Boston!

Last weekend Stephanie, Paul, Annie and I left the tundra of the District for a well needed trip to BOSTON! While my family was off in Hawaii, I rocked it in the HUB and had so much fun touring around the city with Paul and Steph (I was given the great responsibility of being the official tour guide)while Annie met up with her fiance Lyle and they had fun taking engagement photos around the city.
Not only did we go on a tour of Fenway (the Green Monster was AMAZING- unfortunately I didn't get to run across left field like Drew Barrymore so I can neither confirm nor deny how the grass felt), but we also ate at my favorite seafood restaurant Atlantic Fish! The Old Tour Trolley was our favorite mode of transportation (even though Paul hated how "touristy" it was) and my big black puffer coat worked overtime with the ridiculous wind! Along the way we found a frozen over pond along the Commonwealth Garden stretch where we shoe skated for a while to Steph's iPhone Black Eyed Peas mix and got other people to dance with us on the ice! Not to mention the fun we had on Charles Street and getting lost trying to find the Harvard Ward on Sunday!
I kept referencing Fever Pitch all weekend- unfortunately only my mom, Michon, Jenny and a few select others can follow my random one-liners, but Steph and Paul humored me... I wished so badly I would have ran into someone (like Liz Lemon) from the 30 Rock cast while in Boston but I must have just missed them! I was in love with the Isabella Stewart Gardner (sorry no pictures from there, they were not allowed :() and the Museum of Fine Arts, along with picking up far too many blueberry muffins at the million Dunkin Doughnuts (Maddi runs on D&D....or at least she needs to try and run a few off...)
It was a fun weekend off and I remembered just how much I love Boston! Loves to you all!

Please Stand By- THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN!

So I completely apologize to all of you for being a below average blogger- especially Jenny, I let you down I know, but I promise to make it up to you with time... haha truly though this past month has really been crazy and I have gotten swept up with living in DC and learning how to be a city girl in the middle of the greatest snow storm to hit the East Coast since 1929...that's right people it has been 81 years in the making and once again historic weather changes have occurred once a Carrasco moves into town...sorry Obama I just love shaking things up ;) Anyway, over the past week I have caught up on all of my "to dos" and realized that when the snow hits and I cannot bare to read or watch anymore Hulu it is time to turn to the forgotten blog.

Here are a few pictures from the past month. I would explain them, but that's just not how I roll, I am a more cut and paste chick and will entertain you with a running commentary:

The three girls in the pictures are Stephanie (my fabulous roommate and dearest friend), Annie (my hall neighbor and also best friend) and Madeline (an amazingly quirky, clutzy version of Maddi)- seriously people within my first two weeks I fell down two escalators (both times on the SAME DAY yet somehow my tights were spared?! Miracle? You betcha!)

The other photos are of the Snow. The Snow has become a common feature in my life since it has literally shut down the Federal Government for two straight days! What other country in the world has a government that can be shut down by the Snow?! Only in the USA baby!

A few things I have learned over the past month:
1. Trader Joe's is quite possibly one of the finest establishments I have ever had the pleasure of shopping/living one block away from in my entire life.
2. You never can eat too much granola, yogurt, blueberries, or chocolate...I have personally tested these foods and still love them after 40+ days...in fact I could go for another bowl of TJs mixed berries granola now....
3. When your boss is the Congressman who is fighting against Energy Solutions pray that your best friend who worked for Energy Solutions last summer doesn't put two and two together and corners you demanding you explain yourself...imagine if you can the scene in A Few Good Men with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson (Heather is Tom, I am Jack) "Tell me the truth Maddi! Did you support the Congressman's position about foreign waste?!" "You CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH! You want me in that office, you need me on those phones, and somewhere inside you, you know I write the best darn memos in the building!"
4. Kramersbooks and Afterwords Cafe is open 24 hrs on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 2am every other day of the week...honestly one of the best places in the District and the dessert is to die for!
5. Never admit to being lost in the tunnels of the Capitol between the House Office Buildings and the Flag Office...you do not want to become "that intern."
6. The West Wing is the greatest office in the country and the Press Room made me weak in the knees....I swear I could feel CJ Craig's presence.....
7. Diet Coke must be rationed...1.69 a bottle!!!!!
8. Never openly dis UNC and admit to being a major Duke fan in front of your boss...especially when half your office (including your Boss) are UNC fans...major office foul!
