Give Thanks

One of the members at my church Hilltop Christian Fellowship handed me a printed prayer on Sunday, and I thought it was a very purposeful way to prepare my heart for Thanksgiving. So, I would like to share it with you:

A Thanksgiving Prayer
by Samuel F. Pugh

O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer;

And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;

Bestir my compassion,
and help me be concerned enough to help;

By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Also, as we prepare our hearts for the Advent season, Buckner has provided an excellent devotional guide, spanning Sunday, November 27th until Sunday, Christmas Day, December 25th. They provided copies for us to distribute at church. You can also download a free PDF copy here:
