KENNEDY SPENDS THE DAY WITH GRANDMA

So, Kennedy is such a mommies girl that there has only been Grandpa Findlay, Grandma Peterson and Bri that could watch her. Now that Bret has been home more she likes her daddy. So I have tried to win her over. Well today she finally spent the day with Grandma and seemed to enjoy herself.

The family of Grandpa Findlay are invited to Thanksgiving at the home of Reed and Shelly. As many of you know this will probably be the last Thanksgiving for Dad/Grandpa Findlay. We are asking all that can, to possibly postpone other commitments and attend a gathering in honor of Grandpa Findlay

Last night

Kennedy and Anaston seemed to discover each other. They were fascinated by each other. It was so cute to watch. I can't help to reflect on what cousins and family have meant in my life. As a child I loved getting to together with my cousins. I find it hard to realize now that we never see each other and when we do we don't really know each other any more so it's distant to some degree. I wish we would of been closer over the years. I think of how much my grandparents meant to me growing up and how much I have missed them since they have been gone. I compare that to the deep love I have for the six grandchildren I have and wonder if I am getting a glimpse of the love our Heavenly Father must have for each of us. I can't comprehend the love of our Savior Jesus Christ but when I think of the love I have for my family then I think that maybe I can understand in some small way. I find it comforting to know that Heavenly Father loves me. I am so thankful for families and the support we can offer each other. It has been a fun treat to have adult nieces now that can also be like best friends. I love having you all a part of my life. My dream is that Anaston, Kennedy and Haven with all the little ones left to come will love this family bond as much as I have. I can't help but think that Heaven must be like the love of one big happy family.

Cooper gave us a kitten and Anaston came out Sunday and it was so fun to see her reaction to it. She wanted to touch it so bad but she was afraid of it just a little. I get a kick out of her closing her eyes when the kitten is close. She is so fun.

We went to Saratoga Springs Sunday to listen to Conference with my Brothers family and to see their new house. We also got to spend the day with Brock, Rachael and the kids. It was so fun to see the twins walking and interacting with Cordon. We took several video's of them but had a hard time getting any to up load because of the size. I finally did get one but it's not the best, but oh well. They are so cute and we enjoyed the day.

1. I can't sit still - I have to keep my hands moving and I fidget bad. I didn't realize how bad it was until my daughter-in-laws laughed at me.

2. I love ONIONS. I always put lots of onions in everything and I've been teased lately so I guess I need to cut back when having company.

3. I usually don't know what dinner is until after it's made because it's usually something I've just made up as I go along.

4. I have a terrible sweet tooth and if there's something yummy in the house I eat it all. Reed has to hurry or he doesn't even get any.

5. I don't like to talk on the phone. Unless it's my sister or mom I just hate talking on the phone. I always tell Reed I'll talk to him when he gets home.

6. I don't like to go shopping. I would just as soon be doing something else.

Our Day at the Ranch

It was a nice day for getting wood. We had to sit out a downpour for a few minutes. I got soaked just opening the gate to pull in. The ground was just wet on the surface so we didn't have to worry about getting stuck. We had an enjoyable time; we cut down some dead trees right on the edge of the hay field at the top of the ranch. Shelly wanted to learn how to use a chain saw, so I dropped a tree and showed her how to cut through the tree. As you can see from the picture she caught on pretty fast. We had to sit out another little rain storm, the lighting at the ranch is pretty awesome. It would strike in the mountains above us and the thunder would just boom. We were able to get the pickup full of wood and we had fun doing it. I just need to remember not to get Shelly mad at me, when she has a chain saw in her hands.

On Labor Day we went bowling as a family. Those of us that were in Logan anyway. It was a lot of fun and I have a cute video of Cooper that I will post. He gets in his Transformer mode and he is so cute. He has a huge imagination and I love how he role plays.

Christmas Ideas

So, I was talking to a friend at work about Christmas. She was telling me about what her husbands family does to give gifts that doesn't cost, since their family is getting big and so many to buy for. I was really impressed with the idea and thought I would see what you girls thought. Her family saves the free stuff that they get threw out the year like shirts, mugs, hats etc and they give it to the person who's name they have. They also pass around a red high heel. You write on it your name and the year that you have it. She said that their family just has a lot of fun with it. I thought it sounded fun but thought of a different twist that might fit our families personalities better. What do you think of taking the name of the person you have and buying a gift that has to come from a clearance rack or a garage sale or even D.I.? Then sending around a family "Christmas Trophy" some what like the red high heel. I think gift giving should be fun and creative and it shouldn't stress the budget of the families. Some families are getting a lot of people they would like to buy for at Christmas and on a small budget and it gets stressful and changes the feelings of Christmas. We can brainstorm if you'd like but I just thought it was worth putting it out there for a vote. Post your comments and we'll go from there.

