One year physical stats:
Weight- 22.6 lbs; 44th percentile
Height- 30 3/4 inches; 80th percentile
Head- 48 cm; 90th percentile
LIKES (in pretty close to accurate order):
WHEELS!- he will get under things, poke his head through shopping carts, and stand in his wagon just so he can watch the wheels go round.
Scooting/rolling things (with or without wheels)- the video should explain; and this is just one of hundreds of items he's "toyed" with...
His sippy cup- plain old milk is the preferred beverage (thankfully) although apple and orange juice come in a close second.
Soft blankets- he will literally try and stuff an entire blanket into his mouth and onto his face so he can feel it. He will wrestle a blanket for long periods of time just trying to feel every square inch of it and to see how close he can get to it.
Himself- he has kissed every picture of himself there is in the house. He also likes to spend long amounts of time in front of the bathroom mirror
Getting his picture taken-he is quite the ham
Typing on the computer or piano-(nothing more to mention)
Swings- swings will make him giggle more than just about anything
Reading- although he likes it more when he gets to decide when to turn the pages
Being outdoors and looking around-he spends many a moment pressed against the sliding door in our kitchen looking out
Bath time-he crawls all over the tub, splashes, giggles
Butting heads with dad-literally; my grandma said I needed to get him a little sheep to butt heads with-haha!
Pat-a-cake-especially when dad plays with him
Mac and cheese/raviolis with cheese- what kid doesn't like pasta with cheese? I know I still do...
Kix/most breakfast cereals-just like his mom
Bubbles-who doesn't?
Being sung to- this is mainly for going to sleep purposes
DISLIKES (not necessarily in order):
The vacuum- actually anything with a small motor tends to upset him
Going to sleep at night- he is finally sleeping through the night...for the most part...
Showers- baths he likes; water sprinkling on him not so much
Bananas- !!! I know...I'm very upset...
When the object he is scooting gets caught on something-this frustrates him to no end
When mom or dad do not let him type on the computer
Grass-I'm told that he will eventually grow out of this
When mom or dad will not let him have what they are drinking-trust me, it's for his own good
Getting his nose/face wiped
All-in-all, from what you can tell about a one year old, he seems to be a pretty happy and easy-going kid. He likes other babies, although at story time when there are a lot of kids around he becomes quite reserved. He will crawl full speed ahead always, and is trying very hard to get the courage to walk by himself. If mom or dad will hold one of his hands this makes him very, very happy. If someone has a camera or phone pointed at him he immediately begins to ham it up. He scrambles like crazy whenever it's diaper changing time, so this has become quite a challenge. He actually does pretty well traveling, so that makes things nice. He is very good at detecting moods and acts accordingly. The couple of times I've been sad around him he has been very quiet and cuddly. He loves people and especially his parents and grandparents...if only it would last. As grandma Day says, he is my sweet heart, and I love him.
