are all in the same room. They are all in different areas. They do their own thing for each age group and then do group activities so that they learn from each other - Interesting!

Time goes so fast. I truly cannot believe that he is in kindergarten! Where did my baby go?? I am SO incredibly proud of how independent he is and how wonderful of a child he is and always has been. I love you Gavin!

12 weeks, 2 days

So here is the progression picture for 12 weeks, 2 days. I do not see much difference from the 9 week picture but I sure feel it! After I eat, I get uncomfortable. Please, again, excuse the appearance - this is post-clinic day for school and after getting caught in the rain.

I got to the doctor next Wed. and then have another ultrasound next Thursday (8/21). I will, of course, post any necessary pictures from the appointment!

If It's Not Me....It's Him!

Yesterday, miraculously after praying for divine intervention to make the vomiting stop, I have felt better. I have also given up dairy which seems to be a big trigger for my vomiting. Anyway, I fee better but poor little Gavin has taken over - he has thrown up twice this morning (once enough to have to wash the covers on the sofa cushions). Poor baby - he is now on a pedialyte / dry toast diet. Daddy says that he needs to stop hanging out with mommy!

Last night, we pulled off a surprise party for Gavin at Rock N' Bowl to celebrate his MBA since he did not have a graduation ceremony. It was SO fun and we had so many people come in for it! It was great and Gavin was very surprised. The party was given byme, Gavin's parents, and my parents. Thanks again to the parents and in-laws!

Congratulations Gavin!

Today, Gavin officially earned his MBA! There is no commencement ceremony for summer so he went and picked up is diploma this afternoon. I am so proud of him. He has stuck with this program since 2003 and finally - he is done!! Yay!! Congratulations, Gavin!

Nothing Like The Ice Cream Man In The Summer

Last week as we were leaving to run errands, Gavin II spotted the ice cream man and it was so incredibly hot that he needed a cold treat. Then the ice cream man turned and we lost him. After 5 minutes of driving through neighborhoods searching for him, we tracked him down. Gavin was so excited because he could get the Spiderman ice cream. He had it EVERYWHERE and that dye does not come off easily. I had to go scrub him down in the Wal-Mart bathroom! It was worth it - he loved it. The best part was hearing him say "nothing like ice cream on a hot day like this!" He makes me laugh so much!
