Addie's 1st

I hate that my life is so stinkin' busy. But it's what I asked for I guess. For All Time Clocks is booming and it's taking every spare minute I had left. It's a good problem to have but I am missing my time with my loves. And that's really what this post is about. I just wanted to throw out a short video of Addie's 1st birthday! (There's more video, but it's on my sister's camera since mine ran out of space...maybe some day I'll get it from her because Addie was quite entertaining). Anyway, hopefully I can get some of our Christmas video up here soon. I still need to learn how to work our camcorder. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy! It really is short.

Halloween Fun

I sure am glad Halloween was on a Saturday this year. Shawn got to spend it with us instead of sleeping...or heading off to work for that matter. We spent the night escorting our princesses around the town. We started off at our wards trunk-or-treat and met up with Heath and Megan and their three kids. It's such a blast to see how easily pleased and excited little kids are. That was my favorite part. We headed up to my mom and dad's neighborhood to get some real trick-or-treating in (by real I mean door to door). I could not get over they way Shaylie and Ellie chatted and giggled the whole way. They wore their excitement on their sleeves. When asked if they would like two pieces of candy instead of one Shaylie replied, "yep." so matter-of-factly. They took turns riding their carriage (stroller) through the neighborhood and enjoyed every last moment. We captured a few moments of Halloween on camera...enjoy!

And we're spent...well at least Addie is. I love this photos candid-ness...

A Trip to the Mailbox

Ellie and I took a walk to the mailbox today and found a package for her. She opened it up and found this dress inside. As she peered inside she said a little under her breath, "I not believe it!" That just makes my day.

Last Night

Last night as Shawn and I were driving our tired little girls home, Addalie was crying. Ellie was getting annoyed and saying: "stop Addie it's loud."
Addie, of course, ignored her demands.
Ellie petitioned Shawn and me saying, "Turn down Addie's cry."
All Ellie got in return of her request were our chuckles. She says the funniest things sometimes!

Nevermind

Driving home in the car tonight:

Windows rolled down. Radio playing a country song. Ellie saying something (as usual) but I can't hear her.

Me: "What?"
Ellie: (Says it again but I still can't hear her)
Me: (Roll up the windows. Turn off the radio) "What did you say?"
Ellie: "Nevermind."
Me: (Feeling somewhat shamed)
Ellie: "You ALWAYS say 'what.' And I always say nevermind."

Well, that pretty much sums it up. She makes me laugh.

Here's the Proof

I am sure that when I am out and about with my two little sweeties that there are some who wonder what kind of mother I am. My three year old sometimes resembles that of an orphan who has no guidance. This, of course, is due to the fact that her hair is disheveled much of the time. But to those who may wonder and those who have no clue what it's like to be a mother of a child who would much rather be a monkey, here's the proof. I am documenting it. This is before we walk out that door. If I'm lucky, she'll keep in any bows, clips, elastics, accessories I put in her hair that day for maybe an hour. We try.

Ellie's Prayer Tonight

In her bed finishing our bedtime routine:

Me: Who's going to say the prayer?

Ellie: I will say the prayer.

Me: Ok

Ellie: (whispering something)

Me: (whispering) I can't hear you.

Ellie: Heavenly Father, thank you for the day. Thank you for the wonderful bed and the morning. Help us have a good day tomorrow. Help us go to the store to get more animal crackers. And get more chips. Help us be nice. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I always look forward to hearing Ellie's prayers. Such a simple life. I need to take note.

Making Our Display

Heather and I have had a lot of fun creating our display for the shows. From drawing the design out on paper to hanging the finishing touches, we're happy with the result. At first, we were nervous about the way the antiquing was going, but luckily Heather figured out what to do and it turned out beautifully.

Time at the Pool

We went to the pool A LOT this summer. My girls are water babies! The new Lindon Pool is AMAZINGLY fun. There's a lazy river, a water slide, lots of kid fountains, baby pool, and lots of warm sunshine! We loved the pool.

Baby Cereal

We've started Addie on a few baby foods...well let me rephrase that, we've TRIED to start Addie on new baby foods. We started with Rice Cereal. Here's the reaction we got.

I don't know why we even try the baby food. She's been good with regular food...bread, crackers, bananas, etc. What a waste of money, those tiny jars of pureed junk! Hehe

Back in February

Our little Addie was in the hospital with RSV for a few days...along with half the infants in Utah County this last season. She was only two months old and it was so sad to see her tiny little body (although I thought the hospital attire was quite cute on her) trying to heal. I loved how she held on to her oxygen tube.

Anyway, sorry to go back so far, but seeing how I use my blog as a form of a journal. I didn't want to miss this little event. I have to admit, although it is not something I'd wish for, it was nice to have to slow down and just look after her care in the hospital while Ellie was watched over by family. Ellie took good care of her too when she came to visit...as it shows in the above photo.

Photo Shoot

We went and had pictures taken for the girls. It was long overdue. I hadn't taken Addie for professional photos before! Not good. Hopefully I will be better...no promises though. Anyway, I bought the copyright to the photos and now I've been playing around with them on Photoshop.

Ellie always wants to help me in the kitchen...that is when I'm actually making something in the kitchen. Cooking is not one of my specialties. Anyway, she was having fun making her soup.

Sister Love

These girls are already best friends!
Sometimes when I'm yanking Ellie off of Addie, trying to save Addie from being squashed, I find her grinning from ear to ear. I think Addie enjoys the attention, even if it means a few bumps.

We've Taken the Plunge!

Captured Laughing

A Family Tradition

Every year, a day or two after Thanksgiving, the Sheffer family goes to the Book Cliffs to hunt down the perfect Christmas tree. I have grown to LOVE this tradition! It involves driving around on the four wheelers looking for this year's tree. The 2008 year was interesting because I was 8 months pregnant. We sent Ellie with her daddy on the four wheeler to find a tree. About 10 minutes later Shawn comes bag with Ellie slumped over. She had fallen asleep. So I took her and put her in the car, at which point she says to me sleepily, "I not see deer." I just laughed. Anyone who knows Shawn, knows his extreme fascination with those four legged creatures. We had spent the previous 2 hour drive into the Book Cliffs with our eyes peeled for any lifeforms in the shape of deer. So I guess deer were on her mind. After a couple hours waiting in the car, Shawn returns on the four-wheeler with a beautiful tree. We were impressed with his find and happily took it home. Here we find Ellie and Shawn contemplating the criteria for the perfect tree...

Thanksgiving 2008...

I know, I'm way behind, but better late than never right? This is how we spent Thanksgiving. My family is too big to fit into a house so we used the church. We like to make funny faces. That pie was too beautiful to eat...

Back Up a Few Months

So I'm going to back up a few months since I missed several important things starting from November 2008. Here's Jared returning from the New York, New York South mission. He got back just in time for Thanksgiving! What a treat. It was funny because Ellie now thinks that the airport is Jared's home.

Breaking the Slacker Streak

Wow! Have I been a SLACKER! Things have been interesting. I've been readjusting to having a new one in the home but that's not what's kept me from posting. Our computer has been eaten by an ugly virus! Or viruses, so I am at the mercy of getting time at my parents computer. Well, finally I am here. And first thing's first.
