Thanksgiving

Let me start out with saying how lame I am! I didnt get a single pic of Eppie and Papa while they were here. The pics I do have on here I stole from Chiara's blog. Lots of all the kids and a couple of aunts and uncles but apparently none of Eppie and Papa. I am so bummed. If anyone has some good pics from when they were here I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We had almost all of Jonny's family here except Mike and Ashlyn's family, who we missed very much.

Here are Norah and Hailey. The only two who sat on the couch for longer than 2 seconds after the cousin picture was done. We had SOOOO much food and oh my gosh it was so good!

After we finished eating we had Christmas from Eppie and Papa. We got a lot of really cool things from Saudi Arabia. Hailey is starting to get the hang of the rip open the present thing.

The next day we went down to Galveston for Aunt Katherine's birthday and a trip to the Moody Garden Festival of Lights. It is so fun to get all the babies together. There is only a 4 month span between these three. They played very well together with Norah's toy.

The boys were stuck together all night listening to the BYU v Utah game. Sorry for your loss Kenny..........ok, not really sorry! GO BYU! I thought this was a great picture! Pacifiers in mouths, playing with shoes, just waiting to go see the lights.Hailey loves lights. In fact light was one of her very first words that she actually connected with the correct object. She started out be pointing at ceiling fans and saying "Ligh" and has made the connection with lights ever since. She LOVES Christmas lights. Definately my daughter. She was mesmerized the whole time and kept pointing to them and going "oooooooh!" So fun! We had so much fun over Thanksgiving and were so happy that we got to spend so much time with family. We miss Eppie and Papa a lot and cant wait for them to come back again!

Oh hark...please stop singing

First of all, I would like it to be know that I am not a Grinch. Sure I am overweight, and hairy, and don't like to cover the lower half of my body.

But that's not being a Grinch, that's just being a dude.

That being said, I would like to address the development of Christmas Carols.

Holy...crap.

At some point these songs have derailed.

When did beautiful songs about the birth of Jesus and happy tunes about family and love get replaced by functionally retarded rednecks singing some hick song about a drunken reindeer?!

My wife loves listening to Christmas music. There is a radio station here in Houston that plays Christmas songs 24 hours a day until Christmas. Naturally, the radio in our car is always tuned to this station.

I don't really mind this, until I began noticing how horrible these songs have gotten. There are 3 things that I was able to channel my loathe towards.

First, the song "Feliz Navidad".

I know we all have fond memories of Big Bird skating around a ice rink to this song. But have you ever realized how dumb of a song it is? I counted it folks. There are a total of 20 words in this song.

20.

words.

And its not like they are inspiring words either. It just says merry Christmas over and over again. Sure, its in two languages. But I don't think you have to be an expert in linguistics to realize this song falls short of most Christmas carols.

Here ya go, I will write the literary equivalent to this song. Ahem:

Happy Arbor Day. We should plant a tree. Feliz dia de Arbor. Necesito comprar una pinata. From the bottom of my heart.

That's 22 words. I go above and beyond. I'll take my million dollars now.

The next thing I don't like is when people take Christmas carols, and then adapt them to some new song.

I'm not talking about different people singing the same song. I'm not even talking about people taking a melody and beefing it up a little.

But when I have to listen to two, no talent hicks, sing some random, twangy, rock, version of I "Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause", I draw the line.

It wasn't even that good of a Christmas song to begin with!

Lastly, is narrowed down to two songs. These songs are the same basic melody repeated over, and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and I hope you really get the point by now.

The first is called "Wonderful Christmas Time". Allow me to tell you the chorus. "Simply having a wonderful Christmas time".

...

That's it.

That is the chorus.

You now have learned 78% of the song.

I'm inspired.

The second song...it the worst. I hate this song.

Hate.

This.

Song.

Its called "Merry Christmas (War is Over)" by the Beatles.

The Beatles had some good songs. Unfortunately, this one is not one of them. I think the Beatles were dipping into the eggnog early on this one. It's got a very "whiny" tune that just drags on and on and repeats over and over.

