Harper Rae

As usual,  I've been gone far to long from the blog.  Things have been chaotic to say the least.  Going from 1 child to 2 is quite interesting and tiring!  It can also be quite fun or maybe we are just delirious! 

Harper Rae was born July 18th at 11:37 p.m., weighing 8 lb. 5 oz. and 20.5 in. long. She is 100% happy and healthy!  The heart arrhythmia that they had been keeping an eye on is no where to be found or heard. Praise the Lord!!

It has been a transition for all of us but we are slowly learning how to efficiently function as a family of 4.  It's not always pretty but we are all still alive so we must be doing something right.  Anne Presley is such a sweet Big, as we call her.  Of course she has her moments but for the most part she is very curious and helpful when it comes to her Harps.

She is also providing a lot of comical relief as usual. She is so creative and will do or say just about anything you tell her to so t.he fun is endless.  It is going to be so much fun to see the two of them interact together as Harper continues to grow and develop her own little personality.

Long time no post, eh?  I feel like all my post start out with that line.  I'm sorry - the further I got into this pregnancy, the less I wanted to do and that meant no blogging.

Well,  I'm here at the hospital.  All checked in and waiting on  Harper to start making some progress.  I'm being induced because she measured around 7 lbs. 13 oz. at the 37 week sonogram.  Anyone who's ever had a baby knows that estimate could be totally wrong but we shall see sometime tonight or tomorrow.

While we are waiting on Harper's arrival, we are also waiting on her father to make a final decision on her middle name.  He's so indecisive and can't make up his mind between Harper Rae Smith and Sarah Harper Smith.  It will probably go down to the wire.  
In other news Sweet Cheeks turned 2 on July 1!!  I can't believe how fast time has gone by!  We had an Elmo's World themed slip-n-slide/pool party and she had so much fun!

We actually celebrated a total of 4 times and the poor girl thought everyday was her birthday for 2 whole weeks.  One day I caught her singing Happy Birthday to herself!  She is absolutely hilarious!  She is growing up way to fast and I'm super sad but also super excited about what is to come!!  I know she is going to be a really good big sister...once we get over the initial shock!!!

Next time I'll be checking in as a mother of 2!  Probably a little more frazzled, and more than likely a little less often but as always I promise to do my best!  Please keep us all in your prayers!  Pray for a safe delivery for me and Harper as well as a smooth transition for AP and the rest of the family!!

Apparently I am on a monthly update schedule.  I can't seem to do anymore or any less so we are just going to have to go with it!

Harper is doing really well.  We passed our gestational diabetes test last month despite the fact that I ate 300 Rice Krispie Treats during a 1 weeks training program I attended for work.  It was ridiculous, but those things are ah.maz.ing!!! and I stand by my decision 100%!  Big sister Anne Presley is a mess!  Everyday is something new and it is so much fun!  Tiring but fun!  See below for the latest picture update.

We were attacked by the stomach bug this past weekend.  You know this busy body isn't feeling well when she sits still and watches an entire TV show!  poor baby!

Long Over Due Update!

Lets see, where to start...

Harper, formerly known as baby #2, gave us a scare at her 19 week sonogram but we didn't tell anyone until we could either confirm or deny what was going on.  During the 19 week sono she had a corpus plexus cyst on her brain.  It could have meant a series of things but we are so thankful that by the time we had our appt with the specialist 3 weeks later the cyst had completely dissolved and will have no lasting effects on little sister!!  Praise God!  I'll say it again, Praise God!!!  She does have a small heart arrhythmia that they will watch over the coming weeks but they said that those are common and could also possibly dissolve before birth.  We will have another sono between 28 and 32 weeks but our next and more immediate hurdle is the dreaded gestational diabetes test at the end of the month!  the last time I took it almost 2 years ago, it was a breeze but nothing as been the same this go around so I'm not counting on anything.  Please continue to pray for us and sweet Harper!  I'll try to keep you guys better updated in the future.


As for big sister, Anne Presley, everything is going great!  Her big girl room has been painted and most of the furniture is in place except for one piece, then I just have to get a few items on the wall and she will be Home Sweet Home!  She continues to do really well in the full size bed.  We periodically have a few bad nights in a row but for the most part she is doing really well!  I know I am her mother and I'm very partial but this little girl is SUPER SMART!!!  She amazes us every single day with something new that she has learned and we couldn't be more proud!!  That is not to say that she doesn't have her "diva" moments but she can then in the same breath be the sweetest little girl you've ever met! It's Pink!

Well, well, well, it looks like daddy is going to be outnumbered by 3!  Baby #2 is a beautiful little girl! Ii am quite ashamed to say that I had my heart set on a little boy and did not take the news as gracefully as I would have hoped but I am so very thankful for a beautiful healthy baby and the opportunity to raise two beautiful, loving sisters/best friends!! There was some confusion about the sonogram date so they didn't do the full meal deal, just a heartbeat and gender check and then we will go back on the 28th for an extensive look at the organs and for specific measurements. However,  Dr. B did say that everything looked good and up to par for the 16th week.


This little girl has no idea what is going on!!  She knows there is a baby in there but she also thinks that just because momma has a baby in her stomach, that anyone with a belly has a baby in their stomach too.  That means daddy has a baby in his belly as well as her great grandmother, Mamaw.

We have been trying to transition from baby to sister but it doesn't seem to be working very well.  However, it has only been 2 days soooo what can you do.  She's smart but she's still 1 and a half.  We've also been trying to name our baby sister to no avail.  I feel terrible because with AP we knew what her name was going to be the day we found out we were pregnant but with this one we really thought it was a little boy so we only focused on boy names but now we've got some work to do!

Please keep us in your prayers for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.  Also pray for big sister because shes in that awesome phase where she doesn't like for mom to have anything to do with other babies besides her!!  This picture is from last night.  I was holding Jon Chandler and she wasn't having any of it unless I was also holding her the same way!!

Jinxed

a few days after I wrote the last post AP had a few terrible nights in the big girl bed.  One of which included her and the bed rail on the floor.  We aren't quite sure how it happened but I learned my lesson on bragging about her sleeping habits...Don't do it!!!!

I had a weight check up today and can report that I gained 1 lb.  Two weeks of eating like a man and all I could muster was 1 stinking lb. but at least it's a gain, right?!? I go back again next week to see if I can keep up the good work and then on the 14th, we find out whether we will be buying pink or blue!!!  Can't wait!!!

Update

BS2 is doing fantastic.  The heartbeat is in the150s and everything sounded great.  Mommy is still sick and losing weight, which would be great if I wasn't pregnant!!  I've been trying to eat past the nausea and I go back on Monday for a weight check to see if it has worked.  If not, I have no idea what I'm going to do.  Dr. B. wants me to get this zofran/reglan pump but @ $300 a WEEK, it is absolutely impossible.  That's an extra mortgage payment a month and If I could afford an extra mortgage, I'd have a pretty little vacay home some where on the beach!!

Anne Presley is doing great as well.  She had her 18 month appt. last week and she is above average in everything, especially that big ole noggin of hers!  We went to Pump It Up tonight for Addison Rhodes birthday party and AP had a ton of fun jumping around with Aunt Haley!  And she loved the cupcakes.  Not sure why that pick didn't upload properly but she dove right into and got icing all over the both of us!

AP is such a big girl these days!  She wasn't sleeping well in the crib so we did a little experiment and put rails on the spare bed.  So far she has slept sound every night without waking up!!!  It's amazing!!!  That's all for now.  BS2's gender sonogram is scheduled for Valentines day, so expect a big update then!!
