Gondoltam, hogy na akkor itt az ideje valami Ășjfajta ĂĄl-csokis puding kiprĂłbĂĄlĂĄsĂĄnak - hiĂĄba, szeretem a kihĂvĂĄsokat, no. Ăs pont aznap bukkantam rĂĄ erre a vegĂĄn csokipuding-receptre, Ășgyhogy nĂ©mi ĂĄtalakĂtĂĄsokkal (merthogy a szĂłja is tiltĂłlistĂĄs, meg azt Ă©n se szĂvesen fogyasztom tĂșl gyakran) meg is csinĂĄltam.
I have already posted this picture on my FB page and then EmĆke from the BalhĂ©tterem gastro blog (awesome. the only problem is it's in Hungarian) asked me to share the recipe. So here it comes (in a moment :D).
So here's the story: two days ago one of my best friends, Juli, came to visit us. She's on a pretty strict diet and doesn't eat wheat flour, sucrose, and dairy products. And then my son can't eat cocoa and therefore no chocolate for him (only white). OK, I thought here's the time to try making some new pseudo-choc custard - well, as you might have noticed, I love challenges. And on the very same day I came across this vegan chocolate custard recipe so I just decided to make it with a couple of changes (oh, I forgot to mention, she doesn't consume soy, either, and quite honestly, I don't eat soy too often for several reasons).

| Mentes, de finom. SzerintĂŒnk :) - Free from and yummy. Well, at least we think so :) |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
6 level tablespoons cornstarch (I didn't have corn flour at home)
8 tablespoons xylit
3 cups rice milk (OK, I measured my cup, it's 60 cl - 20 fl. oz)
1.5 cup water (30 cl or 10 fl. oz)
7 tablespoons carob powder
1 teaspoon (approx) vanilla aroma (I don't have essence at home, shame on me. Plus, I just poured some so the kiddo started to worry that it's going to be too much :) But it was just fine :))
I put all the ingredients in a saucepan and combined them. That means you have to whisk the whole thing like crazy until there are no lumps - that part is very important (the no lumps part, I mean). It might take some time though, so be patient.
Then I put the pan on the stove and started heating it on a medium heat, stirring the thing continuously. I did not bring it to a boil but heated only until it started to get thick (approx. 10 minutes). Then I took it off the stove and poured (it will be easy to pour) the custared into small bowls. I put them outside (it was quite cold on the balcony :D) for 3 hours, and they were ready to eat! :)
It should have a creamy-jelly consistency, which is another good thing about it. The lord of the house (:D) has been asking me to make this type of custard for years. Too bad he hates the taste of carob. So he only got a spoonful of this one. Well, c'est la vie. :)
