Christmas Eve

I thought I was ready for Christmas by the Eve, but I ended up spending all morning running around for that one last thing I had just forgot. By noon I was home & Tiffany & David came over to help us make cookies for Santa.
The boys helped pour out ingredients & then ran around & played & had fun together.
Joey is so funny.. he kept trying to lick the spatula when there was only butter & sugar on it.. yuck!!!
That evening we went to my parents for our annual Christmas pageant & gift exchange. The Battraws gave us some fun pampered chef cooking things & the boys got Candyland!! Which they beg to play daily.

After we got back home, Sean started a fire in the fireplace & lit all the lumineres he spent so long setting up. It looked awesome :) I spent the rest of the evening wrapping presents I should have already done & praying I had enough tape & paper. At the end it was looking a little scary, but to my relief, I found an extra roll hiding in my closet !



Each year I get a little better at being more prepared & less stressed- but that's still not saying to much!!!
My favorite part of the day was singing Joy to the World with all of my family surrounding me. It made every second of the season feel ok :)

catch up

December has come, & almost gone... & my blogging has suffered. So I'm going to do a fast forward catch up to get us to Christmas!
I had another birthday at the beginning of the month & had to work all day on my birthday & deal with some not so good news that made it kinda worse than just any other day. The next day everything was resolved, so it wasn't too bad- but definitely a birthday I'm already trying to forget!!

On the 10th of the month we finally got around to putting the tree up & my pictures are not the best, because I was spending a large majority of the time trying to clean up broken ornaments... hey- that sounds like most of this month!! Needless to say- I've been looking at Christmas clearance to replace alot of ornaments!!!
of course, we listened to Kenny & Dolly while we "trimmed" the tree. It was slight a bit more chaos than I had anticipated, but we made it through without me going completely crazy!


The next week we headed out to a favorite spot out in the desert to attempt a family picture. Holy cow! Why did I think a tri-pod & my timer would not take me to the brink of a psychotic episode?

Here was one decent picture we got.
but this picture show everyone's personalities pretty well: Joe is lala land- Sean semi-smiling- me happy go lucky- Sam goofing off.

The very next day I took the boys & their cousin David out to get some pictures to give their grandparents for Christmas. Yet, another crazy feat- 150 pictures later & only 3 to chose from....

We stayed late & cooked out over the campfire. The weather was amazing!!! I didn't even need a sweatshirt that night!!
and through this all, we started potty training Sammy. It's been hard work, but well worth it! We finally just decided one day there would be no more diapers!!!! Sam threw a fit, but we stuck to our guns. After only 2 days he has been dry every night since!! He has occasional accidents, but is still trying to get the whole #2 thing down, but its a work in progress!!!
This was after a very successful day- gelato for a treat :)

Last week my sister came into town for the holidays & we took our boys to Bass Pro Shop for their Santa's workshop. Unfortunately we got there too late to get a ticket to see Santa, but lucky for Adam, we got there in plenty of time to play shooting games, which he did not want to leave. Me & Aunt Nancie, & the rest the boys checked out the fishy's & the quads.


This was 2 days before Christmas. We have found the boys sleep the best when they are near someone else... therefore- a trundle bed is in the near future!

Rainy days

Yesterday was drizzly & rainy,all day long!!! When I was young, my mom always made donuts & hot chocolate on those days. We had Sean's sister & our nephew over yesterday, so we had to have some treats!! We actually started off making sugar cookies. When we put them in the fridge, we decided to make donuts & hot chocolate too. What makes a COLD rainy Saturday warm? An oven :) Homemade bread, donuts, hot chocolate & cookies~~~









I've heard that Grandma's house is where cousins go to become best friends, but I think auntie's house should apply too!!

It's autumn time.. hooray!

I know I've been slacking, but I've been a busy lady! I just wanted to share a little collage of the trip we took the weekend of Thanksgiving. It was so beautiful!!!

Unfortunately, I left for work at 7:30 & got home a little after 6. Before I left this morning, I put Sam's old CARS birthday banner up, so lightning McQueen gave Sean a birthday nod for me this morning :)
When I got home, we all got dressed & went to... Famous Daves, of course... to celebrate the bit 3-0 for Sean.

I thought about calling this blog random.. but my life is random. I have alot of out of order pictures, but still wanted to blog.

Today I had my Shutterfly House Party. Wahoo for free stuff!! I actually use Shutterfly quite a bit & was excited to get picked to give lots of free stuff away!!! I wanted to put a little quote out about pictures, & memories, since it was a party for Christmas cards & photos-
I love that quote. I started to think about it & its true. I remember the very moment I realized I would be with Sean forever, but I don't remember very much about the rest of that day. I LOVE taking pictures, & its' funny how true that is.. we do remember the good moments, not always what surrounds them.

I decided to utilize pinterest, once again, in my planning for this. I found the cutest idea for a breakfast/brunch type party, so that is what I did!! I did not, however, get any pictures of the actual thing, cause I was busy- but wanted to show what I made for it.
In this brunch idea, they made cute little chalkboards for each item & labeled them & it was ridiculously adorable, so I decided I could make it just as easy. I found some wood slats at Michaels & brought them home for Sean to cut.
I was just going to paint them with chalkboard pain, but Sean had a better idea. He said that painting it would leave brush marks, so we should just dip them. He brought in screws, & some twine & you can see what happened...


we dipped & dripped. :) He is so funny... he always has the most inventive ways to get things done!! I'll always love him for that!
So I didn't get a picture of the cute spread, but I took a few after, to see the finished little chalkboards that I will keep for many future uses. I put some cute embelleshments on them for a finishing touch.


how fun are those?! Love making fun new crafty things :) I even did a bigger one to use on the mantel-

Why is it that when I do a new little craft, or add one little touch to my house, I am SO happy. I love how making something new makes me feel :)

The other day I made a birthday cake for a friend at work whose birthday we celebrated. The boys, of course, were right by my side. This sight is a common one these days!
they have to both be on that chair to help wash, wipe, stir, knead, roll out, flip, you name it!!
& of course, who can make a cake without licking the spoon??!!
that night Sam sang happy birthday to my friend the whole night. He even told Sean the next day that it was her birthday.

Another happy time in the Johnson household... bathtime!!! Even though this picture is blurry, I had to include it, cause they both have smiles on their dirty little faces. They live to splash water all over the bathroom floor!!!
& I had to include a picture of my precious precious baby.. man I love my boys!!
Having said that... this is what Joe does alot now...
get into & onto EVERYTHING!!!! He is tearing my cupboards apart, climbing on the tables, pushing chairs around, & most importantly, testing his parents patience!!!!
He turned 15 months yesterday & he is acting more & more like a little boy instead of a baby!! He says just a few words. He says- ha, ha- when something is hot. He says- ba! for bath. & mil- for milk. He also says something that sounds like Jesus when he sees a picture of Jesus. He is finally learning how to climb off of the objects he learned awhile ago to climb onto. He LOVES to sneak into the office & bang on the keyboard of the computer!!! He added several lines of nonsense to Sean's midterm the other day. His most favorite thing of all to do it yell. He loves to yell when he wants your attention, when he is frustrated, when he is happy, pretty much all the time. He & Sammy like to really try my patience by having screaming matches in the store.
But most of all.. he is the most amazing addition to me & Sean since Sam...& I love every day I see his face :)
