5 Days To Go!

Sick parents...

I thought that it was tough taking care of two sick children - we realized the past few days that it is much easier to take care of sick children when you are well than taking care of well children when you are sick!

Besides being sick - Josh has been busy graduating!!!  He was 'hooded' yesterday during the winter commencement.  He still has one last thing to do to be official which is to defend his dissertation.  He will schedule that once he has accepted a job and we know where we will be living.  I will do a separate blog about graduation once I feel better and can give the monumental occasion the attention it deserves!

Christmas came early!

Christmas came early this year in the form of visit from Grandpa Terry and Uncle Andy.  

Abram loved his tool set from Uncle Andy.

He was hammering away on anything that would sit still, this includes cats, sisters...

Another favorite was Lion King from Grandpa Terry.  Note to other parents of small children - Lion King is scary and sad and scary.  I was not aware since this is the first time I had ever watched the movie.  

 Josh got the best gift of all.  A ham.  He was really, really quite happy with it.  It's a good thing he only got one ham because three hams would certainly kill him.

 Stella was happy that she got a workbench so she could hammer away just like Abram.

She also got the most adorable little jacket from Uncle Andy.

Sick babies

So we had a break in our Christmas countdown.  Stella got an earache and pink eye on Friday morning and by Friday night Abram was sick with the flu.  Somehow in all of this sickness we haven't had any cross-contamination but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

In the meantime - here are some more adorable pictures.  I think these are my favorite of Stella.

We recently had photographs taken of Abram and Stella.  I think the pictures are beautiful and perfectly capture their personalities.  Since I've been so bad at taking pictures lately I thought I would update our blog between now and Christmas with a few shots a day taken at the session.  If you are in the Iowa City area and looking for a great photographer and all round great gal check out www.heatherjahn.com.  

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have so much to be thankful for this year: healthy and happy children, wonderful friends and family.  We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too!  We had so much fun that I neglected to take any pictures.  We did grab a quick family picture right before it was time to go.  You can tell that by the time we took this picture Abram was all done.





 Stella also turned 7 months old today!  She had fun with her Uncle Nick and future Aunt Lisa.  You can hardly see them since they are wearing camouflage, but if you look closely, they are in the picture with her :)

Catching Up

We've been busy and haven't updated the blog lately.  A few weeks ago Abram and I rode the Hawkeye Train.  We didn't go to the game but you know wise people always tells us life is about the journey not the destination.   The destination in this case was too cold and windy - the train was much more pleasant that sitting through a 3 hour game.

While Abram had fun on the train he was anti-picture taking.

Last weekend we had Josh's college friends over for a Pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving.  I didn't get a lot of pictures but here is a beautiful shot of Stella and Jasper.

As the temperatures drop here in Iowa we've been spending more time at the Children's Museum.  Here Abram was literally getting into his cooking by jumping in the pizza fridge.

This trip to the museum Abram made his first attempt at climbing the wall.  He did a great job and I think he will be back for more.  At home he has literally been jumping off the walls because we've been inside so much - it's nice to let him run free for awhile.

Our church had a harvest festival.  Abram had a great time making fall crafts and even more fun eating the sweet treats.