Fun Week-end

Brock and Rachael were in town during the week so on Friday they let us take Cordon to Lagoon. Bret, Brienne and Reed and I took Cooper and Cordon and went to Lagoon. It was a lot of fun. As you can see from the pictures.

We went to Boise this past week-end to a wedding of a nephew. It was a fun week-end and we took lots of fun pictures. I have to show the picture of Anaston at the temple. She's such a sweet girl. Copper and Kennedy come over and Grandma gets to watch them every once in a while. Copper sure loves his baby sister.

Peaceful Day

Kirsti and Kendall invited us to go camping at the ranch with them this past week-end. We got there late Friday night. We cooked hamburgers and beans and they were so good. And of course we had to have so mores. They were also very yummy. We slept great Reed and I on our air mattress. Never camp without it anymore. Saturday we made breakfast of breakfast burritos. We went 4 wheeling thanks to Bret and Brie letting us take theirs and we worked a little on the fence and marked the rocks so Wards can cut the hay this week. It was a lot of fun and the scenery of course is always beautiful.

JULY 15th

It's our 31st Wedding Anniversary today. We were married July 15, 1977. It's been a long ride of many trials and many fun times. I remember the day well. Reed picked me up early in the morning at my Grandparents house in Logan and we rode to Ogden together. The Logan Temple was closed, that was when it was gutted and totally redone. I remember being very nervous and excited all at the same time. I hadn't been through the temple and so it was a big day. After the temple session and marriage we drove back to Logan and had the wedding breakfast. It was strange to ride back to Logan together as husband and wife. Bret joined our little family in January of 1980. We were thrilled to be parents and loved every minute of it. Reed graduated from Utah State in June of 1980 when Bret was 6 months old. We moved to Homedale, Idaho were Reed started as a salesman for a John Deere Equipment Co. After 4 months or so Reed lost his job and we moved into Eagle with my parents for a month or so and then we then moved to Star and lived in my parents single wide trailer. This is where we lived when Brock was born, June 9,1981. Reed was the assistant manager at a Small Loans Office so when Brock was a year old we moved to Pocatello, Idaho were Reed was transferred. In a short two months Reed was promoted and we moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where Kelvin was born on May31, 1983. After Kelvin was born Reed decided he wanted to try his skills at teaching and we moved to Shelley, Idaho and lived for two years. We moved to Shoshone, Idaho in August of 1985 and Kirsti was born a month later on September 3, 1985. We lived in Shoshone for three years and while there Jacob was born on August 31,1987. When Jacob was a year old we moved to Homedale, Idaho again and Reed taught school. I started working the afternoon shift at the local grocery store after we had been there a year. I enjoyed this as it got me out of the house and Reed watched the kids most of the time I was gone. I lost weight and enjoyed meeting the people of the community. After teaching for 7 years Reed decided that he wanted to go back to school and we picked up and moved 5 kids and a few boxes of belongings to Phoenix, Arizona. I look back on it now and I think we were crazy but at the time I just did what my husband wanted to do and so we went. We moved I think on the hottest day of the year and our van didn't have air conditioning. I think we all started to wish home wasn't so far. I know I did. However the Lord blessed us and it turned out to be a good experience for our family. I think the kids all enjoyed it and have fond memories our our 18 months in Arizona. Reed graduated with an associates degree and we moved to Logan, Utah. We have been in the valley ever since. I started to work at Autoliv in Brigham City 15 years ago. With all the moves Reed became my best friend. I use to know how many times we have moved over the years but I have lost count. I know the Lord has blessed us and we have raised a wonderful family. We are enjoying this new experience of empty nester's and being grandparents. To Reed I want to say, I love you sweetheart and am excited to be married many more years. To our 9 children I want to say I love you all and am so glad you all joined our family.

We love our grandkids we were so lucky to get 4 new ones this past year. The twins, Hugh and Haven just turned one. Anaston is 5 months old and Kennedy is 2 weeks old.