Seriously, if you don't know this song go look it up. After 4 minutes of listening to it, you'll find yourself on a rooftop with a deer rifle. Yeah the song is about love, peace, and rock 'n roll. But listening to it makes me want to hurt myself which seems a bit counter productive to the message.

I know this all sounded negative. And I really do love Christmas songs. I think they are fun and some of them are really really good. I just have a problem with a select group of them.

And if this post has ruined your Christmas spirit then....well...you probably had a small amount of spirit anyways.

I mean who really listens to me? Is anyone still reading this? Or are you just waiting for the next Hailey picture to pop up.

She gets all the attention...

Finally

We still havent found that crappy cord but apparently there is some thing (insert technical term) that allows you to plug in your card to something else you can plug into your computer and then you can upload your pictures. Bottom Line: It works...unlike blogger, that is also driving me crazy!

Anyway...Hailey adjusted to her new home pretty quickly. Such a cutie!

Playing "Whas sat?" ("What's that for those of you that may not speak baby)

Hailey's version of the itsy bitsy spider!

My angel baby!

Halloween a year ago....

Oh how fast they grow!

"Come on Pumpkin"

"Daddy...."

Hailey helped us carve our pumpkin this year! She was totally willing to stick her hand in and pull all the slimy stuff out. Made mommy so proud!

Our finished product

Happy Halloween!

Aunt Chiara threw a wonderful Halloween party. We painted pumpkins, the kids played, and then the boys went to the airshow. When they got home we had dinner real quick before the kids went trick-or-treating. We had lumber jack fingers for dinner. Looked so gross I almost couldnt eat them!
And blood juice to drink...

After we rushed through dinner we got all the kids in their costumes. It was so fun to put Hailey in a costume this year. Since we call her Hailey-bug all the time we couldnt have her be anything else but a lady bug.

Here is the whole trick-or-treating gang! We had so much fun!

Lost in Transition

Since we have had all of our things spread out over 3/4 places during the past few months we have lost lots of little things here and there...for example my camera cord, therefore, there are no pictures until we either find the cord or can afford a new one.

Hailey is advancing so fast though that the pictures will have to be added later.

She got her 12 month immunizations today and did so well. She is 30 inches tall and weighs around 20 lbs 12 oz. (She doesnt hold still very well though)

She loves to run places and one of my favorites, she loves to turn in circles.

She is quite the little ham. She knows when people laugh at her that she should do whatever she did again, and does.

She babbles and jabbers like crazy. She will stand across the room and point at you and yell all sorts of jibberish. She is learning to say things like; light, ball, bird, baby, and bye bye. Mostly she just gets the right consonant noises with the correct amount of syllables. She's working on it. She also loves to play the "whats that" game. When we hear a noise she will look around and then look at us and raise her little hands in the air and say "was sat?" So cute! We are sure once she gets down exactly how to do it she will never stop talking.

She's beginning to follow small orders like putting her diapers in the trash after I have changed her, getting her cup or her baby doll, and sitting down about half the time when asked to do so in the bath tub. Also all I have to do is say the word "bath" and she starts heading to the bathroom and once we are in there (and the water isnt even on yet) I cant leave thr bathroom or she gets ticked and runs after me crying until I go back to the bathroom.

Her favorite song is the Itsy Bitsy Spider. She has her own little spider motion that I have on video and will hopefully put up soon. She recently learned the "down comes the rain" and the "up comes the sun" motions also.

She can climb onto the love sack and the fireplace at my parents' house.

The only things she is really afraid of are; laying on a changing station in a public bathroom, sometimes the vacuum, and Jonny's baseball glove. Not sure where the glove fear came from but it is hillarious.

We love her so much and have so much fun with her all the time.

Box it up

Hey there my adoring fans. I know you have been checking our blog like crazy these past couple months hoping I will have made another post. Unfortunately, all you have been able to see is pictures of some cute kid running around doing something weird. Sorry that you all had to suffer through that, I'm sure it was painful.

