10 Years...
I remember getting the call right at 8am a decade from today. I immediately felt like there was a huge hole in my heart when the phone rang. I knew it was the nurse telling us it was the end...
Since then there has been a lot of open ended questions, anger, sadness, emptiness, bitterness... Still I can not imagine how my parents have made it on the other side. After having my babies I still can't fathom their pain. The grandkids have been a huge strength for them. They are just wonderful grandparents to those kids!
As I say how hard it has been I can not go without saying how much good I have seen. Each year is filled with so many miracles. Things that only God could orchestrate- gifts from above...Encouraging words and prayers from so many...Opportunities to help others...The biggest gift has come in forgiveness...so hard, and yet so freeing.
Today I celebrate my brother, who I always looked up to and now really have to look up to.:) Also, a little jealousy to know he is in such a glorious place.
I celebrate my parents who constantly teach me to slow down and smell the roses, and the fish.:)
I celebrate my husband, as I am so blessed with who he is- A man of such faith and compassion, always loving me when I'm not in my most lovable moments, and getting me through these 10 years of crazy emotions.
I celebrate my kids who talk about Uncle Jarrett like they just saw him yesterday. Who quarrel like we used to. Poor Austin. Us girls fight mean.
I celebrate the driver of the car, Paul. I prayed only good would come from Jarrett's death.There were grave decisions made that night and now Paul is carrying their message with him to share with others, and is doing good things with his life. Thankful for God's grace. It now has come full circle, not just here but in so many other areas.
To others who may be going or will be going through similar pain- trust in God's plan. You may ask "why" and that is okay. You may be mad, and that is okay. HE is working even when we can't see it YET...It took ten years to see this much, and I know and trust HE has a lot more blessings from above coming- How AWESOME! It wasn't always easy, and still may be hard, but trusting HE IS perfect in such darkness gives me hope that there is light on the other side. As Austin says, "GOOD always wins over Bad"-Just not always in our own timing, Son.
A Cowgirl and Her Horse
Last weekend Daddy and Kylee went out to check on Gus and brush away his winter coat. Kgirl learned a few tricks to being a cowgirl. First one, have plenty of carrots on hand! Gus couldn't get enough of carrots and she couldn't get enough of Gus!
Talent Show
Kylee played Old McDonald on the piano at the school's talent show. We are so proud of her... She played beautifully in front of the entire school.
Treasures from Grandad
Grandad is cleaning house...Austin picked up a few things... After working on his muscles we came home and he started working on something outside. When I went to check on him he had some of the things he found at Grandad's laying out along with a special note saying, "The Lord is my rock...ps.18:2 To Jesus, love Austin" :) There was a rock that he laid on the paper that had that verse on it, a rope he shaped into a heart, a wood cross and some flowers.
He worked so hard on making it just right. Our little guy has such a big heart.:)

Mother's Day 2013
Mother's Day breakfast of champions-Two carrots, a recess cup, mixed nuts, a dinner roll, apricot, yogurt, and soda in the coffee mug made with love and a lot of thought by my two precious babes. Daddy added some special touches too!
Lunch with a group of amazing, beautiful women. Go cart racing and arcade game playing with my beautiful and fun momma and little girl.
What a good day to be a momma! Feel so blessed...
Mother's Day Question

Austin: I know why there is a mother's day but why is there a father's day? Clayton: What do you mean?
Austin: Well, you know. Mom gave birth to us and stuff. What did dads do? :)
Me: Your dad drove 30 miles to and from to get me Freddie's ice cream. He massaged my feet daily, he listened to me complain about my back aches constantly, and he even tried to console me when I would get all emotional for no reason, which was often.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's in my life who have a strong man behind her, and to all the moms I know who does it alone- you are my Hero!!!

Technical Difficulties
So, I was so proud of myself for finally getting our cruise on the blog and I go to look at the blog and there are no pictures!! We have a new phone, and it doesn't allow me to upload my pictures. I'm thinking maybe I need to install a flash player??? Until I get it figured out, below is a great summary of what to expect.:) Enjoy!
2013 Cruise- We Made it to Galveston, TX!!
We headed out on a Saturday evening and made it to Galveston very early on Sunday. Kuddos to Daddy and Alex for driving throughout the night.The kids slept the entire way, and so did us moms. :)
The ship was set to sail out on Monday, so that gave us plenty of time to explore the beaches, and rest up for our relaxing cruise! :)

We were so grateful to take this trip with some of our good friends. What a great time, and made for some great adventures!
2013 Cruise- The Ship
Our ship was called the Carnival Triumph. Yes, it is the same ship that broke down on the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, just a week after our cruise. How fortunate we feel.
We did have mechanical problems with the propeller on our cruise, causing us to spend 2 days in Progreso, Mexico, instead of stopping in Cozumel. However, we were ok with that since we had an extra day on the beach, to explore, and to work on our haggling skills. :)
