I do not often buy new lolita pieces nowadays. Mostly because life just does not permit me to. I am very happy that I got what I have when I got it despite some criticism from people near me for not having prioritized other things because otherwise, I would not be able to have a nice wardrobe now most likely.
There are items I regret getting but I will leave that for another post, when I have the patience to go through my storage or finally find a way to organize some parts of my collection.
That being said, I saw a skirt I liked from a taobao brand called "Vault Design" on a second hand sales platform. I was drawn to it because of the style, length, colorway and especially because usually skirts are small for me.
I don't particularly love the styling and I thought this was be a really cool gothic piece that I could coord with my Moitie items.
When it arrived I couldn't help but be a bit disappointed... of course the price was not the same of brand but it still reminded me why i rarely buy from brands I do not know which usually are just the main brands.
For comparison purposes, here is a Moitie piece and accessory and the skirt. It works but the black is almost a gray its so faded... its a bit annoying. The print is also not crisp as it should be.
However, the design of the skirt is still very pretty and I wish it had been executed a bit better.
The other thing that bothers me is that the fabric feels light and almost cheap and the waist ties are short and flimsey. I am tempted to remove them and maybe try to make a headbow out of them or something as they are pretty useless.
Regardless, I think I can still wear it and make an ok coord. I am just a bit sad that, because of my size and current purchase ability or lack of said ability I was not able to get a nicer skirt. I think I own 2/3 skirts and I do not love any of them... I keep trying to like wearing skirts but I just don't... never did.
But fashion is made of also taking risks so I am willing to give it another try soon.
