Exam time

I took two extremely difficult essay exams today. One for Strategic and Global Management, and the other for Business Law. I don't think I did very well on either of them, for a couple of reasons:

1 - I didn't get much sleep because I was up all night coughing.

2 - I'm sick, coughing, and tired today.

and...

3 - I didn't actually start studying until this morning.

It was the first test in both classes. Those are the worst because you never know what to expect. I'll prepare better next time...unless I do really well on them then I'll just do the same thing again. Why ruin a good thing?

Blogspot vs Mac.com

Well, I've been switched over to this blogspot thing for about a week now and feel that it is time to evaluate these options. So here it is, the pros and cons:

Blogspot Pros
pictures uploaded so no space issues for data storage
Comment option
Pretty basic/user friendly
FREE

.Mac Pros
direct access to all iphoto, imovie, and itunes files
Easy to personalize
Much prettier
Drag and drop kind of easy
Very fast
Option to insert google maps or itunes playlists

Blogspot Cons
Very few options for customization
Sometimes difficult/time consuming to upload pics
No music
Not as pretty

.Mac Cons
Issue with data storage because to drag and drop takes up way more space than uploading
$99/year

In the end I have to say that I like .Mac a lot more than I like blogspot. Why use blogspot then? There is just one reason why it won out in the end. One simple word. FREE. Too bad...

Inspired

I just saw the movie "Spirit of the Marathon" with Joyce. Now I'm totally inspired. I'm going to do what everything inside me says I shouldn't and can't do. I must be crazy, but it'll be so worth it when I cross that finish line!

If you go see that movie you'll want to run a marathon. I promise.

I am a wanted woman.

Today started out like any other day. It wasn't until I was on my way to school and my phone started ringing that I realized that it was actually going to be an AMAZING day. The phone call was from Rebecca Gates who was calling to offer me a position on the stage management team at Porthouse Theatre for their summer 2008 position. YAY! I've been worried that I was planning on an internship but wouldn't get it, but I got the offer and am excited!

I was happy as could be continuing throughout my day when my phone rang again. I was in class so I couldn't answer it, but it was a phone call from another theatre. This theatre is in Florida. He said that I just received my resume and is interested in setting up an appointment for a phone interview. TWO IN ONE DAY?! Seriously, I'm happy. It feels great to know what I want to be, and be good enough at it to have options.

This is what Jenni Lou had to say about the Porthouse offer:
"You are so so so awesome!!!! CONGRATULATIONS! I didn't want to say this before, but Liz, they are so so so picky about their stage managers!! They recognize you!!! HA! Just getting this offer is a HUGE accomplishment!"

Sigh..I'm happy,

In other news, everyone's favorite smile passed on today.

We'll miss you Heath.

Total Success! (sorta)

So my trip to St. George was a complete success...mostly. The first night was spent eating and hanging out with Katie, Sam and Robbie. Mostly, I was freaking out about the race in the morning.

After a restless sleep, I woke up and realized that I was actually going to run 13.1 miles. I kept asking Katie, “seriously, why do I do these things?” I still don’t have that answer. The run went fairly well. I finished without stopping to walk and cut a whole 15 minutes off of my previous time. Some during the run issues were the following:
Music going out at mile 4
knee hurting at mile 7
knee going numb but ankle hurting at mile 9
wanting to die around mile 11

This is after all of that -

My thoughts here, “are my legs supposed to feel like this?” I don’t think the answer was yes.

I had lunch with the fam then bid them farewell. I went over to a friends house to spend Saturday with them before coming home Sunday. This is where nothing went as planned. Lizzie post-marathon = VERY VERY SICK. I threw up any food that could have possibly been in my body, and anything that I tried to add. I was totally dehydrated so I had a headache and everything. Needless to say, the fun night with long lost friends wasn’t as fun as I would have hoped. I was happy to see them, but I was not fun company.

This morning I woke up completely rejuvenated and had time to go visit Lacee’s (my friend who is on a mission) parents before coming back. We sat and talked for like 2 hours before I decided I should probably head home. We had a quick photo shoot though to remember all of the good times.

In the end I must say it was a pretty good weekend. I accomplished most of what I needed/wanted and took a great trip down memory lane. Man I miss living in St. George! It is so beautiful down there!

So melancholy

My day started at 2:30 am when Robbie (my nephew) had a tantrum. He was staying the night with my sister and me because she left to go back to school in California today. I eventually made it back to sleep, but I’ve been completely exhausted all day. I blame most of my fatigue on Robbie.

Tonight I helped my cousin Drew propose to his girlfriend Camie. I was in the concert hall at my school (that’s where I work) when they came in because there was supposed to be a spanish “lecture”. In an award winning performance, I informed them that they had the wrong night, but asked if they would watch a video I’ve been working on and tell me how it went. Then:

I left while Drew did his thing then re-entered the scene for pictures. It was a great production and everyone handled their parts nicely. Camie even got her one line right (“yes”).

Now I’m back home in an empty house trying not to seep into a lonely bitter depression...

Back to school again

I was so happy for school to be over last semester. I had almost driven myself crazy with the things I committed myself to. After 3 weeks of a break, I’m ready for it all to start over again.
By the end of the semester I’ll wonder how I was ever at the point of wanting to go back to school. It is like I get some sort of sick pleasure out of torturing myself intellectually. College students have such crappy lives, but it is just so dang fun.
I’m deciding right here and now that I am going to live my life to the fullest this semester. I’m going to have fun. I’m going to challenge myself and do things that I’ve never done before. It will be hard, and there will be times when I will feel like there is no way I’m going to survive it all. In the end however, I will be able to look back on the so many things that I have learned, and the impossible tasks that I have accomplished. What’s the point in having a life if you aren’t going to live it?

Welcome 2008!

Last night I “ran in” the new year in a 5k. The clock struck midnight as I entered the home stretch to the finish line. People were cheering, there were fireworks going off, and I was listening to Hillary Duff’s song, “What Dreams Are Made Of”. I was able to reflect on how much has happened, what I’ve learned, and how I’ve changed in this past year. There is so much to look forward to in 2008!

Some things I learned in 2007
What I want to do with my life.
How to love running.
Traveling is the best way to use my paycheck.
I really can do anything.

Some of My New Year’s Resolutions
Graduate from College
Run a marathon
Take risks
Find joy in the simple things
Get Healthy

lol, this video is weird - but it’s a good New Year’s song. :)
