McKay Ryan Bennett

Little McKay's arrival into the world was a bit eventful. I went down to Provo for my doctor visit and to get a stress test done since it was past my due date. At the doctor's my blood pressure was up and there was trace amounts of protein in my urine. Then it was off to the hospital for the stress test. Little McKay was looking great but they wanted to do other tests on me because of the protein in my urine, my headaches, high blood pressure, and swelling. Well it turned out that I was in the beginning stages of toxemia and my blood platelets were down to 103 (I guess that is low). Since I thought I had a cold and because Ryan had gotten sick they decided to test me for swine flu. Anyways with all that added to the fact that I still hadn't dilated at all my doctor felt that it was best to do a C section. It wasn't an emergency but an urgency, serious enough to be done soon but not that second (I had to hold back a laugh when they weren't trying to explain the difference between the too). The C section was to be done around 7pm but who ever went in before me took a long time so I didn't go in until around 8pm. Little McKay was born (pulled out) at 8:23pm! I was able to see him for a few minutes afterward but since I was tested for swine they took him to the nursery until the test results came back in about 24 hours. Well, it turned out I did have the swine flu and they started me on anti virual medication. They told me I would not be able to hold McKay until I had been on the meds for 48 hours and they weren't sure when Ryan could hold him. Ryan was finally able to hold him Wednesday mid morning and I got to hold and see him early Thursday morning but we had to were masks and special gowns. We were released from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. It was quite an experience! We are glad to be home and enjoying our little boy!

Going Home!

39 weeks 4 days and still here!

So at my 37th week visit to the doctor I was 50 percent effaced, at a negative 2 and had not dilated. Not bad for the first weekly visit. At the 38th week visit I had not changed at all but we were still hopeful because I still had 2 weeks to go! Well, at this week's visit things still hadn't changed....subsequently I have an appointment for Monday to start doing stress tests on the baby.....lets hope I have dilated by then.....Actually I hope I go into labor, or my water breaks before then!

Cradle Bedding!

Once I finished the flannel blankets I decided to make some bedding for the cradle that we are using for the first few months of our little boy's life. I haven't finished the blanket yet because every time I went down to Provo they didn't have the binding I wanted but when I was down for my doctor appointment yesterday they finally had it!! I can finally finish the blanket and I posted pictures now so I don't forget to later. ;)

Free Time

I have had a lot of free time since I have graduated and stopped working....I made this blanket for a friend who is due soon and I am almost finished with one for our little boy. I am also in the process of typing up all my recipes and putting them into one book.

I finally let Ryan take a picture of me! I hate taking pictures of just myself lol. So here I am at 34 weeks!

Goofing Around (July 26)

So....we went home for my brother Todd's homecoming and brother Blake's farewell...Ryan and my 16 year old brother Tyler had some fun....

Draper Temple Trip (June 27)

Back in June we went with our good friends Josh and Lindsey Nardone to the Draper Temple. We had no idea that people had scheduled months in advance to come to the Draper Temple and so when we showed up we were told that they might be able to fit us in the session if they had some no shows. After a while of waiting they told us we could go back and get ready for the session! It is a beautiful Temple (not that all Temples aren't), we loved the architecture and paintings. The Provo Temple has the nickname of the Work Horse Temple and they do not have as many paintings as other Temples. When we came out there was a beautiful sunset! We didn't bring our camera but Lindsey did and so we all took pictures!!
