Putting You in Stitches at the 4 Crafty Chicks!

Welcome to the fifth challenge for June at the 4 Crafty Chicks and you all know what that means???  It's a CRAZY EGG challenge!  We've got a great prize for one random participant this week so the more you play, the better your chances of winning are.  I'm sure you are all on the edge of your seats wondering what this week's challenge is, aren't you?  Well, we want to see stitching on your card - it could be real or faux, we don't care.  :)

Clean & Simple at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Can we really be almost at the end of June?  Where did the month disappear to?  WOW.  I hope you are all enjoying the summer - my kids are done next week and then we are going to RELAX!  :)  No big plans for the summer - getting settled into the new house is going to be enough, methinks.

So this week, Lori is our hostess with the mostest at the 4 Crafty Chicks and she is challenging us to create a Clean and Simple card (CAS) - no more than two layers, please.  As most of you know, CAS is NOT an area I excel in... I love my embellies and layers so this really *was* a challenge for me.  Luckily, there are some great CAS sketch sites out there and I make a point of saving the weekly sketches *just in case*.  I found an old Clean & Simple Stamping sketch - FTL 125:

I dug through my scrap box, found some paper and then coordinating buttons and...

This card took no time at all to make and I actually made three of them because I needed some gender-neutral birthday cards.  I hope you can find some time to play along with us this week - I'm looking forward to your CAS creations!

Are You Feeling Under the Weather?

Hello again!  Is the sun shining where you are?  I hope so - the official start of summer is less than a week away and, here in Central Alberta, we need to enjoy every bit of sunshine that comes our way because you never know what the weather will be like in 10 minutes.  ;)

This week's hostess-with-the-mostest at the 4 Crafty Chicks is Tamie and she wants to see our "Get Well Soon" cards.  This is one sentiment I don't use very often so it was good to have an "excuse" to dig through the stash and find one.  :)

For my card, I combined one of the Viva la Verve sketches from last month and a CR84FN Color Challenge combo from a few weeks ago:

Flower Crazy at the 4 Crafty Chicks!

Hello again everyone!  I know I've been MIA lately --- packing is progressing but it is S-L-O-W --- I can't wait to get everything moved.  And of course, this last month of school contains so many *events* that it's hard to keep track of them all.  Hopefully by the first part of July we'll be moved and *settled* and I can get back into my craft room on a more daily basis.

But you didn't come here to listen to me moan and groan about packing and moving, did you?  Of course not!  You want to see a bit of crafty goodness, right?  Well then, you've come to the right place!  This week's hostess with the mostest at the 4 Crafty Chicks is yours truly and I am challenging you to make your OWN flower.  There are a bazillion tutorials out there for ribbon flowers, paper flowers, fabric flowers... sooo many to choose from so find one and use it to make a fabulous bloom!  I used the same tutorial I used a few weeks ago for wire ribbon flowers: Make it Do.

This week, I decided to use another item from my Craft Cupboard Collection - a picture frame.  Hmmmm... how could I use that?  Well, I have really enjoyed using the SU! Decor Elements on picture frames in the past so I went to search to see if I could find one to fit this frame...nope, no luck.  What else could I use?  Ahhhhhhh - rub-ons.  I hardly EVER use my rub-ons and discovered an entire container of them while packing/organizing so this was my opportunity to get rid of some of them. 

It's kind of hard to see the words in this pic so here's a bit of a close-up:

I used a piece of SU! DSP from the neutrals pack for the "picture" and then placed the rub-ons on the outside of the glass.  I hot-glued the flower to the bottom corner (also on the top of the glass) and VOILA!  Mission accomplished!

I can't wait to see what kind of flowers you all create - you all KNOW what kind of flower freak I am.  I have a whole list of bookmarks on my computer 'specially for DIY flowers... yep...certifiable.  :)  I am looking forward to visiting your blogs and ADDING links to my list.  Have fun!  Enjoy your week.

Happy Anniversary

Hello everyone!  Thanks to everyone who played along with Lori's colorful Color Challenge last week - the entries were awesome.  This week's hostess with the mostest is Leanne and she's challenging us to make an Anniversary card.  With June being here (already?) that means that the wedding season is upon us.  I know a few special people who celebrate their anniversary this month.  :)

When I made my card, I used the Color Throwdown and the Clean & Simple stamping sketch from a few weeks ago:

This was a very interesting color combo to work with - can you believe my stash of LIME GREEN is almost nonexistent?  *wink*  I managed to find a bit of printed paper in my Lime Rickey paper pad (Basic Grey) and combined it with some other scraps from my stash for this fairly CAS card.
