Morning Prayers...

Howdy Doody Folks!

We have a chilly day in Iowa today and it started off with a bang! At our morning prayers around the kitchen bar with kids waiting impatiently to eat their eggs and drink their hot chocolate - Dad's included in that "kids" reference - it was David's turn (our 5 year-old) to say the prayer. After addressing our Father in Heaven and giving thanks for a few things, he stated:

"Please bless Ashlie (our 7 year old) to close her eyes and fold her arms during the prayer, and please bless her to stop pinching me!"

Of course Ashlie and Benjamin had a rebuttal immediately after the "amen" it was the famous - "you wouldn't have known she/I was doing that if you're eyes weren't open!" To that David replied "yeah, but I'm saying the prayer!"

I couldn't resist laughing! Bill Cosby had a brief TV series in the late 90's that was "Kids Say the Darndest things" I think this would've been up there.

Dad Spoils Everything

Hey there family and friends - we're puttin' a few posts out here to get this thing rollin. Lesson for the day - "Dad spoils everything!"

Benjamin quoted this to me about 100 times last night when I turned on the TV for a few minutes and I emphasize FEW! He wanted to play the WII and said Dad it's my turn to watch. "Just a minute, I reply...let me just see this"..."Dad, can you please go downstairs to watch that. " "Just a minute, I'm turning it off, I promise - just a couple more minutes!!"

Next thing you know - Cindi is gathering us (I did type "hollerin," but Cindi never "hollers") for us to have family prayers before bed - Benjamin gets a sad face and quickly shouts - "Dad you spoil everything - I didn't get to play the WII" - in a sly smile, I reply - yep - I even spoil you!

He's a good kid - when I went to kiss him good night - he reminded me I spoiled everything and of my TERRIBLE error - but then in a loving way said, I still love you Dad...kiss, good night!