Life in Jonny's world is pretty much dead. I wake up, I watch a kid run around talking to her toys, I put her to bed, I look for a job, I don't find a job, I curse the people who won't give me a job, I feed the kid, I wait for Cassie to get home and whine about how I don't have job.

There, you are now up to speed with my life.

This post, however, is not about my life. Its about a movie preview I saw. I did some research about the movie and just had to share my thoughts with you.

For the 6 of you who have not clicked to a different blog or over to your farmville account, I assume you are interested in what I have to say.

There is a movie coming out soon that is called, "The Box". Apparently, it's a movie that is about a question of morality.

You receive a button in a box. If you press the button, you get one million dollars, BUT someone in the world that you don't know dies.

This is both a serious, thought-provoking theoretical situation and an incredibly stupid situation.

I would love for someone to send something like this to me.

Do you have any idea how fast I would press that button? Do they make clocks that measure piccoseconds?

It's a million dollars for me versus death for someone I don't know.

I know me.

I like me.

Me would like a million dollars.

Sure, I'd feel bad for getting someone else murdered, but I'm sure that, with time, I could come to terms with that.

Do you know what would help?

A yacht.

Besides, it's not really MY fault. Someone else sent me a button in a box.

They wouldn't even have to tell me about the million dollars. It's a button in a box. Who the heck wouldn't press it? Especially me! I'm like Dennis The Menace when it comes to buttons.

Eerie Voice: If you press the...

*click*

Eerie Voice: Wait... did you just press the button?
Jonny: Yeah, it didn't do anything.
Jonny: Did I do something wrong?

*clickclickclick*

Jonny: I think it's broken.
Eerie Voice: STOP PUSHING THE BUTTON!
Jonny: Why would you give me a button if you don't want me to push it?
Eerie Voice: Would you just listen for a second!

Eerie Voice: *ahem* Now, if you push the button you will receive one million dollars. But-

*clickclickclickclickclick*

Eerie Voice: You know what, screw this.
Eerie Voice: Now I have to go kill someone.

*...click*

Eerie Voice: ...you're a jerk.

I'm sorry, but if you are planning on some sort of moral delimma in today's day and age, you are going to have to be prepared for people with no moral center. Or people who just want a million dollars.

Or people who just like to push button.

People like me.

I mean look who more than half of Americans voted for as president! And you want to put someone else's fate in our hands at the push of a button?

Man I need a million dollars...I'm going to go check the mail.

Hailey's Birthday

Hailey turned a year old on the 24th. We just had a very simple party for her. Chiara, Ken, and the kids came over to celebrate. We had crazy dogs for dinner that Kenny and Nathan were so kind to help us out with. Hailey just ate hot dogs but she loves them.

While the Crazy dogs cooked we took Hailey out to the living room for her special surprise that daddy thought of. I'm pretty sure we could not have gotten a better reaction.

After fun with the balloons we ate Crazy dogs and then birthday cake.

Instead of doing a full cake we just did individual decorated cupcakes. It turned out pretty cute I think.

We almost didnt do presents that night cause she was getting pretty tired but the sugar from the cupcake kicked in enough to get her through the rest of the night.

Thank you so much to everyone for all her fun presents!
She was on a sugar high for a while afterwards...so we had a dance party afterwards.

Catching Up

Life has been a little crazy the past few weeks and its not quite over yet but at least the end is on the horizon. (not necessarily close though)

Jonny got to Houston safely over a week ago and is looking for a job here. He is leaving with our brother-in-law, Kenny, to go get all of our stuff that is still in storage in Utah.

I have been long-term substitute teaching since after Labor Day. I've been teaching 7th grade science. Its been a real challenge for the most part since I wasnt left very much but its been a really good experience. The teacher should be coming back from her maternity leave the last week of the month.

Hailey turned a year old and is getting so big. She'll of course get her own blog and update for that though. She has been spending her time with her Daddy since he has been home and her Aunt Lippy has been was watching her before that.

We have an apartment we are moving into at the end of this week. My parents have been very kind to let us crowd their house and while they will miss Hailey living here are probably happy to be able to spread out a little when we leave.

Go BYU!

TOUCHDOWN!
