Marianne! (I'm Waiting)

So Tuesday night I went to a concert to see Matt Wertz and Five For Fighting. I mainly went for Matt :) Because I LOVE HIM. I discovered Matt about 3 years ago when I searched to see if there was a song about me :) Yeah, I'm a nerd. BUT he had one! AND it is spelled just like my name! AND when I listened to it I REALLY LIKED IT! So I was excited that he came to Salt Lake and that I could go to his concert. My friend came with me and she Tweeted him ( I don't do twitter) to see if he would sing my song! Well, he didn't. BUT all of his other songs are so great that the concert was good anyway. After he performed I bought one of his shirts and got in line to see if he would sign it :) I introduced myself and told him I was hoping he would sing that song. He felt so bad! haha..but low and behold he signed my shirt "Marianne! (I'm Waiting)"- the lyrics from his song. We met some cool girls at the concert and hung out with them while Five For Fighting performed. It was a good night. I love music.

So most of you know that I teach school. One of the classes I teach is Foods and Nutrition. I have fun. There is a new thing on the Mypyramid website. It is MyFOODPEDIA You totally need to check it out! You can type in any food and see the food groups it comes from, how much is a serving and you can compare foods. Maybe you aren't as ecstatic about nutrition as I am :) BUT I wanted to share. Happy EATING!!!

Music is my LIFE

SO I really like music. And I really like it when I find new music that I fall in love with! I consider my music style very eclectic and I am always open to listening to new things. And there is nothing better than when music can bring you and a friend together. Music is EMPOWERING.

This weekend I had an awesome experience working the merchandise table for some new musicians that my dear friend introduced me to. Tyrone Wells and Tony Lucca performed at Kilby Court Saturday night. I wish more people knew HOW AMAZING these guys are. And I totally encourage you to check them out! I got to hang out with them after the show and I got my shirt signed by Tyrone, and they are just the nicest guys ever. Tony showed us pictures of his daughter, she is a doll.
The stupid thing on my part was that I didn't take pictures :s
BUT I will take pictures tonight at the Matt Wertz concert! Music IS my LIFE!

So I have been inspired. I have a friend who has changed my life. Right now we talk on the phone oh, probably every other day. On the days we aren't talking, we are probably texting. We talk on the phone because we live about 1600 miles away from each other.
Well, she shared something with me the other day and it has made me think a lot about the word "Be"

"Be" is SUCH a powerful word. It has made me think about all of the things that I can be. Be amazing, be quiet, be happy, be loud, be unique be forgiving...etc. and the list could go on and on. I have let my creative juices start to flow and I am on a mission to create something.

So my question for today is
"What can you be?"
One of the most important things you can be is yourself. And please, with all the things that go on in this world that are negative, BElieve in goodness. Because it does exist. Sometimes we just have to search a little bit harder for it.

I Prepare Kids for Life

I saw this on a website as I was searching for classroom materials. It just kinda made me giggle, BUT the statement couldn't be more true! Today my students are filling out check registers, writing checks, filling out deposit slips and reconciling bank statements. If that isn't preparing them for life I don't know what is....So, should I buy this window cling and put it on my car???!!!! hehe.
