Geometry

I have been posting all of my pictures on Facebook lately so I haven't blogged in forever. I don't know if anyone will even still see this! I got some news that is more family/blog news than friend/Facebook news. It's about Andrew again... funny that was my last blog post too! I am just SO excited for him!

He wants to test out of ninth grade math (he is in 8th grade right now). So he applied to do a Credit By Exam for the first semester of Geometry. He got the book, studied 2 or 3 times on his own, took a 3 hour test that covered half the book, and got a 97!! What?! I am still so amazed. I don't know why. It should have sank in by now. WOW!

Just had to get that out because I am bursting inside. :)

ACT

We just got a letter from Duke University inviting Andrew to a recognition ceremony in May because out of the 74,000 7th graders across the nation who took the ACT this year, Andrew scored in the top 2%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wayne read the letter to me over the phone when I was driving home from taking a test on Friday. I almost had to pull over because I was so excited that I got light headed. I couldn't wait to get home and tackle my silly boy. THAT IS AMAZING!

Lotsa Good News

Trinton and Andrew are on fire! They have accomplished so much in the last month, that I just gotta blog about it...

First, Andrew created this website: http://79372316.nhd.weebly.com/index.html and entered it into a history contest. He won first place on the regional level! Now he is going on to the state contest. If you have any suggestions, he has been encouraged to have it edited by/get feedback from several people about it before it is judged again on a state level. In a previous post, I mentioned that Andrew was invited by Duke University to take the ACT... the ACT, not the pre-ACT by the way. We got his scores back and he is qualified for their most competitive summer program! He barely studied for it and he had a fever that day... so after six more years of school, some real preparation, and minus a fever... he really could do outstanding on this test some day. He already scored higher than 93% of recent high school graduates in the U.S. on part of the test... and he's only in the 7th grade! His reading score brought down his composite score... we don't know what happened there because his perfect reading scores on the state tests are why Duke University contacted him to begin with... go figure.



Then, Trinton took the stage and won first place in the 400! Check out his thunder legs and what's popping out of his arms! He has worked hard for this so it was really exciting to see him win.


Last but not least, Andrew competed in a science contest yesterday and qualified to go on to the state level!

I am sooooooooo proud of them. I love it that I have a place to record their achievements and share it all with the rest of their fan club... your love and support fuels their hearts.

My Little Soccer Friend

It is finally Spencer's turn! He is absolutely thrilled! He has been sitting on the sidelines at his big brothers' games since he was newborn. He can hardly believe that it is finally his turn. When we arrived at the first practice I said, "Look! There are your soccer friends!" He asked/exclaimed, "I get to be a soccer friend too?!!!!" He scored two goals at his first game today! Every time anyone scored a goal on his team, he ran over to me and gave me a high five! It was so sweet.
Oh and about the huge sticker on his right arm... he had to get a shot yesterday and it was the first time that we didn't have to call in extra nurses to pin him down for it. He sat there all by himself, made a crazy face when she stuck him, peeked through one eye to see if she was done, and then let out a sigh of relief that it was over. It helped that Andrew got a shot first... Spencer wants to be so big and brave too. He is so proud of himself... he might not wash that arm until the sticker finally falls off because it's his proudest sticker ever!
