Testimony

My time in this Relief Society Presidency is quickly drawing to a close.  It has been such a blessing to serve in this capacity and I've learned so much from each sister in this incredible ward.  I'm particularly grateful for the close friendship I've developed with Christy White, Julie Johnson, Melissa Titensor and Mandy Gibbons.  I respect and admire them and love them for their goodness and example.  I'll miss the close and constant association with them.  Christy asked us all to write down our testimony for the newsletter.  I wanted to put mine here so I can remember:

My dear sisters in Christ,

Serving in the Relief Society has strengthened my testimony.  You have taught me about Christ-like love and strengthened my faith in Him through your insights, the many ways you serve one another and how you choose to live the gospel.  I admire and love each of you.

Through personal experiences, I’ve come to know for myself that Jesus Christ is real and is our Savior. I know that through Christ we can repent, we can be made clean, and we can continually become better.  I need Him everyday.

I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ’s church on the earth today, restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith, and has the necessary authority to administer saving ordinances. The Book of Mormon is true. We have a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, to whom Christ speaks and through whom He directs His work.  Through the Spirit, we can each receive personal revelation. The gospel gives my life peace, direction, and happiness. 

                                                            

Things I Hope to Remember

Mitchell, you call horses "ow-ees."  When you see one (and even sometimes when you see a cow), you scream, "OW  - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" until we acknowledge that you've seen a horse.  It's cute.

Everett, ever since Christmas six months ago, you want us to sing Christmas songs to you at bedtime.  Your favorites are "Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer," "Up On the Housetop," and "When Joseph Went to Bethlehem."  In that order.  Except, you want us to sing your very favorite (Rudolph) as the last song before you go to sleep.

Clara, yesterday when we were reading the scriptures, you surprised your daddy and me by reading your verse without any help or prompting.  We were amazed!  Tonight, you read the entirety of "One Fish Two Fish" at bedtime without any help.  You've learned to read so quickly and so well and the learning curve is amazing to me!
