After traveling and training and being apart for 6 weeks we moved to North Carolina in October. Joel is stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville. This will be our home. It doesn't really feel like home yet, but home is now wherever we are together.

We arrived in early October without a clue where we would live, but Dacia's friend Lucie helped her get to know the area and find the perfect house for us. It's a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath with a bonus room that will be used as the guest bedroom. It also has a garage, yay! The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and plenty of counter and cupboard space. The only thing we will miss from the house we had in California is the large pantry. There's a fireplace in the living room, but we will not be using that since it's so easy for Griffith to get into and it takes propane (weirdest thing I have ever heard of, but it's very common out here).

Fort Bragg is huge. It's like it's own little city. I get lost because there are soooooo many trees and I can't see the buildings through the trees. We live about 20 minutes from Fort Bragg so it's kind of a longer commute than what Joel is used to, but he doesn't seem to mind so far.

A couple of things I have noticed that I find unique to this area are:

• Memorials to the dead on the rear view window of cars. I think it's a little creepy, but a lot of people have them here.
• I have been told to have a "blessed day" by almost every cashier at every store I have been to. I had never even heard that phrase before.

The weather is nice. It's Fall and it's still warm (in the 70s). The leaves on the trees are changing colors but they stay on the trees which makes for a very pretty Fall.

People are friendly and we've met some nice ones already that we hope to be friends with. It will be a little harder once Joel is deployed, but I think we can call this home and be happy here for a few years.

What about pictures? Well, as soon as we actually finish unpacking and putting things together I'll get you some of those. It may take months...
