To the "5 Fathers"

I realize that I shouldn't be putting this somewhere they'll never find it but at 6:30 in the morning I figure this may be the best place.
My dad wakes up every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to go to kidney dialysis for six hours. Then he goes to work. Tuesday and Thursday should be his rest days, his time to sleep in and let his body recover, and Tuesday is. Thursday he wakes up, gets ready (often by the assistance of my mother), and is off to meet the "Five Fathers." This is a group of guys who want to be better. Who want to get together and study the gospel with those that want to get together and study the gospel. It started with my dad and Keith Hiatt, two of the best men in the world. The some of the other best men in the world joined. For a long time it was Ned Jarvis, Earl Hilton, Brother Amacher, Keith and my dad. Then others wanted in so now, Joey Baughn and Mitchell Scott are a part of it as well. They get together and have a group study. Before the meeting they send out a topic and talk that they will discuss at the meeting. They all read it before they get there and mill over the things they read and then get there and talk about God. It's really something wonderful. I was there for one meeting and when Brother Hiatt asked if I was going to keep coming I responded, "I don't make enough money to be in this group." DUMB! That was sooo dumb. I mean yes, all of those there are very successful in what they do but that wasn't and isn't the purpose of the 5 fathers. I think it's interesting how Keith is now the Stake President, Ned and Earl are his counselors, Joey is the new Stake President of a newly created stake and Mitchell is the temple president. King Benjamin did indeed surround himself with holy men, and he was a great leader.

I guess what I really want to say is thanks to my fathers friends. To the "5" for giving my dad something to look forward too every Thursday. And for all of them being an example to me of the man I want to be. Good men become great. My parents always told me to have good friends.
