Ugly Sweater Party

Let's just say....I won a major award that night for the ugliest sweater. Yay Meeee!!!!

There were so many more wonderful outfits... I was actually laughing so hard that I forgot to keep snapping photo's! Such a fun night with friends. No stress...just good times.

Lights at Thanksgiving Point 2011

We have started a new tradition of meeting my Aunt Di, Grandma Dorth and Cousin Nicole and her little girls at Thanksgiving Point for dinner, shopping, and driving through the light display.
It was so fun to see Nicole's little girls interact with my kids this year. My girls just doted on her little baby girl and the boys played and played with Kit. It's so fun for them to have cousins now.
We got to see "real" reindeer. And the kids got to each choose a candy to take in the car while we drove through the lights.

My girls gave Granny her first taste of "pop rocks." It was so hilarious. She thought it was going to make her teeth blow out of her mouth. We all just laughed and laughed at her reactions. Dorth is such a good sport.

It was a little dark to get a picture of the reindeer...but that's what they are all looking at here.

As we drove through the lights, we had on Christmas music blaring through the car. Each one of my kids had huge smiles on their faces and were singing at the top of their lungs. I couldn't help but be happy and grateful for that moment. I love this new tradition. This was our second time, and certainly not our last.

Temple Lights

We haven't been to see the lights at the "Salt Lake Temple" since we moved to Saratoga. So this year, instead of building gingerbread houses with the Culleys...went went to Hires Big H and to see the lights!

It was absolutely FrEeZinG cold. I REAPEAT....FREEZING COLD! But we had a great time. We especially loved all of the nativity scenes from around the world. Someone even got engaged while we were there...sooo cool! Chris and Brandon quoted "Vacation" the whole time as usual, and Jen and I enjoyed taking photos. I mostly like to just watch her when she gets in her mode...it's so crazy, she gets all excited when the light is just perfect or she just see's backdrops that I wouldn't even notice. She is so talented.
*however; these are my photo's so they pretty much look like they were taken with a disposable camera:)

yes, i know what a "flash" is! we were in a very dimly lit garage...give me a break:)

We stopped at McDonalds and grabbed hot cocoa on our way home to help us defrost! Certainly a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Elfie has returned... and he is cRaZY!!

"ELFIE" our little elf from the North Pole, has come back out of storage and is totally out of control this year. Every day we can't wait to wake up and see what that silly elf boy has been up to...

He drives the boys toys around...

He's even toilet papered the house!

Every day is different. We just love our Elfie!

THANKSGIVING IN HAWAII 2011

We have been so fortunate to spend the last two Thanksgivings in Hawaii. My Dad and Dotty live in Kauai for a few months a year and they are so sweet to let us "the Griswolds" move in for a few days and crash their gorgeous pad.

I like Addie's sucker hooked in the seat for easy access! ha ha ha

The second we arrive, the boys start chomping at the bit to get into the waves! They love it so much.

Along with the beach, we did a lot of eating, shopping, and sightseeing.

In Kauai, tons of chickens wander the Island. I mean they are everywhere. I love it!

We went on a little hike to look over the cliffs into "Queens Bath" and Hannah took a little spill off a small cliff. It was actually hilarious. We were all laughing so hard we couldn't get to her. And of course I took a picture before trying to rescue my child. She looks dead, but really she was laughing too.

We stopped to get into a small waterfall.

We went to the "Hyatt" for our Thanksgiving feast. It was absolutely gorgeous, and the food was out of this world. The best part....NO CLEAN UP OR DISHES!

One night at dinner, Addie didn't like something we were trying to discuss with her so she put pizza dough over her eyes. What a dork.

The day before we left, Brandon and Poppy took the boys on a helicopter ride. What an amazing experience for them. All four of them were just beaming when they came back. They were able to fly clear down into the waterfall that was in Jurassic Park. So cool.

Nine days in Paradise. We had a great time. My favorite part was watching my kids smile every minute of the day, the beautiful sunsets, watching re-runs of Modern Family every night before bed and laughing our heads off, trying out new beaches, and actually starting and finishing a whole book. Oh, Hawaii...you will be missed!

From the mouths of "our babes":

*Our doorbell rang. Chance ran to get it. No one was there. He said, "oh darn,it must have been a knocker-ditcher." (Otherwise known as a doorbell ditcher.)

*Chance climbed in the back of the car this afternoon, and said "ewww mom, the back of your car smells gross...it smells like fries and poo all mixed together."

There was a little boy acting very naughty in Chances primary class...he turned and told the boy that he was an "ANGRY ELF." The teacher told me that it made her whole day and she nearly peed her pants laughing. (We were visiting at a different ward, which makes it even funnier because he didn't even know the boy.)

*Chance's kindergarten teacher's name is Mrs. Rasband, he came home and told Brandon that her name is Mrs. Wristband! Close enough

*As we were driving through the farmlands, Addie blurts out from the backseat, "it's cool how HAY grows, it just randomly pops up in perfect little blocks!" (She was DEAD serious)

*We came home from camping and Addie turns to me and says, "Mom, it feels so good to be home and walk on the grass and have a cup of milk!"

*We ate at a "Thai" restaurant tonight. Addie was so sick of peanuts on all of the food. She finally looked at me and said, "what the heck, do they have a peanut tree in that kitchen or what?"

*Chance asked me, "Mom, why Jesus make me so fast?" (Basically asking why he is such a fast runner)

*Chance was looking through the neighbors fence at their dog and he came running back across the street and said " oh sick, that dog just bless you'd all over my face!" Apparently, that means the dog sneezed on him!

*Chance calls "Walkie Talkies"... "Hickey Tickies"

*Hannah told me that we are going to give her "arthritis" because we are making her camp in a tent this year. (We sold our big fifth wheel last year.) Poor kids!

*We went thru the drive-up at Wendy's and they were out of Frosty's. As we pulled away, Chance murmurs to himself: "damn, damn, damn!" (I will take full responsibility for that one!) Needless to say, we had a little chat!

*Chance says that "chocolate milk" is his favorite taste!

*Chance was picking the seat of his pants today, and I said "what's wrong son, do you have a snuggy?" And he said, "no mom, I don't have a snuggly, my bums are just stuck together.

*Tonight at dinner, Addie told us that her favorite solid food is BUTTER and her favorite liquid food is SPRAY BUTTER!

*Chance told me today that his brain was making him scared to go to school. (He just kept holding his head in his hands)

*We had a "chick" die this weekend. Of course the kids made us do a burial. Apparently it freaked Chance out, and he wouldn't sleep in his bed because he just knew there were dead chicks in the sheets, and his feet could feel the feathers!

Easton "Such a Big Miracle, in such a Little Boy"

For those that don't know, our little boy nearly drowned in a bathtub accident when he was just 7 months old. I had run a bath for myself and left Easton (who could barely crawl) in his room on the floor. I ran out to the kitchen to clean up a glass my daughter had broken. When I returned to the bath... Easton had pulled himself into the bathroom and was floating face down in the water. He had his feet pajama's on which helped him slip over the side. He was under for about two - four minutes and it took four minutes of CPR from his daddy before he took his first breath. He was taken by ambulance to "Primary's" where he stayed in the ICU overnight. He had a full recovery. We are so, so lucky! He is ONE YEAR OLD now and we're so happy that our heavenly father decided that we could keep him!!! He brings so much SUNSHINE into our lives. "We love you Eastie". I put this on my blog for my own journal, but also for people to always be aware of your kids around water...they are capable of sooo much more than you may think!
