2010 is off to a great start. Here are some of our favorite highlights from the past couple months:
1. Enjoying jazz, sunny days and good food at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival--Ryan even earned his keep by mimicking the street performers with his own rendition of streetside break dancing and grooving to the beat of the band playing nearby, complete with his baseball cap overturned in front of him to catch his tips...he earned almost $2 in change from passers-by!
2. A visit from Grandma and Grandpa--just in time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Patrick's birthday. Ryan talked his Grandpa into long walks and tours of the nearby playgrounds and assumed his spot as Grandma's "best helper."
3. Exploring in the "bike tent" (a.k.a. bike trailer)--this is Andrew and Ryan's favorite spot for early evening or Saturday morning family bike rides. What could be better--snacks, toys, blankets, and fresh air as we peddle down the Minute Man Trail?
4. Off and running...well, almost. Andrew is nearly walking--he cruises along everything and even bridges the divide between furniture on his own now. He takes the stairs (up at least) and can't get enough of climbing. Ryan is delighted by Andrew's accomplishments--"Mommy, he's learning!" he often exclaims.
5. Birthday mania--it seems between all the birthday's of the boys/man in our house and then Ryan's many friends...we've been partying for months. Ryan is getting pretty used to cake and ice cream at every event. Who's next?

Andrew's first birthday!
Our baby is 1 year old!
Andrew enjoyed his wheat and egg-free cake (allergies--poor kid)...ok, it was pretty much a frosted rice crispy treat cake,
but he seemed happy with it anyway.
What a happy bundle of joy he is! We are so grateful to have him in our lives!

Christmas in March
OK--perhaps a better title would be: a Christmas picture that didn't get posted until March. Hope you had a good Christmas, New Years, MLK Day, Valentine's and President's Day too! Next time, we'll tell you all about Ryan's birthday.

Escaping across the border
When snow was still on the ground here in Boston we escaped to Mexico with the John & Alison clan. What a great time! This was our last hurrah in many respects: our babymoon (pre-Andrew), Ryan's last "free" flight before his age warranted a full fare airline ticket, and generally a gleeful get-away from the cold, cold winter. We loved every minute of it--and so did Ryan and his cousins! Can we do this every January?
