Military Appreciation Dinner

Last night we were able to go to a Military Appreciation Dinner. We had a great time, and a wonderful dinner. We are greatful to all of those who have, and currently serve our country. Here are a few pictures of us showing off. :)

Vacation to Utah Feb 14-27, 2009

Sorry we are so slow at updating out blog, but here is the info about our trip to Utah and the pictures as well.... We were able to go up to Utah to visit Gloria's family and some close friends. We really enjoyed our time with everyone....even though we didn't get to see everyone we wanted to. Maybe next time. Gloria even got to have a girl's night with her sisters. Gloria made ribs for her first time...they turned out awesome. We marinaded them in coke all night in 5 gallon buckets. Then cooked them in the crockpot all day with bbq sauce. Last but not least we put them in the oven for extra crispness. We even got to enjoy the snow....by shoveling the drive way. David got to work at the barn with the horses for the first time. Thanks Hans for putting us to work!!! :) We also got to enjoy a lot of time with both of Gloria's parents. By the end of the two weeks we were definately ready to be home and sleep in our own beds.

David's Promotion

David was promoted from Private First Class to Specialist back on January 8, 2009. His brother, Alan, was able to come up here to promote him. It was a really cool experience.

Greatest Tom Cruise movie ever

Last night we went to see the movie Valkrye. It is a movie about a failed attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler during Wolrd War two. Those who have talked to me about movies, know just how much I despise Tom Cruise. I can't even describe how painful it is for me to sit through a Tom Cruise movie. I'm also not a fan of him as a person. Anyone who expects their wife to stay silent while giving birth, deserves to be shot. Which brings me to why I think Valkrye is the best Tom Cruise movie ever. There are some stories that you just know rooting for the good guys is a dumb idea. Movies like Titanic, and Pearl Harbor come to mind. Sure we want them to win, but lets be realistic. The past is what it is. Adolf Hitler was not blown up, The Titanic did sink, and the attack at Pearl Harbor was serious blow to the United States. Making movies about history is fine, as long as they are mostly acurate. Especially when dealing with real wars. Therefore I can say that for the sake of historical accuracy, as well as my personal pleasure, I was happy to see Tom Cruise killed at the end of the movie. I only wish they would have got him before he squeezed out one last crappy line. Alas, not every thing goes according to our wishes, as his character discovered. If only they had done the same in the movie Pearl Harbor. If they had I could have called this post the best Tom Cruise and Ben Afleck movies ever made. Thats what I think, peace out. David

Operation Bun in the Oven

Yesterday we took Flower Pot to be x-rayed to see if she was pregnant. We could've used a home pregnancy test, but who wants to do that.....not me!!!! As you can see in the x-ray there are NO puppies!!! Therefore it was a fake pregnancy. FLOWER POT!!!! YOU HUSSIE!!!!

We are very relieved that she is not pregnant. HOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

The Holiday Ball

Last night Gloria and I attended the Holiday Ball for Fox Army Health Center. The Army throws annually a Ball to recognize the achievements of the organization as well as those soliders who have given the ultimate sacrifice...their lives, in defense of our nation. The event has a key note speaker, as well as several toasts. My favorite being to all the LADIES! We enjoyed an excellent dinner as well as some very intresting dancing. We really loved being able to dress up and be with friends.

trunkin it up

So yesterday we went to our wards trunk or treat activity. There was a chile cookoff so I would'nt want to stand to close to me today, and a costume parade, which was pretty cool. Also we entered 2 pumpkins into a contest. I guess sometimes we can all be winners since anyone who participated got a little certificate. All three of us were thrilled. This year was Gloria and my first experience using the specialized carving patterns and kits. I have to say it will be difficult to go back to the old way. My most ambitious pumpkin was not carved with a pattern. I was able to carve the death star from star wars and was pretty proud of it. The whole thing took about 6 hours to do. The depressing part ,was how few kids had any idea what it was. Someone asked if it was from Harry Potter, and some one else thought it was the eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings. Oh well, Im just glad its done. Anyway the activity was great, ozzy put on a great show, but unfortunately for the shopkeeper and his son we had to..... Wait! wrong ending! I mean we all had a good time and since halloween is actually friday, im going to enjoy scaring the crap out of trick or treaters. More to follow...... David

The Great KFC Debate

I love chicken. Chicken taste good, and it's good for you. You can fry it, bake it, crock pot it, however eating it raw is a bad idea. I like to play a game at work called "How to tick off Bill". "Bill" is convinced that a certain politician is going to save our economy, get us out of Iraq, and generally improve every aspect of our lives. He also seems to believe this will all happen in the next four years. Therefore to win at the game one must take the opposing point of view, and if played correctly the end result is hilarious. Bill's booming voice can be heard all through the hospital. I can keep Bill going for about 15 to 20 minutes before he figures out that I'm just messing with his head. On Thursday during the game I met "Frank". Frank is Bills polar opposite on the issues, so by pitting Bill against Frank you can really see the sparks fly. As I watched these two titans battle for dominance, something occured to me. Politicians are like KCF chicken. Chicken is chicken regardless of how its cooked. There is no way to turn chicken into beef. Put a leg of fried chicken next to a leg of baked chicken and you may have a diffrent texture on the surface, but the meat still taste the same. Politicians are pretty much the same underneath the surface. They can point out differences all day long. It is my belief that sooner or later when you get down to the meat, they are the same animal. So if you feel so inclined, go out and vote on election day. Choose your brand of chicken and enjoy the meal. I however will not be voting for a very simple reason. I Like chicken, but politics leave a bad taste in my mouth. David

superbadash the prequel

Well we've had this blog for like eternity now without posting anything. So I thought I'd break the mold. We moved to Huntsville AL in April, and got in a huge wreck on the way up. We have pictures of it somewhere, but like most things in the house that are important, we can't find them. So if and when they turn up we will post them. Our puppy Flowerpot turned one this month, and is excited about Halloween. We got her a tutu and a friend is talking about making her some wings to go along with it. Gloria just got a promotion at work and I am up for one in January. Other than that everything is pretty much buisness as usual. So hopefully, we'll have more to post soon. David and Gloria
