I'm just so super excited because...

I'm expecting!!!!!!!!! 

June 6th is the big day. 

Turkey Day Festivities

Okay, I know it's a little late to be posting about Thanksgiving. 
I mean, that was centuries ago!

But still, I had to do it!

Why?

Because this was my first Thanksgiving with Tyson's family and his grandmom had some cute traditions that I wanted to share!

First off, the tables... they are amazing. 
My family NEVER EVER EVER gets this fancy

The theme this Thanksgiving was the Mayflower

This one is a weird side view...it's hard to see but this was my favorite ship:)

SO CUTE! Grandmom helped all the younger cousins make these little tootsie roll ships and they were placed next to each plate.
The kids loved them and made them into HUGE balls of tootsie roll and stuffed them into their mouths. YUCK!

As part of the theme, Grandmom assigned two of the younger cousins to stand up at certain points of the meal and tell us a little about the Mayflower. It was really interesting stuff that I had never learned before. And so fun to have that as part of the meal. It helped keep the focus on where Thanksgiving came from and to be grateful for this wonderful country.

Lastly, I had to show you this. All the cute little girls cousins made a turkey out of the stuff from the veggie plate. SO cute!

It was a memorable Thanksgiving, that's for sure!

Halloween Party

Saturday Night, We had our friends, Aaron and Liz over for a little Halloween get together. I was so fun! Tyson and Aaron made hamburgers while Liz and I baked cupcakes for decorating. 

 Then, we all carved pumpkins:

And this beauty is Tyson's... he said the teeth are designed after Mater's from cars. haha.

We ended the night watching "The Haunted Mansion" and eating roasted pumpkin seeds. It was a blast!

Photo Blog here I come...

So, I am SLOWLY trying to put together a photo blog. YAY!  I've started it...there isn't much there...but I would really appreciate if you could add it to your blog list. Then hopefully, I can slowly get the word out and once I'm graduated from school I will really have a business going! :) (And you can cheer me on as I struggle to learn and get better at photography.) I haven't started photography classes yet but I have a sweet camera and am just having TONS of fun playing with it. Bytheway...if anyone wants FREE family photos etc, let me know. Camping with Tyson's family

This last weekend we went camping with Tyson's family. It was a blast! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to camp.
Here is a few highlights:

Day 1: We got to the spot around dinner time and roasted hot dogs! mmmm!
            We made SMORES! I love to melt my chocolate and make a big gooey mess. It is so good that way. Karissa (my sister-in-law) agrees...

Tyson found a huge tree branch that he thought would make a perfect sling shot. 

ha ha He just cracks me up.

It worked pretty good-

Day 2: We went hiking. I got lots of fun pictures along the hike. Here are a few:

Day 3: We packed up and left that morning. :( Camping is always too short. But we had a lot of fun. It is always so good to get away from the everyday craziness of life in order to stop and enjoy God's creations.

Family Fun in Ashton

Saturday, we spent the day at Tyson's grandparent's house. Tyson's brother Trevor just got back from his mission and all the cousins wanted to see him. Here are just a few highlights:

One of Tyson's cousins wrote a play and had everyone act in it. It was about a gingerbread baby. It was so cute! Here are a few pictures:

It was a blast! I feel so blessed to have married into such a fun family.

As of late, I have had time to reflect on Life.
 How GRATEFUL I am, for the knowledge that I have that we have a Father in Heaven and he is very involved in the details of our lives. We are not alone.
This was reaffirmed to me this last week. 


July 30, 2010:
My family and I were in St. George, Utah at our "Phillips' Family Reunion"! (Which is my mom's family.)
We all were arriving at the LDS church building near my grandparent's house for a day of games and crafts. Not very long after we arrived, My grandpa started having chest pains and getting out of breath. Then, it got worse, his arms starting going numb and the pain worsened. He called for my grandmother and she rushed him to the hospital. Which was luckily, near the church. He was rushed in and stabilized but he did indeed suffer a massive heart attack.
I'm sure many of you have had a loved one go through something like this. So, you know how hard and scary it is.
It was truly so scary and we were all sick with worry. We gathered together as a family and had a prayer for him. Its hard to describe how touching it was to gather as a family in prayer. Many of us aren't LDS and we all don't share common beliefs but we came together in the unity of love. And all our hearts turned to our Father in Heaven for help. We relied on him. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. It meant a lot to me to see this family that I love unified in such a way. It was a little bit of heaven for me.
Since then, my grandfather has had open heart surgery-4 bypasses. We are so grateful he is still with us.
This reunion was a special one. My testimony was strengthened as I witnessed God doing a marvelous work in our family and in my heart.
My grandpa is doing well and I thank God for that. But if he wouldn't have made it, I find peace in the knowledge that he is my grandpa forever.
And I truly thank God for that.
